While the expertise of the vets working at this clinic are probably second to none, the business side of it is terrible. They are very expensive and will charge for unnecessary tests year after year. I had gotten my dog last year, which was raised by a family member, so I had extensive records of tests and shots which she had already had. Just because the previous vet uses a different regimen in those early weeks, they insisted on redoing every test just so I could get a rabies shot and a prescription to buy Sentinel heartworm/flea protection online. My dog has stayed on protection month after month, is completely healthy, and they want her to come in for a heartworm test before they will renew her prescription. I will never go back to this vet and always laugh at all of the suckers inside when I pass on Belmont.

Overall we really like Higgins. It has parking, is conveniently located, the clinic is clean, and the technicians are always friendly. We loved our veterinarian Dr. Sanchez. He went above and beyond in taking care of our often sick golden retriever. When we had an emergency and had to bring her in, he often wouldnt charge us the emergency fee. He always remembered her and her ailments and was just a really kind-hearted vet. He has since then left the practice and started his own practice. Right now we are in limbo with which vet we will switch too because although the other veterinarians seem good, none have compared to Dr. Sanchez . . . I have never had a problem with the business side of things at Higgins and I have been bringing my dog there for about 4 years so I cannot vouch for the other comments.

My husband and I recently moved to the neighborhood, and I was glad to find a vet that is just around the corner! I took my cat in for his annual exam and vaccinations, and everything in the treatment plan was explained to me prior to starting any procedures. I really appreciated that the staff described pricing up front! As a new patient, the exam was free (bonus)! The doctor spent a significant amount of time examining my cat and answering my questions concerning his diet. The staff followed up with us a week later to see how he was doing, which I thought was very sweet. The only negative thing about our visit was that we were the first appointment of the day, but we were brought back to our room 15 minutes late. I would highly recommend Higgins Animal Clinic to anyone in Roscoe Village!

This is the WORST vet office Ive ever been to. Do not take your dog there! They charge $60 for an office visit with the Docs (they get you by giving you your first visit free), who I swear do not seem to know what they are doing. All I asked for was an ear cleaning and they charged me $97 because they claimed he needed a full body exam! Also, all the women at the front desk look like theyre hung over or something. Wait times are also ridiculous at this place. Save your money and go further away! This place looks nice on the outside but that is all they have going for them. I never go on yelp to review places because I usually do not complain, but I feel I am obligated to share with the Lakeview residents how bad this place sucks!

Were back! Higgins was my vet for a dog that I lost in October 2014 and let me tell you... They rocked it for me! I was devastated when I realized that I was going to have to put my little guy down but they let me stay with him for hours in a little room until I was ready to see him off. I still cant think about it without getting a little emotional because the pure level of compassion that they showed me was just incredible. So here I am a year later with a new pup... I wouldnt have anyone else. So honored and happy to have this vet in my neighborhood. Oh I should also mention that they have an incredible group of highly skilled Veterinarians! Youre little pet family member will be in great hands at Higgins Animal Clinic.

Their hours are flexible for working professionals and they ALWAYS take the time to explain treatment plans and will answer any questions that I have. I will always trust Higgins with my animals.

I highly recommend Higgins, especially Dr. Damiana. I have a rescue dog from One Tail at a Time with some medical conditions so we are very familiar with the staff at Higgins. Everyone has been kind, patient, knowledgable and goes out of their way to make my anxious pup feel comfortable.

This place is wonderful. My cat was very ill not too long ago and Higgins took every step into making her better. When I contacted my vet Dr. Ross with questions, she always called me back to discuss options for my cat. Their staff is courteous. Very happy with my experience.

not trusted diagnosis, I bring my dog to another vet cause it had a weird hot spot (cause of an allergy dust)now is better recovering, but I bring it first to Higgins and the want me to spend $280 cause they try to scare me that my dog has cancer,very expensive too
