I have been a patient of Dr. Samakur for approximately 3 years. I was relatively happy with the care I was receiving until December- January 2017. I have lupus which has been under control until recently. Dr. Samakur would see me approximately 3 times a year just to make sure I am managing the disease ok. Since the Rx she prescribed was working, I was ok with this. December 2016, I had a horrible flare complete with flu symptoms and chest pain. When I called to try to set up an appointment to address this concern, the nurse Vanessa told me to go see my PCP 1st, and if the PCP thinks my symptoms are lupus related, then I could make an appointment with Dr. Samakur. I already knew this would be a waste of time and needless suffering as PCPs do not treat lupus. They are not equipped to diagnose lupus symptoms, this is what I am seeing Dr. Samakur for! In my pain and misery, I went to my PCP who, surprise surprise, could not diagnose me and recommended I go to the ER for my chest pain to rule out blood clots. Now having suffered with chest pain leading to pneumonia as a manifestation of a lupus flare, I knew the ER would be a waste of time and money. Vanessa did call me to check on me, and I told her what the PCP recommended. I asked again if it would not beneficial to be seen by Dr. Samakur. Vanessa said she would check, but she did not think there was anything the Dr could do for me. How does a nurse make a call about the treatment the Dr is able to provide? Finally, Vanessa said Dr Samakur wants to see me. Had Vanessa told Dr Samakur what my complaint was the 1st time I called, I could have avoided a wasted visit to the PCP and needless suffering for a whole day. Dr. Samakur gave me a steroid pack and a steroid shot to treat my flare. A week later, I was having severe chest pain again. I called the office to let them know, and I was prescribed more steroids and a CT scan was ordered. The day of the CT scan, my chest was in so much pain it hurt to lay down on the table. The tech had me wait after the scan so she could get results asap. I was released 30 minutes later and not given any information, but was told Dr. Samakur would call me with the results. I called the office later that morning and left a voicemail requesting the CT results as I was still in pain. Vanessa called me back two hours later and told me Dr. Samakur does not call with lab results, and she will review them with me at my next appointment. This was in January, my next appointment isnt until March. I called the office again the following week as I decided to fight for myself. It makes no sense to wait 2 months for test results when I am in pain. The receptionist took my number and told me the nurse would call be back. Never received a call back. I called again two days later, only to be told by Vanessa that they just got the CT results. Why was I just being told this when I called two prior times about these results? Vanessa said she would have Dr. Samakur review the scan and she would call me back. Vanessa did call me back the same day, only to say the results are normal. So I am left taking steroids and ibuprofen to manage my pain. Dr. Samakur is an ok provider when you are not in a medical crisis. The office staff is uncaring and unprofessional. I will not be using her services anymore.

I was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in May of 2016. I chose Dr. Samakur and am now regretting it. In August I asked for a prescription and was told that it would be called in by 6 pm. After an hour and a half of sitting at the pharmacy waiting, it was never called in. The next day I was told that their system went down and that they were sorry. I guess they forgot how to use a phone to call the script in the old fashion way. Then In September I called and requested a prescription again for my pain on a Thursday at 2 pm. I never heard back from them and they were closed on Friday. You cant reach a Dr. after hours at all. They only take calls from other Dr.s or the ER. It was Labor Day weekend, so guess what, I had to wait till Tuesday the next week to get in touch and ask again. I have called many times and have a message telling me that I am next in line and they will be right with me, then 10 minutes later, I am transferred to their voice mail. Then today, I call to find out what is up with my routine blood work which was taken 3 weeks ago. They tell me the Dr. wants me to come in ASAP to check my liver and kidney. This worries me and I think something is wrong with the results and they are wanting to recheck me. NO, that was not it. They say the lab spilt my blood and never ran the test. WHY is it that it has been 3 weeks and I am just hearing about this? I asked about my blood work on the 1st and again today and if I hadnt asked twice would I have ever been told? They say that the lab did not notify them, I do not believe that. Dr. Samakur is nice, but after the first visit was less attentive to me on the second visit. I had asked her about pain in my left foot, she blew me off and said that it had nothing to do with RA. Really??? From everything I have read about RA, foot pain is a very common problem. It is also ironic that since increasing my dosage of medication, the foot pain is now gone. She did not even bother to ask me for details about what my pain felt like, what part of my foot or anything, she just blew it off. I was considering becoming part of a current research study and had sent over the request for medical records from the research company. This was done over a month ago and at my appointment, Dr. Samakur, tried to discourage me from participating. I told her that I would decide what I wanted to do after I went to the initial screening and reviewed what the research entailed. I found out today that they never bothered to send my medical records to the research study even though they had the signed request to do so. I will now be seeing a new Dr. and am a very unhappy patient who doesnt feel valued at all.

I have a patient of Dr. Samakurs for a little over a year, and when I was diagnosed with Lupus by my Ob/Gyn he sent me to Dr. Samakur. At first I thought she was nice and everything was going fine. She advised me because of having Lupus I need not to have anymore kids, because it would not be good for my health. She told me I could potentially lose my life if I tried to have anymore kids, and I needed to look into getting my tubes tied. I then spoke with my Ob/Gyn and told him what I was told and he scheduled me to get my tubes tied after giving birth. I had a healthy baby girl and went on to get my tubes tied. I was devastated, but knew it was the right thing to do because of my health. After giving birth and going back to Dr. Samakur, she did blood work which was fine because by this point I was used to it. I then had to go back for my results, and then I was told by Dr. Samakur that I in fact do not have Lupus. That it could be Rheumatoid Arthritis. So I asked her why would u tell me that I couldnt have anymore kids because of having Lupus. She tells me, "I never told you not to have kids, and to get your tubes tied. I am not allowed to give anyone that kind of advice". Now by this point I was completely pissed off, because I know thats what she told me and now she tells me she didnt say that and I dont have Lupus. I honestly am at a lost for words when it comes to what my next step should be.
