When I moved to Covington a few years ago, my cat had several serious medical issues. We took her to the three vets in Covington - all of whom had no idea of the meds she was on. We decided shortly after the move the kindest thing we could do was let her go and I drove over an hour back to my vet in Lawrenceville for her last visit simply because I didnt like or trust the three vets in Covington. A year later, I adopted three very sick kittens. I called my former vet for a name of a good doctor in the area. He highly recommended Dawn Delong in Monroe. It was about a 20 minute drive each way but well worth it! Dr. Delong nursed my three cats back to health through some really extensive treatments and now they are all beautiful, healthy cats. I moved about six months ago back to the city but drove out one more time to see her and have the animals get their yearly shots. All three cats purred and purred when Dr. Delong came in the room. They absolutely love her! The thing I like most about working with Dr Delong was she would call me personally to discuss how the animals were responding to treatment. She worked within my budget. She is open to alternative treatments. She always takes time to check in with the owner and also to let the animals get comfortable before examining them. And her great staff have the most engaging animals in the office - sometimes even a pig! So if youre anywhere in the Covington-Monroe-Athens area, give this vet a try. Shes great!

PHENOMENAL CARE! I have been taking my pets (cats and dog) to Dr. DeLong for years. I have always been very impressed with her diagnosis and treatments knowing that she always goes the extra mile for her patients. My mothers cat was very ill and after seeing her normal vet in Woodstock twice a day for a week with the only recommended treatment being a Epsom salt soak for the swollen area, we brought the cat on a 1.5 hour drive to Dr. DeLong. She was able to diagnose the cat with an extremely aggressive osteosarcoma and referred us to UGA Vet School. The surgeon at the vet school said it was lucky that we brought him in when we did as the cancer was so aggressive and animals normally dont survive after a diagnosis. The cat is still doing great 4 years following his amputation and goes back to visit Dr. DeLong whenever he needs medical attention. Now pets from our family and extended family go to Dr. DeLong- even if they have to travel 3 hours for the visit. She is a phenomenal vet and I highly recommend her both for routine care and emergency visits. In the past I have brought her injured stray cats (from attacks by other animals and one with a crushing spinal injury from being trampled by a horse) and I was sure they wouldnt make it, but she has saved every one.

We took our little bird to this vet on recommendation by our local pet shop when our bird had a few seizures. The vet and staff were very nice and knowledgable and did an excellent job caring for our bird and educating me and my children in how to take even better care of our pet.
