They left a staple in my cats backside after he had to have a drain placed and then removed in that area. The first vet tech that assessed us was really great. He made me feel as though he was genuinely sorry that the sitatuon happened, and he showed genuine concern about how my cat was taken care of. However, the next person to come in and see us made me feel like utter crap. Young, thin lady with a long, strawberry blonde braid. She literally said, "oh look at how hidden that is. I would have missed that, too." Little did she know that before she came in, her coworker spotted the staple from across the room. He was literally able to take down the location of the staple from across the room with no trouble at all. She also made it seem like I had no reason to be upset. That stuff like that happens all of the time. She brushed and shrugged us off. I left crying. My cat is my baby. I feel this sort of thing should never happen. The staple had awkardly grown into his skin, and he did not have a good time going back there and having no topical pain reliever or anything to make him more comfortable as they ripped the staple out of him. We are finding him a new doctor. I wish all of the best for the first guy (he has really long dreadlocks. Probably in his 30s). He actually seemed to care and offered me and my cat compassion because we were both clearly upset. That other girl however really made me feel like my feelings and concerns about my baby were invalid, and like hurrying through procedures and mistakes like the one made with us are perfectly acceptable. No thanks.

Ive taken my pets to Dearborn for many years, and have had good experiences with every vet weve seen. Dr. Ellington in particular is incredibly devoted to the well-being of her patients; she cared for my two dogs from their youth through their twilight years with skill and compassion. She and the other veterinarians communicate clearly and thoroughly about my pets issues. As with any vet, this communication is enhanced when the pet owner provides clear and complete information, asks questions, and pays attention to what the vet says. Dont be afraid to ask questions -- the vets at Dearborn will take the time to understand your question and give you a thorough answer! Today my elderly, blind cat and I had our first experience with Dr. Duncan, who has a cheerful but authoritative bedside manner. She was quite gentle with the kitty, keeping her in her soft bed as she was removed from the crate so she wouldnt have to lie on the cold table. The cat seemed confident as long as she was in her familiar nest, so when Dr. Duncan took her back for blood work, she scooped the kitty up bed and all, and carried her like a baby in a blanket. My cat is easily frightened, and hides for days if we so much as bring a stranger in the house to fix a faucet. Im happy to say that when she got home from her vet trip today, she fell right back into her normal routine as if shed never been out of the house. Many thanks to Dr. Duncan for making the exam so easy on her.

Knowledgeable, affordable vet care. I have taken two cats to this vet and always been very pleased with the service. My first cat was in kidney failure when I moved to Atlanta and I needed a vet who could continue the treatments started by the vet where I previously lived. I was impressed with how knowledgeable the Dearborn vet was, she was familiar with the same treatments as the pricey, but highly rated previous vet. When the kidney failure became too advanced to treat, the vets were very kind and compassionate when I had my cat put to sleep. I adopted the second cat as a 10 year old and she had dental problems. She had to have her teeth cleaned and two teeth removed. Animal dental services tend to be really expensive, but the procedure was very affordable, as are all the services my pets have received there. I will say that you should be prepared for the experience. It is an older facility, which is not unexpected since the hospital tries to keep vet care affordable. It is clean, just not bright, shiny and modern. The hospital takes walk-ins and at certain times of the day the waiting area can be crowded and the reception desk backed up. If you have an appointment, you will usually not need to wait long ( the one exception being a day when a dog had been hit by a car and needed emergency surgery). If you are looking for a knowledgeable, kind, affordable vet, this is the place.

Yesterday we asked for our files from Dearborn and took them and our dog to a new vet, it was not a decision that came lightly as we absolutely love the doctors here. However, a front desk staff that is continuously rude and always has an attitude can only be tolerated for so long. As I just mentioned, the doctors here are phenomenal, they loved our dog like he was one of theirs and provided exceptional care for him during our time there. Over the 4th of July our dog was being treated for a snake bite on his foot and was having lots of complications, Dr. Ellington gave us her cell phone so that we could reach her over the holiday if needed. As far as the front desk staff goes they have been rude since day one. Whether you call them on the phone or are there in person they always seem to have a major attitude problem and the way they address and speak to their customers is uncalled for. As I read through reviews I see that others have experienced this as well and I think its extremely unfortunate that a vet with such great doctors has such a rude stuff representing them.

STAY AWAY!!! They are the absolute worst people on the planet! They are rude, dont answer their phones (if you do get them on the phone they hang up on you), and do not do what you ask them to do...and then they expect you to pay for it not to mention their terribly long wait times. They do not communicate anything with the customer. In fact when I called about getting my dogs medication they told me that I would need to show proof that I was in fact the owner when I had used their services in the past FOR THE SAME DOG! (apparently they do not document anything)! They admitted to me over the phone that they give dogs away to the wrong owners. I have been there multiple times and have never met the veterinarian; they always seem to be "too busy" to communicate with their customers. They are not organized. Not sure who is running this business but my dog could do a better job. Will never use them again, and I will tell everyone I know to do the same.

My husband and I adopted a stray kitten who developed severe GI problems, and we brought her into Dearborn Animal Hospital for treatment. Dr. Cely was excellent with her, seeing her three times over two days, and prescribed some medications and a particular kind of food that was easy on her digestive system. Our kitten was back to normal within a few days and we have continued to follow Dr. Celys recommendations. Dr. Cely was attentive, thorough, and clearly cares for the animals she treats. Additionally, I think Dearborn Animal Hospital waives the appointment fee for the first appointment of an adopted pet, and Dr. Cely provided us with samples to use and hardly charged us for anything for the first visit/follow-ups. I think this is a wonderful way to encourage people to adopt pets. We will definitely continue to take our kitten to Dearborn and Dr. Cely. In fact, we are returning very soon for follow-up immunizations.
