I went to these guys in January because I was having a terrible time breathing. I have asthma, but its typically not bad enough to even use an inhaler, so I didnt have one on hand on a Sunday after a full weekend of real trouble breathing, to the point that I couldnt sleep because I wasnt getting enough oxygen. (yikes!) My husband convinced me not to wait until Monday because it seemed like an emergency; not wanting to go to the emergency room, I decided on my nearest urgent care facility. I found these guys using my navigational system and walked right in. I signed in, filled out paperwork, and within about 30 minutes of entering the place, I was in an examination room. Maybe about 15 minutes or so after that, I saw a nurse who took my vital signs -- including my blood oxygen -- and talked to me. I wish I could remember her name, because she was SO knowledgeable that I asked her if she was in medical school. She was helpful and answered all my questions and told me to wait for the doctor. When the doc came in, he checked my breathing and told me that I was having a severe asthma attack. He gave me a steroid shot (actually had the nurse do it) and gave me a breathing treatment, wrote prescriptions for a rescue inhaler and a maintenance inhaler and explained why I needed both. He told me how much oxygen was in my blood when I entered and how much was there after the treatment. I found them both competent and caring. The check-out process was quick and easy, they billed my insurance. It honestly could not have been any easier. The office is a little cramped and ever-so-slightly worn, its easy to see that its not the offices at Northside/Alpharetta Medical campus, where my primary care physician is located, but its nothing that will creep you out in any way; they just see a lot of patients. I dont know whats changed since I was there at the beginning of the year, but I was shocked to see that the reviews of this place werent so great. I was actually looking up their number because my son was having a pretty frightening allergic reaction this morning and I wanted to see who opened earlier, these guys or my pediatrician, so that I could get my son seen as quickly as possible. It turned out that my son is fine, so I didnt have to take him anywhere, but I would not have hesitated in taking him here, because they took very good care of me; as good as the care I would have received from my excellent primary care doctor. No one has listed their hours, so I will: 9-9 M-Sun. (7 days a week) There is no appointment necessary, and I found them to be -- literally -- life savers. (and a great way to avoid that possible ER charge that your insurance might hand you.)

Last week, I went in after I had injured my neck. I hurt my neck while training in jiu jitsu (a form of martial arts). I did not loose consciousness, did not suffer any paralysis, no tingling sensation, etc. I also had one of my friends perform a neuro check on me and all neuro functions were fine. I just wrenched my neck pretty severely, so bad I couldnt even drive. I did want to check to make sure I didnt break anything, so I went to the urgent care. I go to Peachtree Immediate Care for all my Urgent Care needs, and I have had good experiences with them so this is an acute negative incident. The medical assistant, Karen A., brought me back to Triage me, take vitals, obtain medical history, and get my chief complaint. I told her my main reason for being there, which was to get an X-ray and she proceeds to ask me in a smart aleck way, asking if I had gone to medical school, then proceeding to tell me I needed a CT. (wonder if she went to medical school, as she is working as a Medical Assistant). She then took my blood pressure and made another smart comment about how I must not be in that much pain if my blood pressure was normal. My pain was only when I moved my head in any direction. If I held it still or leaned it against the wall or back of a chair it wasnt too bad. She made it seem like I was there to get pills. The NP came in and proceeded to tell me I had a sprained neck. She didnt examine me or speak to me, she said it coming into the exam room. She wrote me an RX for muscle relaxers and an anti-inflammatory and sent me on my way (no x-ray). I promptly left and made an appointment with an orthopedist who specialized in neck and spine injuries. He immediately x-rayed my neck and found a hairline fracture on one of my cervical vertebras and reported that my neck was very much out of alignment. He kept me on the muscle relaxers and put me on a steroid instead of the anti-inflammatory, put me in a brace, and I go back in a week for a recheck and to see if Im ready for Physical Therapy. I had a bad feeling when I left Peachtree, and Im very glad I acted on it. I would not recommend you go to this urgent care for injuries, but rather when your sick and cant get an appointment with your PCP.

Holy disorganization batman! This place is so terribly run it’s scary, I would give it 0 stars if that was an option but I’m forced to give 1. During my lengthy visit, I witnessed 2-3 women working behind the front desk that spent a considerable amount of time asking each other “Hey have you seen Patient X’s paperwork?” “Do you have Patient Y’s form?” “Where did the file for Mr. Patient Z go?” In addition to learning the names of the patients whom they can’t find documents for, I also was privy to the name and details of a young lady checking out after being seen – they diagnosed her with mono, performed a CBC and ANA panel on her (lab results should be back within a day or so), she’s not to return to school until 2/4/15, and their total due was $208, but the mother asked that they please not pay the full balance until the lab results are returned. That’s a lot of PHI to overhear from across the waiting room! The attitude of the 4 employees we had interactions with make it clear everyone there hates their job and could care less about you or your health. Just like the conditions of the office – cleanliness is not a priority here! Watch out for the spiders that make their way across the backs of the chairs along the windows, too. After 2 hours and 10 minutes, only 3 patients had been seen. It was at this point that I was verbally accosted for my paperwork and provided additional forms to fill out, further delaying my care, as I was in pain waiting to be seen for hours at this point. I decided enough was enough, and left to go to North Atlanta Urgent Care on Holcomb Bridge Road. I walked in to a clean, professional atmosphere, was treated with respect, filled out a single form and better yet – had an exam, x-rays, and was treated and on my way in LESS THAN 30 MINUTES! Save yourself several hours and drive an extra few miles to go somewhere for REAL healthcare, not this lazy sham of a business.
