My wife and I found out we were pregnant. Her doctor told her to make an appointment with an OB-GYN. Her insurance company referred her to Advocate Health Care-Ravenswood. She called and made her appoinment. A couple days before the appointment my wife began having health issues and I took her to the hospital. The doctor at the hospital treated her and recommended that she see an OB-GYN soon for further tests. Luckily we already had an appointment. When my wife arrived for her appointment. The lady at the front desk told her that they were refusing to see her because they were "swamped" with work. My wife begged them to see her and explained the stress she had been going through the last few days. The lady at the front desk didnt care and told her to just go home and take some prenatal vitamins. So they argued with my wife and stressed her out even more and turned her away. And she had to make another appointment somewhere else and wait days longer to see an OB-GYN. So before you make an appointment here, make sure they dont have much work to do. And make sure you have a back up appointment.

ER front desk with spider web tattoo waited impatiently for a wheelchair-disabled patient in the waiting room to come forth without offering any assistance. A kind young lady took the job of the nurse and moved her to the check-in room. When brought to care, young nurse dropped blood samples, and repeatesly forgot equipment for blood draw. Doctor was distracted and coughing during initial meeting. Later meetings with him were more caring and friendly. Hope they make radical changes to the beginning of the ER experience so patients dont suffer dread that made the wrong choice to visit Advocate.

The best time to come to this awesome doctors office is towards the end of the work day when the rush has gone. Ive always received top-quality service and care here. Its not the kind of place you go to have one steady doctor for years at a time, but they keep such good records that I feel like my care is mainly consistent and helpful. Most of all, they truly do not rush you in and out like a drive-thru docs office. You receive personal and respectful attention and lack of judgmental attitudes. GREAT staff here.

The gynecologist I saw was very rough with me and did not stop when I told him he was hurting me. I am a survivor of sexual assault and had a full blown panic attack during my exam. If you are a survivor too, please do not see Dr. Thakkar.
