Dr. FERNANDEZ REVIEW: Not sure what to think of my experience with Dr. Fernandez. Waiting Room: As soon as I arrived it was clear that this is not your run of the mill medical center. There must have been 300+ patients on the floor waiting to see a doctor of some sort. The receptionist was polite enough, but I couldnt help but feeling like a small cog in a large assembly line...! I had some issues with my insurance card and it was immediately apparent to me that she had absolutely no time to assist, and I was going to have to solve the issue on my own. During the 45 minutes that I was in the waiting room she must have checked in like 7 or 8 different people. Well I stuck it out because I thought it may be just a sign of the quality care provided. X-ray: This took another 20 minutes after having waited 45 minutes to be checked in. The procedure itself was quick and straightforward. Physician assistant: The PA was nice and attentive of the in depth description of my symptoms. I felt she did a very thorough analysis of what was bothering me. Physician: I guess the PA set the bar high, but I felt Dr Fernandez was very quick to diagnose. He didnt even ask questions, or evaluate the PAs work himself. The diagnosis was SNAC, and the only procedure to correct it was going to be shaving a bone, or fusing the other bones together! I asked if there was something I could do to ease the strain and the look on his face and his response gave a glimpse of what happens a lot at his office. Nope no other treatment, or option. My confusion must have been evident because he then asked the PA what she thought. PA:Well I think it is a little too soon to diagnose, until I see a CT scan. For me this last interaction said a lot about my experience here. The incentive for the physician is always doing surgery, so in this assembly line, the physician pushes patients as quickly as possible to surgery without a rigorous analysis of the condition. My experience here was more than a little disconcerting. Maybe others will feel differently. ****** Update: I specifically paid to receive my x-ray results in the mail, and I am still waiting on them 5 months later. Very dissapointing.

I am truly disappointed with my experience here. I thought that with the big sports affiliations attached to Midwest Ortho at Rush, that I would receive excellent treatment. Unfortunately that has not been the case. The only positive experience I had was with Geneva in the imaging department. She went above and beyond to get my referrals approved and kept me apprised every step of the way. My other experiences have made my decision to take my medical records and find care elsewhere. *Getting transferred to the wrong department because the person didnt take the time to hear what my needs were *Having extremely long wait times for my appointments, time and time again, and no staff ever provided an update as to the delay. I was always told "youll be called (or seen) in a couple minutes, but 30 minuets would go by and nothing... *Having to call numerous times because my messages were not returned. (By the doctor, the imaging scheduling staff, etc) *Having no way to send my physician a message via the patient portal *Having to fill out digital forms time and time again. The medication history doesnt carry over, the procedure history doesnt carry over, some questions didnt apply but you were forced to answer in order to complete the form. *Being told by the physician to call for my imaging results so I wouldnt have to come in, but not getting a call back. Why did I have to be the one to call in the first place? *Being given a plan for my treatment after my brace didnt work, but then getting called after my CT and told to get a brace, which I had already done for a month and it was not effective. It was like no one knew what was going on or like there was no adequate documentation from my visit. I know that things happen and no one is perfect, but when numerous things like this happen, it makes you feel like you are not important as a patient. Its been over a month since my MRI, and months since my initial visit and CT, and I still have no answers about my thumb injury or MRI results. Ive only seen the physician twice because I was told to call for results or he was so far behind, I left.

Dr. Colman is Awesome! He is so Compassionate & a VERY SKILLED Surgeon. I had a very large Lipoma Mass that was growing out of my deltoid & shoulder area....it kept growing more each year. Ive been suffering with this for several years & Ive reconciled myself to living with the pain because I had consulted with a few other orthopedic surgeons & they said they wouldnt touch it. BUT Dr. Colman was highly recommended to me & thankfully he agreed to meet me & fit me into his busy schedule... he reviewed my chart & said that hed be able to remove it...He didnt want me to be in pain anymore. Wow, Great News. I had Hope! I felt comfortable with him & Trusted Him. Dr. Colman treated me like a person he cared about, great eye contact & patiently answered my million questions. He has amazing credentials & skill And I am so Blessed that he was successful in removing my large Lipoma ...I had minimal incision & * had little pain after & during recovery, even went home a few hours after surgery. Words cannot express how happy I am that Dr. Colman freed me from that Mass & Pain. I would HIGHLY Recommend Dr. Colman! And his Assistants are also very Professional, Kind & Patient too, especially Evan P.A. who answered all my post op concerns, always there for me! Thank you Dr. Colman :) Rosemary Stearns Grant.

Recently visited this facility due to a hip surgery gone bad. My first surgery was done by a very good Dr at NWH. He retired before I could get back for the second one. He referred me to another doctor there but he didnt do a good job. Im still in pain and the one that was doing fine is going bad because of the problems with the bad one. Went to see Dr gerlinger at Rush. I tried to explain the problem but I could see that he wasnt at all interested in finding my problem. He told me to go elsewhere and be careful about having it done again. Heres the problem, Im in pain with every step I take from this hip. Half a block, driving etc. The measurement are off. You can clearly see that Dr manning at NWH used a different size from the other one. I am very uncomfortable. Also the xray tech had no compassion when I told him it was painful for me to stand in a certain position for the xray. I didnt care for the service at RUSH.

I made a big mistake in choosing midwest ortho and, more specifically, Dr. bernard bach to handle my orthopaedic needs. I filed an official complaint against Dr. bach following a visit with him during which he verbally and physical harmed me and have yet to receive a response. Its been over a year since that complaint was filed. You would think that multiple $60k surgeries with this medical group would afford me a simple response. Guess I assumed too much. BOTTOM LINE, DONT GO TO MIDWEST ORTHO
