I finally switched vets after taking my two dogs to this vet clinic for a year and a half. Many things prompted me to switch, but I finally had it when I had an emergency with my dog and they told me to wait to bring her in until the next day because they close at Noon on Wednesdays. This was not acceptable and my dogs emergency turned out to be quite serious so I was thankful I didnt wait an extra day. Prior to this event, I found a lump on my other dogs chest and took her in to have it examined. The vet said hed like to perform surgery to have it removed and have it biopsyed once it was off. The estimate came in at over $600, but said I needed to think about it. I had my new vet look at the lump and she took a sample of cells to determine it wasnt cancerous. It cost $88. I feel that the Hawthorne vet tried to scam me and Im glad I didnt allow it. Additionally, I felt like the front desk staff was never helpful or kind (with the exception of Cherry) and the vet was very clinical but not personable. I went to them for as long as I did because the location is close to my house, but I should have listened to my gut from day one and not gone back. I feel strongly that Hawthorne is over priced, not personable, uncaring and will take advantage of you if you allow it.

I truly wish I could give this Animal Care Center more than 5 stars. The staff has always been helpful and pleasent, and the Vets amazing. The "Care Center" in the title truly says it all. We had to put one of our cats down. This was a horribly hard decision for my family and they helped us realize what was best for EVERYONE. We also received a card later that week in the mail. It was very thoughtful and touching. We also had two litters of puppies born. Our first litter was wonderful, they were very helpful in educating us in what we needed to do. Our second litter was larger, and we had some very weak little puppies. The vet came out to me and explained that she wanted to "prepare my heart" because one of the puppies had almost died during the exam and procedure. While after a wonderful discussion and many tears, we did what we could, but still ended up losing some of our sweet puppies at home. I can honestly say, that my heart would NOT have been prepared if our vet had not informed me about what was happening, provided me the knowledge to do what I could to try to keep them, and understand that such large litters, can result in some not being able to make it. I am so grateful that we found such a truly "caring" place to take our loved animals!

Dr. Anderson and his staff, including the vet who covers for Dr. Anderson when he is away, are AWESOME! I have used their services for three years and never had a problem. In fact, when I had to put my beloved dog to sleep, everyone cried and they let me hold him as long as I wanted. When I went to pick up his ashes (from working in the funeral business it does take a while to get ashes back), the loving staff knew what I was there for and I never had to say a word. Dr. Anderson has cared for two of my dobermans. He is gentle and very respectful of the patient and owner. To the person who wrote the negative rating...if youve been around the country and experienced some of the vets I have, you would be quiet. Hawthorne is clean, doesnt smell, and they have fantastic service. If you havent noticed, you are in central IL. And, Dr. Anderson cares for ALL of our Lords creatures...its on his advertising.

I had an emergency come up with one of my puppies (6months). He needed surgery because he was getting very sick from eating acorns. One lodge in his intestines and he needed surgery to remove it. The vet would NOT work with me. The options she gave: Take him home and watch him die or give up my rights so they could do the surgery then an animal shelter got to adopt my dog out! I wouldnt get the credit card due to not knowing exactly how much said surgery would cost. It started at $2,000.00. Wonder if the animal shelter paid that!?! And my husband cant work due to a broken finger. Still nothing. So now my family and I have no puppy. I have never met the other vets so that was the ONLY reason they get 2 stars. Front desk was rude.

Hawthorne and particularly Cherry are exceptional! While passing through Bloomington on our way to family holiday visits our 16 yr old Lhaso died in her sleep. We were at a loss at how to give our beloved companion a proper memorial away from home and contacted Hawthorne seeking assistance. Cherry took our call with compassion and sincere concern offering us options to consider. We elected to have Patches cremated with the cremations to be sent to our home. Less than two weeks after we lost our pet we had closure when her carefully packaged urn was delivered to our home. Thank you Cherry!

In answer to Hawthorne is Horrible....I had a dog cared for and put to sleep there. The people are very caring. The vet is first class. If I had to put my pet to sleep a second time I would return to Hawthorne. I am getting a new puppy, and he already has a first appointment with Hawthorne, and I plan to board him there as I did in the past. This facility is very clean, with first class facilities, and they invite you to visit them before you bring in your animal. Dont listen to Alfred (Hawthorne Is Horrible) make an informed judgment by yourself.

We had to have our 4 year old cat declawed, he started clawing our walls. They used the laser for the surgery and gave extra pain meds. When we got him home a few days later, you would never know hed had anything done, he was happy and playing and jumping up and down off the couch and bed. It was the best 2 paw declaw weve ever had done. Ive also taken another cat to them who became seriously ill. They were wonderful and diagnosed him correctly the first time. Dr. Anderson is a very knowledgeable and his staff is the best.

We had to put our pet down and when we called to talk to them they said, "ok" and that is it. This is not the first time that the front desk was not pleasant. They overall are not bad folks and the Vets are wonderful so I cannot say they deserve less than a three stars but my experiences were not always great. You need folks that love animals and love to help people to have a great all around Vet. We do thank them for the services they did provide for us while we were clients.

Our non-profit animal rescue group has worked with Hawthorne a few times in the past. During those times, it is obvious that the dogs received good care and the staff had their best interest in mind. We have taken in pets from them that have had major surgeries and each time, the pets came to us in good condition, fully vaccinated, and altered. We appreciate them going above and beyond for the pets and for working with rescues when they have animals that need placement.
