My husband and I went on May 13, 2011. We each had no problems with Dr. Frankel (himself) or the exam. Our issues came with the staff when the orders were placed for our glasses. We were told it would take 7 to 10 business days for our glasses to come in. We have VSP and the lenses have to be made at a VSP lab. I called on business day 7 to see if the glasses were in. I was advised mine were and my husbands were not. I was told his would be a few more days. I called again on business day 11 to see if his glasses were in and was advised they were not give it a few more days. I called on business day 12 and was advised tha same thing. I called again on business day 13 and was advised that it was my insurance companies fault that my husbands glasses werent in as the frames apparently were on backorder. No one ever called us to let us know they were on backorder. I was advised it would be 7 to 10 more business days before the glasses would be in as the frames had just been released after being on backorder the day I called which was (business day 12). I called my insurance VSP because this seemed totally unfair that we were never advised. Turns out after all was said and done that Family Eye Care of Bolingbrook received notice that the frames were on backorder when they placed the order (May 13, 2011) and never advised us. They only advised us on business day 13 when I called and complained and said I wanted a prescription written out of the lenses so I could take my business elsewhere. With the help of my insurance VSP, the order was put in as a rush and hopefully my husband will have his glasses in 3 business days. We will never go back there. Its just wrong to pay for a service and then be constantly lied to about the status.

First visit with Dr Martinez for our 15 yo daughter. As a health care provider, I tent to have high expectations from others in the field. This practice exceeded my expectations! Reviewed contacts versus glasses and future eye care needs based on her astigmatism. Dr Martinez was kind, informative and helpful. The visit was not rushed in any way, even though it ran a bit late (past closing hours). The office staff was very polite. Olivia assisted with choosing frames and did contact teaching with my daughter. Olivia was patient, kind and resourceful. The entire visit was a resounding success! I would definitely recommend Family Eye Care to family, friends and neighbors!

I usually dont write reviews but what an amazing experience! Ive been to many opticals in my day and it seemed I was never satisfied until now. I couldnt believe how nice and professional everyone was! This was the first time I felt appreciated and really cared for. Dr. Frankel was very thorough and listened to my needs. Very nice place and looks modern, after all, we deserve the best care with todays best technology. The staff were friendly and answered all my questions, and boy do I ask a lot of questions. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great eye doctor, friendly staff, and nice glasses.

The doctor was late to my visit by 20 min if Im on time he should be on time. He was not interested in anything I said almost to the point of mocking or maybe it was smugness. Not any better then Costco, thought it would be more detailed but it was the same corporate eye exam. Not planning on revisiting. I felt like a dollar sign not a patient and the scare tactics to upgrade the exam were not amusing or effective. UPDATE: Originally the review was 2 stars. It is 4 now because the doctor reached out to explain and apologize. Everyone has bad days and him reaching out means he cares about unhappy customers too.

The doctor was very professional and explained each part of the exam performed. My insurance had them listed as preferred and it ended up saving me a lot of money. I did opt for a retinal photograph which is not covered by my insurance but I didnt want dilated so it was a viable option at 45 dollars. Im extremely picky about choosing glasses but after searching for a while did find what I like. They had a large selection displayed and they even brought out more samples not on the wall after narrowing out the style and brand I liked. Glasses came in under a week which was quicker than other places Ive gone to.

We love Family Eye Care, and especially Dr. Hal. He takes the time we need to make sure we understand everything and is very patient. We take our special needs son there and the office staff and Dr. Hal are wonderful with him. When his glasses needed replacement, we had a quick turn around on them. His vision, which is impaired greatly, never had to suffer. The office is very modern, state of the art, and the staff very courteous and professional.

Our entire family has been going to Family Eye Care for over 10 years and have always had a great experience. Dr. Frankel always takes his time with us and gives us a thorough explanation of our exam. We have been pleased with the contacts and glasses he has prescribed for us. The staff is also very friendly and professional. Family Eye Care is the only place I have ever recommended to others for their eye care needs.

I have been using Family Eye Care for years and have always been satisfied. They are very professional, are on time, have the latest in technology/eye tests, also use technology for reminders, appointment setting, etc. There is a very good selection of frames - Ive never had a complaint and highly recommend this practice.

Very bad and rude staff. Misplaced my order, could not get it. Talked to the rep Vivian. No apology was offered.It took two reps to get one order in the first place. Wasted 3 hours of my time. Never go there again. Left a voicemail to the owner dr. Henkel. Not expecting a call back.

Ive been a patient with Dr. Frankel for about 7 years. Dr. Frankel and his team are professional and courteous and they actually care about what is best for the patient. The new location is very nice and clean inside. Id highly recommend the practice to anyone!

Amazing service! As a Canadian temporarily visiting the States I was having a bit of difficulty getting contact lenses. The staff working there is phenomenal and quickly helped me get a new set of lenses. I highly recommend this place to everyone.
