The doctors here are nice enough but they have a habit of second guessing everything that I bring to them regarding my health and the same is true for the concerns of my family. I decided to address my hypothyroidism with natural remedies before using the prescription the doctor gave me and I was scolded profusely about how I was going to end up in a Myxedema coma only to find that the natural remedies worked. My mother had questions for her doctor regarding the menopausal symptoms she was experiencing and instead of answering those questions, the doctor spent the entire time trying to convince my mother that she was not going through menopause, only for it to be confirmed in the blood work (which my mother had to insist upon because the doctor found it unnecessary) that she was in fact menopausal. Another doctor refused to recommend my sister to a dietician and instead just told her that she needed lap bands, even though in order to get lap bands you must see a dietician for a minimum of 6 months and you cant go to the dietician without a referral from your doctor. My other sister was having trouble with her eyes that caused her to be extremely sensitive to light for 3 or 4 days at a time and her doctor basically told her that it was all in her head. If it was just one instance then I may have let it slide but again it seems that the doctors at Rockbridge Family Medicine do not take the concerns of their patients seriously and I would warn you to take heed when considering them as your PCP.

I am a patient at this facility and was recently hospitalized for over a week. I currently have an active infection, have a PICC line in my arm and taking intravienous antibiotics. I called today to request an appointment with my PCM and was given Sept 14th as first available. Thats a month from now!! Also the person taking my call hung up on me when I tried to argue my situation. My next visit to this office will be to get my records so I can find an office that cares about their patients.
