I am a 55yo male, and here is what happened to me.I had my exam at Kessler optical and had glasses made by the eye center.A young Asian girl asked me to scoot forward to mark my glasses. My knees were against her desk,so i had to LEAN forward while she was standing to mark my glasses.I KNEW they would be wrong, but she said,It be ok.So i get my glasses and the bifocal lens are only a 1/4" high.I take them back and another Asian girl does the SAME THING,then tells me,i sorry, but ur glasses are fine.Thats when i blew, because i took the bad glasses to Kessler to check them.He remarked where they should have been made, but had to erase those marks They said these were the very worse lens they have ever seen made.Anyway, the head Doc at The Eye Center comes out and sez, listen,i have been doing this for 40 years.I said ok,but i dont usually dont drive down the road with my head laying on a desk.He marks me himself, and sez,NO WONDER you cant see out of these. They are at least 4cm off and 5cm off the width.Got my remade glasses they are fine, but like others have posted, the young girls that work there do NOT have a clue what they are doing. But there phones are always handy.Unless you deal directly with the Doc,i wouldnt advise going there. It is a JOKE.BOTH ladies marked me leaning forward on a desk while they were STANDING,not at my eye level, and they argued saying they know what they were doing.LOL Its a joke!

This is the only place I would go if I had anything serious going on with my eyes. I think the problem is that 1.) they have gotten a sudden increase in patients in the past year, and 2.) They do not turn anyone away, including patients with medicare and medicaid (and it is hard for those folks to find doctors to accept them). I think they need to move to expand; not easy with a constant influx of patients, and new staff. The doctor (Samir Sayegh) is on par with the top tier of opthomalogists in the world. He contributes and maintains research, practices, and technologies that are the latest and best. If you have ever been to the top-ranked UIC eye clinic you would see a similar environment: crowded waiting rooms, the best doctors, very busy, late appointments (spending time w/each patient and doing surgeries in the hospital), not the latest decor. If you only need a new prescription and a cushy office, go elsewhere. I know they are working on the appt. lateness and staff difficulties (although I have only encountered friendly and polite behavior from them). What I would do is make sure I have the first appt. in the morning or after lunch (ask the staff for the best time to get in and out). I have been there many times and have never seen it dark, dirty, or looking like a garage. That said, after so many people in and out-Im sure it gets messy.

I have been Dr. Richardson at The Eye Center Champaign three times now in three weeks. Each time Ive waited for at least 20 minutes past my appointment time (at most 1 hour and 15 minutes). Every time I wait not because the doc is busy with other patients, but because he sits at the desk and stares into space. The first time I went they upped by contact prescription 8 steps!! Totally wrong. Went back and he gave me a new one... still wrong. Went back again and all he did was switch which eye I put each contact in. Still wrong. At the third appointment I waited for 25 minutes so that he could call me in, have me look at one letter and write me a prescription for contacts I told him I was allergic to every time I saw him. AND my contacts are still wrong he just refuses to try to get it right. I have been wearing contacts for 12 years and have never had such major problems. I am not one to get really mad about service, but this was beyond terrible. Youd be better off at a Lenscrafters or something. Save yourself a ton of time and frustration and do NOT go to The Eye Center.

If I were able to give this place zero stars I would. Went in for an eye exam and a pair of glasses, made an appointment and everything. They had me sitting in the waiting area total of an hour and a half. The total time I spent with the actual doctor was 10 minutes at best. While I was getting my exam, the lenses were blurry through the whole ordeal and when I brought this to his attention, he did nothing to fix the problem. I knew the prescription was bogus before he even handed me the paper. I called my old doctor back at home and the prescription this new guy gave me was soooo far off my old doctor laughed and asked me if I was kidding. The office is a mess, there are literally files every. The staff is completely mediocre. I over heard them (couldnt help but hear since they were so loud) laughing at this lady that kept calling because her glasses should have been ready for pick. After the receptionist got off the phone with the woman, they cackled and said shell get them when she gets them. I dont understand how this place is still open.

Dr. Richardson was TERRIBLE with my 4 year-old. Please, if you are a parent, do NOT take your child there. I thought my daughter was going to have a good experience at the eye doctor. He totally traumatized her by being a complete jackass to her. And she did nothing but think that the eye doctor was going to be nice to her. He got frustrated with her, because she couldnt read the letters right. Ordered her to have her eyes dialated and then didnt even bother to check on her after that. Your child should never leave the eye doctor crying...mine did. Please, dont make the same mistake I did. Do your homework and take your child to a place that cares about children, and to a place where the doctor at least introduces theirself to you and your child before they go any further. Absolute worst experience EVER!!!! I will be writing a letter to the BBB about my experience there.

You will be badly ripped off here! The office is overcrowded. I had to wait 3 hours to be seen. All I wanted was a simple eye exam. They charged a total of $605 for it. The bill included multiple procedures that I *did not ask for* and were not covered by my vision insurance, which should fully cover one eye exam per year (but not the additional stuff these guys charge). BUT THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING. So, instead of my vision insurance, they charged it to my regular health insurance (UNITED), which pays parts of the bill, but leaves me with a large deductible and a large co-payment. NEVER EVER going there again. Stay away from them.

THIS PLACE WAS HORRIBLE!!!! I WISH I HAD SEEN THESE REVIEWS EARLIER. NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!! They gave me the wrong prescription (after I waited 2 weeks to get the contacts), really wrong, and then when I went back to get it fixed they told me there was no POSSIBLE prescription in between my old one and the new one they prescribed - which I believe was untruthful or just very ignorant. I went to Kessler Optical and they gave a new prescription that works much better. What makes me the angriest is that they refused to fix the mistake and then charged me a co-pay!!! If I could give zero stars I would
