If I could leave zero stars I would. We took our dog in for an allergic reaction to some tapeworm pills. She was vomiting, having frequent bowel movements and breaking out in hives. Prior to taking her in we called the 1800 number on the pill box and was told that her symptoms were almost definitely from an allergic reaction. We also called the Humane Society and had this confirmed. We decided to take her to Oak Tree because it had good reviews and we thought shed be seen faster. Upon walking in the receptionist briefly listened to her symptoms before rather rudely snapping at us that those werent symptoms of an allergic reaction and that the treatment for the vomiting alone would cost us $150-200. This rubbed us the wrong way seeing as she wasnt the vet but seemed to be dismissing our previous information and diagnosing our dog herself. Then when the vet walked in he gave us about two seconds to tell him her symptoms before cutting us off to tell us it wasnt from an allergic reaction also. We told him about calling the pill maker and the Humane Society and receiving the opposite diagnosis and he got irate with us and told us he couldnt help us and to take her to a specialist. Then he told us we wasted his time and told us to leave. It was very obvious that they were out to charge us as much as possible from the second we arrived before ever even examining our dog and that once they realized we had done our homework and wouldnt blindly swipe our credit card they didnt want to deal with us. We took her to another vet who actually listened to us and called the pill company and are giving her proper treatment. I would not bring any animal to the Oak Tree Animal Hospital unless you want to be swindled for every dime you have and given an improper diagnosis. They dont want to help animals. They want to fill their wallets.

Pros: They are the cheapest vet Ive ever been to, and they will do pretty much any test that you specifically ask for. So if you have done your own research and know exactly what you want done, or if your animal needs something pricey done and you cant afford to go to your regular vet, this is a good bet. Also, the staff (except the vet) are very friendly and accommodating. Cons: Dr. Kumar is a bad doctor, and doesnt seem to try very hard to diagnose problems. We had gone there a few times for blood work and teeth cleaning (pretty basic stuff) a few years ago, and I cant recall having any specific problems (other than a serious lack of bedside manner). But we went with our dog last month to try to figure out why hes gotten so skinny and has growths on his body, and Dr. Kumar came in, said hello, put the dog on the table, listened to his heart (I think), and said "I can do blood tests, it will be $100. Do you want to do that?" We said yes and he left. That was the whole exam. He didnt feel the growths, didnt ask any questions or offer any opinions, didnt do an actual exam. And we didnt realize until later that he never said what type of blood test he wanted to do, or what he was checking for. The call with the results came the next day, and all the receptionist said was "The tests were all normal." When I asked what that might mean, what else we could do, she just said "I dont know. The tests were normal." I would have given them 1 star based on this visit alone, except that they are very cheap, and will perform whatever tests or procedures you ask for. If saving money is crucial and you dont need a diagnosis, they will do. As long as you dont expect the doctor to talk to you at all.

I just started taking my 2 sphynx rescue cats here and after only 1 visit I am very impressed with the care the staff took with my pets. My cat has had really bad digestion issues for a long time and I took him here for another opinion. I liked the vet techs because for one, the woman did not scruff my cat. At the previous vet, he was scruffed so hard he bled (because he is hairless) but this woman was careful with him and gentle. I didnt even have to ask her to be and I really appreciated that. Dr. Kumar spent almost 45 minutes talking to me about my cat and what his condition could potentially be and was very honest and straight forward with what he was able to do for him there and if I should go further to a specialist. The vet tech Wendy was so kind and gave me her phone number to text her if I had issues with Smeagol "at any hour." As for my other kitty, his ears get dirty very fast. Dr. Kumar said as long as I brought him consistently every 2 weeks they could clean his ears for me as an outpatient service without charging me an office visit fee. As someone who used to work as a vet assistant and has rescued animals my whole life, I could already tell this facility was very caring and not out for making profit but giving good medical care. I thoroughly appreciate the time they took to care about my cats and I will be a loyal client to them from here forward and have already recommended them to my friends!

do NOT bring your pets here. My dog was having a very severe skin infection and I brought him to this vet thinking they would tell us what he had. The vet here barely examined my dog and then they gave him a shot on the wound. When we went to checkout they charged us $100 which is WAY more than we expected. The vet also told us that the infected area would turn into an open wound leaving a hole in his back which will need surgery. A few weeks went by and the shot which was supposed to clean up his infection within a week or two didnt work AT ALL. This was the biggest waste of $100. Two months after I took my dog to the Humane Society and my dog was given a treatment of creams and medications and my dog recovered like nothing had ever happened to him. There were no open wounds left and no surgery needed. Point of the story is.. do NOT come to this vet unless you want to waste your time and money. I much rather recommend your local Humane Society.

my dogs are my WORLD! I have been going to Oak Tree for 7 or more years and I have to say they are the best thing that I ever discovered. Dr. Kumar is always straight forward but still makes you feel ok if its bad news. The entire staff makes you feel comfortable and you really know they CARE about your babies. If your pet has serious surgery, Polly will give you her personal phone number and both Polly and Dr. Kumar are always available. If anything goes wrong, my boyfriend and I feel comfortable to say "call Polly" and she is always happy and willing to answer questions and makes you feel at ease. When people tell me the cost of their vets visits I am baffled bc Oak tree is always so reasonable. I read another review about somebody moving to Lutz and still going and I did the same thing. EVERY VET should be like this and Dr. Kumar and his staff are like a hidden treasure for pet lovers. Thanks friends!
