I love the staff at Animal House of Chicago! We have taken both of our birds there, first our parakeet and now our Grey, for many many years. Most places are not as well versed with the care of birds and they know and are bird owners themselves! They are also the only people we trust with boarding of our grey. I know our grey gets lots of attention when he stays there and is out of the cage a lot, like he is used to at home. Our favorite vet is Dr Jenny because she takes her time, and we feel she really knows us and our Grey. When we lost our parakeet, Dr Jenny cried with us, and we have never forgotten her kind words and generosity that day. Linda, Stephanie and Sara are some of the most caring technicians weve ever met. Tracy and Susie are also wonderfully kind when weve been greeted by them at the front desk. Dr Byron is also a joy and really takes care to listen to what we say is going on to give the best care. We saw him for urgent care, and they got us in right away. Its such a joy to know confidently that our feathered kids have always gotten and continue to get the best care around. Take your pets here!

The first time we met Dr. Byron, he was doing intake on a gecko. We knew we had come to the right place. Sunshine our Indian ringneck parakeet was under Dr. Byrons care for the better part of 20 years. Sunshine passed of natural causes while we were on vacation & our plans were never to get another bird. Popcorn our albino cockatiel is a foundling. We operate Windy City Parrot here in Chicago so we get every call from Chicago police & Chicago fire for a found exotic bird - which is how Popcorn came into our life. From wellness checks to sprained tendons, low energy due to molting and prolific egg production (now cured - thank you) The staff at Animal House of Chicago has excelled in the care of our 120 g bundle of feathers. If you are looking for the best possible care for your bird or parrot youll find the services here uncompromising & above all - effective in controlling the complicated metabolism of your bird. mitchr caveat - as you can see from the picture her favorite foraging toy has become my beard in her favor preoccupation is to siap all the rubber bands out of it

One word summary: Professionals. Dr. Byron has been excellent at providing medical care for our fur-bearing cat and dog family members over the past 10 years. Dr. Byron patiently listens to clients concerns and knowledgeably discusses treatment options for the variety of ailments that impact pet health over the span of their life-times - young pup to senior dog and cat. This has been our experience over many year of bringing pets to Dr. Byron at Animal House: high quality care each visit. With a lifetime of pet companionship/ownership there inevitably comes the time when the heartbreaking decision has to made to end the life of a pet suffering from advanced illness or disability, and Dr. Byron and his staff offer compassionate and caring support for clients and their pets for their emotionally difficult last walk together. Dr. Byron or a staff member also always calls after treatment appointments as a matter of routine, to check on how our pet is doing and provide opportunity for clients to ask follow-up questions. Great place; never disappoints.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Recently my pet ball python began to wheeze. After some freaking out and a quick phone call I had an appointment in a couple of hours. All of the staff from the receptionist to the vet were incredibly helpful and kind. They instantly took my snake and put her under a heat lamp (it was February and less than 10 degrees outside). They explained she had a upper respiratory infection and how we could treat it. They explained everything in great detail and demonstrated how to administer injections for her. I couldnt thank them enough. I recently went back in for the checkup and again, even though it was a crazy busy Saturday with only one receptionist their attention to customer service was unbelievable. They even gave my snake a bath to help her with her current shed. They happily have earned a customer for life.

I have a 22 year old cockatiel so I am very over protective of where I take him. Our previous veterinary recently changed their staff & the new vets seemed to not care as much so when I was searching for a new avian I asked around. A friend of mine suggested animal house of Chicago & I couldn’t be happier! The staff is great and the vets I’ve dealt with are very attentive, detailed & careful. Since my cockatiel is 22 it takes a little more than just feeding him & making sure his cage is clean. They sat with me and explained how I can better care for my bird and how I shouldn’t worry about certain things. I am very happy with this place and I hope their attention to detail never fades.

This is the best vet I have ever used. I have take my rabbit here for over 3 years and have received nothing but great service. The staff is super friendly and very respectful. I have had the pleasure of using Dr. OConnor and Dr. Navarre and they are both wonderful vets. They seem to really care for your pet and actually take the time to sit with you and explain things like what is good for your pet. They really take the time to answer all your questions. You can really tell they really love what they do and honest to goodness love animals. Their prices are very reasonable and they offer boarding. I by far recommend this place :-) Thank you for taking such great care of my rabbit!

In light of the last review being so negative, I just want to balance it out with our positive review. We like and recommend Animal House of Chicago. Theyve been our vet for the past three years, ever since we got our first bird. We now have three, and we have had no complaints. We even board them at the clinic whenever we have to leave town on business or vacation. After one three-week boarding, our youngest parrot picked up a bunch of new words and phrases, including "pretty bird" and "good bird", which showed us our birds got a lot of (positive) attention from the staff! So your mileage may vary, but weve been pretty happy with how our birds have been treated.

Dont go here with a ferret! They dont know anything about it and guess everything thats symptom wise. My ferret got adrenal tumors removed here and died 2 weeks later..when she got sick had to take her to animal 911 at 12:30 at night the next day brought her back here at 8 am had to pick her up the next day because they were closing at 1 pm! The next day she died..the guy at the desk..gay guy was rude on the phone..told me to hold on and hung up on me..when I called back no answer! So I basically spent $1,200 for nothing plus animal 911 stay $200! Dont bring exotic animals here!

I have been taking my pets to Dr. de la Navarre and his associates since I moved to Chicago in 1998. At that time he was with another clinic which he left to establish his own practice after it was bought by a veterinary chain whose philosophy he did not share. For the past several years Dr. Jenny has been treating my two pets. I have always appreciated the attention, care and efficiency which the veterinarians and staff show towards the animals. I am glad to see that they have expanded their services and I feel that this has not diminished their professional judgments.
