In early December my son complained about two small dime size spots on his arm. I took him to our dermatolgist. He was diagnosed with having ringworm. We received a rx for a topical gel. That didnt work so we asked for the cream version. On 1/9/16 I took him to the ER because these two spots had spread to both arms and looked blistery, inflamed. The intern stated it was rignworm and changed the topical cream to an oral med with instructions to follow up with our dermatologist. On 1/19 we were back at our dermatologist seen by a different Dr. By now his arms look a little better but not clearing up. This Doc prescribes oral and topical meds and states its ringworm. On 2/1/16 I took him to Dr. Arroyo for a second opinion because after being on meds for almost two months and adhering to all necessary steps required to resolve ringworm NOTHING was working. Dr. Arroyo walked in and immediately stated - He doesnt have ringworm. He has atopic dermatitis that is infected. She viewed a sample under the microscope; it wasnt ringworm - no fungus present. To confirm her diagnosis she did a small biopsy. My son was prescribed a topical and oral antibiotic and cream to help clear the skin. Within 24 hrs his arms looked 75% better and he finally had relief from the discomfort. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Arroyo - she was very personable, easy to talk to, very attentive and thorough. Dr. Arroyo is now our familys dermatologist!!

I have been going to a different dermatologist in Gurnee, IL since I was a kid, unfortunately he has retired and left the practice. After medication upon medication, I decided to try switching and attempting to see if I had a better reaction since I was recently diagnosed with an incurable skin disease (problem with sweat glands being clogged easily). I went in to see Dr. Arroyo and she was thorough, explained the problem to ensure I gained a full understanding of it, and gave me a simple treatment option that cleared it right away. After all the other creams and ointments, I was a little surprised at how responsive the treatments were with her versus my original dermatologist. I recommended her to my mom and now my family is in the process of switching over as well. Im extremely grateful for them, and thankful that I regained control over my skin condition once more!
