DISCLAIMER: This animal hospital is a bit expensive..... I dont want there to be any illusions on that whatsoever. Putting that aside I have two cats that my daughter and I have had since kittens. As a father (or parent for that matter) you know that animals are like family to children and not just us. I checked all of the animal hospitals I could research in the area and visited a few. While they seemed great, this hospital seemed to have the professionalism and knowledge I was looking for. I cant speak for others, however I was not asked how this was to be paid for ahead of time, which I agree would have turned me off to the hospital so I do hope they dont ask that of others. However I CAN UNDERSTAND how a business would be asking that simply because in order to stay a business that has to be determined. Lets be honest, how services are to be paid for is a part of a "business". With that out of the way, the staff was very nice and very knowledgeable. I brought our Orange Tabby "Jack" in to be neutered and they were very kind. They spent a few minutes while I was there with him to make sure he was not too uncomfortable. They broke down the recommended shots, vaccines, and procedures. They can do laser surgery or they can do the traditional procedure with scalpels. I chose laser because it is a much less painful procedure and overall healthier for him. They kept him overnight and I was to pick him up the next day. I wasnt able to do so but the staff was very kind and kept him another night for me (yes this was an extra charge but I understood and was ok with this because it was my responsibility to pick him up). Later I brought in our Calico "Kianna" and I received the same level of service. She was much more uncomfortable, however they did what they could to help her get comfortable. I was recommended vaccinations, procedures, etc. I was given an UP FRONT cost before I brought in our cats and I knew the cost going in and was prepared for that. Both times I saved and prepared for the laser surgery, the vaccinations, the pain medication for each, and the return appointment (which didnt cost anything, it was just check ups or pulling stitches). The neutering was roughly $280 and the spay was roughly $350. (I did not use any vouchers from the humane society since I felt that should be used for people who really need the assistance) I do not make a lot of money, but at the same time I dont struggle since I budget and while these were procedures that were a bit expensive it was well worth it in my eyes. In this type of business, in my opinion, you get what you pay for and though I more than likely paid more for these procedures that I needed to it was WELL worth it in my eyes. I do recommend this hospital to those who are looking for great care and service for their pets.

I have 4 dogs ( 2 min pins, a puggle ( yup daughter wanted a designer dog lol) and a pitbull ( my other daughter decided to drop off for xmas and forgot to take home with her ), 3 cats ( various ages ) and I have had a long time Vet in Dalton Ga. Being I moved to the Cartersville area I hated thinking of in an emergency having to shuttle the dog 90 mins away to Dalton, so when my pit became really sick and I was not sure of her shot record I looked on here and read some great reviews of this office. My vet in dalton would be a hard one to replace as I think the world of the Higdon Animal clinic in dalton but once I walked into this place my mind was set at ease. Dr McElwee was very kind and put my fears at ease about the possiblities she could be very sick he did a few tests and we were out of there and this morning Ms Kayna is a happy playful pitbull again. I will be getting my dr to fax over the records on our other dogs and cats and taking all my animals now to this awesome clinic. All I can say if if you ever need a vet, remember this place they were very very sweet to both the animal and family!

Before Nina even said hello she was asking how would I be paying for the visit, then my dog and I sat in a tiny exam room for over a hour before Dr. Mcelwee came in , all he did was listen to my dogs chest and take him to back where he said he did Xray, charged me over $400 , said my dog had a enlarged heart and excess fluid in abdomen, the 2 RXs he gave were for the heart and diuretic (increased urination=caused dehydration) took my dog for 2nd opinion Animal Hospital of Gordon they did multiple xrays, blood work, full exam prescribed 2 meds.and found what was really wrong, a tumor on his liver not fluid in abdomen like Dr. Mcelwee told me. I will NEVER use this vet again all they are about is $ not the health of your animal.

My little dachsund-terrier Gracey is quite a nervous little dog which makes going to the vet an incredible pain. She gets so worked up that it makes my wife a nervous wreck so now Im charged with the task of taking her by myself. However, since Ive started going here I have been very pleasenty surprised. They treat my dog very affectionately and in a manner that somehow soothes her in to being calm the entire visit. Its obvious the staff here has a gift for animals. Gracey doesnt hate going to the vet anymore and neither do I!

I love Dr Moore and his staff. He is straightforward and clear with what is going on, then he presents a plan of action, and discusses it with you, and answers questions patiently and thoroughly. The Dr will call on Sunday and follow up with you if needed...how many Docs do that? All the staff is friendly, and helpful. They are not the cheapest in town, but as is true in all things, you get what you pay for.

I just called about taking my newly adopted dog in. I did NOT ask anything about money, but the very first thing out of that womans mouth was initial exam price and extra charges! I am concerned about my pets health, of course I know it wont be free. So, this leads me to believe this place is not too concerned or compassionate about animals, just how much money they will get.
