My appointment was at 10:00am and I got here 15 minutes earlier since I am a new patient. It is now 10:45am and I am still in the waiting room. After finally being called to see the deromotologist I thought to myself lets after all give it another opinion. I was impressed! The doctor herself was amazing, literally knew her stuff in and out. I was so satisfied with her knowledge and passion that I decided on a prescription that I was debating on for three years. After I was finished with the doctor I believe it was the nurse that was asssiting me, she was the very OPPOSITE of the doctor. She told me to go to the front desk where the other two staff members were (very rude and did not know a thing they were doing). I was literally in shock with her lack of effort and sympathy to answer/explain any questions I had for her. The questions I was asking were very important, they were regarding when I should start taking birth control and how I should prepare myself for Acutane. Her answer- as long as you take it before my next appointment. Are you kidding me?? I repeatedly asked her when do I need to make sure to start taking birth control because it is very important that you are on birth control while on Accuatane, her response did not change. I told her I will Google it myself...For a fact I know that is NOT how you handle this process because my sister has taken Accutane. They are required by federal law to explain this procedure ( you are signing required paperwork from the government). They should also make sure that your blood work is okay- none of that happened..None of this was done..Not only did she not know the answers I believe she didnt know the full explanation of my questions. How sad? They could not care less to help me. They were more worried about seeing every patient in the waiting room... This girl clearly did not care about the patient or the patients questions/concerns. Please do yourself a favor, do some research and do not go here. You will save yourself some money, time, stress and energy!!!

Today was my first visit for a pretty ugly derm issue I am in. first I didnt realize it was in a renovated home, which was lovely. I walked in and was greeted by both the receptionists as soft music played in the background. To complete my paperwork I walked into the separated lobby area and was met with a tranquil water fixture, nice furniture, clean environment, and cool music playing from Pandora. I was called into the back, I think her name was Rhonda, not sure, but she was very pleasant and personable. I met with the doctor and she very thoroughly explained my condition and provided paperwork for further information. She explained my tx options and the issue in plain English, lol. It wasnt top executive level, but it wasnt grade school either, but just right for me. After the doctor told me what my tx would be I was a little scared. I told the doctor and her assistant jokingly (but really not jokingly) that I needed someone to hold my hand, LOL. a few minutes later another person comes in the room. So now its 3 staff (including the doctor) and myself and Im like Oh Lord what in the world is about to happen, LMBO. they brought someone to hold my hand while I received tx which included several (and by that I mean a lot of shots, lol) around one particular area as step one. It was a nice and pleasant experience, the aides made sure I knew how to take the medication and what to do. Even provided a pharmacy that would deliver one of my rxs. Good customer service use to be on life support, now its just DEAD. But I really enjoyed my experience at Bankhead Derm. Its a little out of the way from where I live, but if Im treated with such respect and delight Im willing to drive a few extra miles. Thank you everyone for making my experience nice. See you in 2 weeks! :-)

I beg you DO NOT GO TO THIS DERMATOLOGIST ... I ignored the other reviews and said, oh well, they are close they cant possibly be that bad, everyone is just whiners and too picky. NO THEY ARE RIGHT. This place is unbelievable. The Dr. is fine, but the office staff are TERRIBLE. This is no exaggeration. After getting a call from the nurse that I needed to have a procedure done I asked if I could please just speak with the Doctor. Dr. Straughn called me back and we had a full conversation where the specifically told me what I should have and what I should not have. I felt good. Then when the specialists called me back they said they only do the procedure that the Dr. specifically told me not to have done. After that it was a week of back and forth and I asked the nurse to ask the Dr. for the final word. So she said on, fine. She said to call her back at 4 Oclock as she doesnt leave until 4:40p. I set an alarm to call her back. (Keep in mind that this is after a week of calling and never getting a straight answer about anything). Welp I call back and the office says she has left for the day and that no one will be back until nearly middle of next week for the holiday weekend. I promise you it is not an exaggeration to say that this place is the absolute worse. I let them know to take me out of the system, and that I should have trusted these online reviews. Next time Ill know. You have choices people, and people are trying to warn you, do NOT waste your time on the unprofessional people who do not deserve your business or time. Oh and dont even get me started on how when I was in for the first visit, I just asked the doctor 1 question that veered away from my original visit reason and they charged me DOUBLE just because I asked that one question.

Let me start out by saying that Dr. Straughan was an excellent doctor and frankly the best dermatologist I have ever seen. She was quick, professional, gave me options on seeing me for the first time, and knocked out the procedure perfectly. She gets a 5-star rating. However an office can only be as good as their staff. The front office staff frankly are some of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered in a doctors office. They overbilled me (even though I told them they had the wrong rate when I was at the office and asked them to call my insurance company to confirm), made me come back to the office to sign an informed consent form after I had left (shouldnt that have been done before the procedure?) and now when I call to try to get a refund, I get consistently cut off, told to wait, and then get cut off and hung up on. Ive been perfectly polite albeit frustrated throughout the process, but regardless of my behavior good or bad, shouldnt the desk staff be pleasant? That in addition to having to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time before getting to see the doctor without any real communication as to why. The office staff gets one star. A five-star rating paired with a one-star rating averages to a three-star rating.

ABSOLUTE WORST!!!! I wish I could give negative stars. The staff is just horrible, HORRIBLE!!!! I had my appointment and the doctor said I would have 3 different prescriptions. So when the staff only handed me 2, I immediately questioned it. They said they would go ask real quick. They come back and tell me that the doctor said I only had "2 prescriptions". The next day I decided I would call again and ask. Sure enough, they now magically have 3 prescriptions for me. They said they were sending it to the pharmacy as we speak. So I call the pharmacy about an hour later to see if I can pick it up, she says I dont have a prescription for you. So I call the doctors office and ask about it again, says shell send it again. So here we are 6 hours later & the pharmacy still does not have it. I called the office, AGAIN (5th time now), the lady was extremely rude & unhelpful. Pick up the phone & call the prescription in if your fax isnt working. This is clearly too obvious of an answer though. This office proves to have forgotten who the customer is. So save yourself the time & go with a different office. Find somewhere with a more educated and kind staff.
