When my family moved here to Georgia in June of 2007 from New Jersey, we used this vet for a while and was okay with them as far as when it came to giving our animals checkups and shots. That change when Sarah, a now deceased canine, became diagnosed with diabetes. They give her the wrong insulin to use and gauge us for money for her treatment as well as treating us like we were poor pet owners who did not know what we were doing. My mom found a different vet to find out that Sarah has diabetes, Cushings disease, pancreatitis, a chicken allergy, became blind due to diabetes, and is insulin resisted. In most studies, dogs with any of these diseases die within a year. With proper treatment and determination from her as well as my family (we already proved a vet wrong before with a Guinea Pig), Sarah lived three years before her body decided to eat itself and we put her to sleep in October of 2011. Fast forward to February 13, 2017; we take in our new female puppy named Micaiah due to testing positive for Parvo at another vet. While they somewhat treated my parents with respect, they were still gauging for money as they wanted $450 per day of in-patient care. Luckily, they talked us out of putting her down and try an out-patient treatment once they heard what we did with Sarah. They, unfortunately, required that we bring her in every day. The next day, my boyfriend and I bring her in. Due to our young age, they acted very stiff, nearly refused to answer questions, demean us for putting "the puppy through this," that "she will die without in-patient care," and rude towards us. Then, they told us in an angry, uncontrollable voice that to me sounded like they have a zero percent rate with parvo cases at their clinic. Like my parents before me, I called another vet for another option and set up an appointment. Come to find out that the towne lake vet did not bother to give us two medications that helped her, did not give enough of one medication to help her, fail to tell us what temperature the quarantine room should be, gave us wrong information about the parvovirus, and that taking her constantly to the vet each day was not helping her health. Thanks to trusting my gut and the Bells Ferry Vet (whose in-patient and out-patient treatment for parvo is a lot cheaper as well as works. If puppy is eating and holding it down, $300-$500. If not, $760-$1120. Out-patient care: $240-300 as we discovered for Micaiahs sister, Lucy), Micaiah as well as Lucy is healthy, alive, and acting like a puppy should. Never again with this vet place.

I wanted to inform everyone of our terrible experiences the past several visits at Animal Hospital of Towne Lake. Let me start with my most recent visit- Saturday, 3/21 at 9am. I had scheduled an appointment for Saturday several weeks prior for my 8 year old Chihuahua to have her 6 mos ProHeart injection ONLY. When my husband and I arrived at 9am, we were told there would be a long wait and that they were UNSURE of how long it would be, that they had no rooms available and no technicians. I explained that this was not for an exam, only an injection and I had an appt. The staff seemed to care less and continued to look clueless as to how long we might be waiting. I explained to the woman behind the counter that our last visit in September was a similar situation, that we arrived on time to our appointment and waited OVER TWO HOURS to see someone! Overall, that visit in September took almost 4 hours. My dog is epileptic and her seizures tend to happen when shes nervous. I also explained this to the staff member, and she did not seem to care. I explained that we wouldnt be able to wait too long as our dog is epileptic and asked what time we could bring her back that day-- she, again, said that she didnt know and that I would need to call back to "reschedule". This was very frustrating, so my husband and I left. Moving back on prior visits (before September 2014), theres been a series of unhappy experiences. Our Chihuahua is now on a daily medication for her seizures, but when we were having her diagnosed, we were treated extremely poor. We were talked down to with words like "this is a big responsibility to care for a dog with epilepsy" (implying that we didnt understand the severity), and "are you even financially able to do this treatment?". It was all upsetting as we have cared for our fur baby for the past 8 years with the upmost love and care. Theres nothing we wouldnt do for our girl. Another instance, relating to the seizures, was another staff member (a separate visit) told us a story of a "similar dog" to ours who had seizures and died from them quickly. I think it goes without saying that its probably not a great idea to mention those type of stories to loving dog owners. We understand the outcomes, we dont need the sad stories. To conclude, we have given Animal Hospital of Towne Lake several chances and after Saturday- we will not be returning. We have already booked next Saturday with another vet for the ProHeart injection.

If I could give Animal Hospital of Towne Lake more than 5 stars I would! I drive over 35 minutes just to take my furbabies to them! They are the most caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and sweetest staff that I have ever seen! I am always greeted with a smile and they always make me feel like my baby and myself are important. I have presented some very interesting illnesses through my 20+ year relationship with one of the doctors, and any one of doctors have been able to help with the diagnosis! They are truly amazing! Everyone there always goes above and beyond to take care of us and I am so thankful for that. My furbabies are a part of my family and I dont take their care lightly. I want the best for them and to always know that they are in the very best hands. I have always felt that they are at AHTL and never have been concerned that they are receiving anything less than the very best while there. I have recommended many friends to AHTL, and they love it as well!! You honestly cant ask for anything more. I just had to say goodbye to one of my precious babies, and the tears were in their eyes as I cried saying good bye. Now THAT is compassion...THAT is caring and THAT is the kind of treatment you dont get just anywhere. I could go on and on about how wonderful everyone here is! They truly are that good and that special. They are my "pediatrician" for my furbabies and I am very picky! Thank you Animal Hospital of Towne Lake for all you do! You all are the best and I cant imagine going through any of this without knowing you were always there to help!

About a month ago, our dog Zoey woke up on a Saturday morning acting very strangely - enough so that we knew she needed to be seen by the vet asap, and we did not want to do a drop off. We normally take our animals to Banfield Pet Hospital, but after several calls we found that none of them in the Woodstock/Roswell/Kennesaw/Marietta areas could get her in to be seen that Saturday. I had taken her to AHTL in the past when I lived in Towne Lake, so I gave them a desperate call and they worked her in to be seen on the spot. I was so glad, because a few x-rays later it was discovered that she had a massive tumor on her spleen that needed to be taken out immediately as it was starting to cause other emergent issues. Dr. Jantzen did the surgery that same afternoon and then saw us again the next day for a post-op visit. She needed a bit more followup over the next few days, so we also saw Dr. Monroe. Every single person from the front desk staff to the doctors to the techs were so caring and compassionate towards us and Zoey. We were so, so grateful that they acted so quickly for us and never once made us feel like our concerns were unimportant. I will be taking all of my animals back there regardless of the fact that we are still paying for the Banfield wellness plans on two of them - you just cant beat the amazing care. Banfield has always been good to us, but they are always so busy and if you are looking for that something extra in a vet, it just isnt quite there. We are eternally thankful to Dr. Jantzen and the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake.
