Our German Shepard had bitten a next door neighbor, thank god, our neighbor wasnt hurt badly. Unfortunately, we were told our dog had to be impounded to the Cook County dog pound or confined for ten days in a veterinary hospital or animal control or humane shelter. We called the vet we had been going to for years in a panic right after the bite happened, they were no help and said that they would call us right back. They called back about 6 hours later and told us our dog would have to go to the pound. We were appalled that they took so long to call back and did not even try to help us. We did not want our dog to be left at the Cook County dog pound for 10 days. Our dog has severe allergies and special needs and we were told that the pound could not give our dog his medicine or his special food during the 10 days. That did not sound like a good option for our dog. That day we called at least 20 different vets, pet hospitals, kennels, and at everyone of them we got a similar reply, "we cant help you". Ironically, the very last place we called was Glen Oak Dog and Cat Hospital and spoke to Dr. Rossman. We explained what happened and asked what our options were...(the same thing we had asked at least 20 other vets) and for the very first time in 20 plus tries of asking, Dr. Rossman not only answered our questions, he gave us options on what we could do, and most importantly, he did something that no one else did that day...he offered to help us! Dr. Rossman is obviously passionate about what he does, and it shows in how he treated us that day. He saw that we were in need, and instead of just telling us to go to the pound like many were telling us, or trying to over charge us to kennel our dog, like many others were telling us, Dr. Rossman just listened and came up with a solution that worked for everyone, including our dog! Long story short, we switched both of our dogs to Glen Oak and could not be happier. Our dogs are both much healthier, and we could not be happier with Dr, Rossman and the entire staff at Glen Oak. They are all extremely knowledgeable, friendly and just good people. We cant say enough about how good Dr. Rossman and the people at Glen Oak treated us during what was a very stressful time for all of us, especially our dog. After being turned away by over 20 other vets, Dr. Rossman offered a solution, then followed through and made it all happen. He didnt know us from Adam, but he knew we needed help, so he did, and to me, thats really all you need to know about Glen Oak Dog and Cat Hospital.

I just want to take care of my dog. Its a really simple concept. You feel the same if youre reading this so I want to give you a genuine review. Ive had animals my entire life and Ive had better service in different countries in which the vet didnt even speak the same language as me. I waited longer in the waiting room than the visit actually was (which gave me ample time to watch the receptionist fuss with someone on her cellphone). The genuine advice/care for my dog compiles to about 2 minute worth and then the rest was filler. This vet told me what he presumed was wrong with my dog before looking at any previous vet records or even the dog (I was still putting her on the table). The rest of the time he talked about Puerto Rico, the people in Puerto Rico and cell phone services. This perplexed me deeply, I had to bring his tangents back to the topic of my dog several times. I was going to put 2 stars but I just looked at my dogs previous vet records to see that whoever made copies of them ripped the top-left corner off each page (some pages are ripped down the middle and some pages werent even stapled in the first place...?). I felt as though they charged enough to afford a staple remover but there is also a cost free solution: know to fold the pages back when making copies like a decent human being... Im seriously dumbfounded from the entire experience, Ive never received this level of disrespect from a vet and their staff ever. I honestly wholeheartedly regret going here and I regret not leaving at the first red flags. I wish them the best and truly hope they treat other patients better but I deserve to be treated with at least some respect and my dog deserves actual care.

I received a call from Avid (the microchip company) saying that Amanda from Glen Oak Vet Hospital scanned my dog "Bella" chip today 7.22.14 this morning at 9 am and that my dog was found! Great new right?! Wrong! When I contacted her less than 10 minutes after receiving the call she stated that she doesnt have my dog and the "teens" left with it. She states that she gave them all my information and hoped it was up to date. Wait what?! So instead of contacting me directly you gave whomever all my info, did not contact me, AND let them leave with my dog! On top of it when I asked her if she had any information to provided me she said "No!" They did not gain ANY information from the person who was in possession of my dog. No name, phone number, address, ANYTHING! How do you walk into a vet hospital and NOT gain any information about the person in front of you? SHE THEN STATED I SHOULD DO A BETTER JOB OF SECURING MY DOG! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Obviously I was emotional at that moment and told her that i needed to end this conversation. Now how do you come into possession with a dog, scan a chip, and not verify the owner?! Isnt that the point of the microchip?! Im upset with the unprofessionalism and lack of empathy. Her tone and rudeness is beyond what I would expect from a VET hospital. At this point all I can do is PRAY for the best outcome of my Bella.. Anyone with pets understand the bond and emotional relationship that is created when you are a pet parent.

We had quite a traumatic experience. Our dog was initially diagnosed with blastomycosis, a fungus that occurs with dogs. Next thing we are treating him with prescribed anti fungal medication, days afterwards there was blood coming out of his nose, mouth, and severe diarrhea. We then get a call saying that he does not have blastomycosis, so we bring him the following day back for a check up. On our first visit, the vet said there is a very small chance he had cancer. This visit, the doctor said he had chronic lmyphoma and he wouldnt stand a chance. We had none other choice but to put him down to keep him away from the agonizing pain he had. Very disappointed with their false diagnosis. I would never recommend this animal hospital nor would bring any of my future pets here.

Our rambunctious little one-year-old Mini-Pin is more like a gazelle who likes to leap over our four foot fence. Early in the summer he got away and was missing. The neighbor who found him was able to get his chip scanned. In less then an hour of the scan we were contacted that our dog was safe AT the Animal Hospital. WHAT A RELIEF! Recently after he hopped the fence again he hurt his leg. Dr. Rossman had us come to the hospital and took care of him immediately. Within 24 hours our baby was feeling better. Our dogs are like our children and are treated with the up most care and compassion. I would never trust anyone else with our babies.
