If you dare raise concerns about the the patients treatment at this place, you will start to notice the patients condition worsening. From unexplained hemotomas to swollen arms and legs. My grandmother developed a hemotomas on her paralyzed arm! The bruising and hardness matched the side of the bed. Please explain to me how a patient who cannot move her arm is able to hit it against the railing so hard, her arm swelled up like a rock. They use signs to communicate patient information amount each other. I understand that they have more than one patient. But part of your job should be educating yourself on your patients at the start of your shifts. Not by walking and looking to see if someone printed out a sign to update you on what "NOT" not do to a patient. They say they check in on patients every 2 hours. Which is hard to believe when my grandmother was left in a chair and her legs were not elevated and Her legs became so swollen. Yet nobody noticed until my mother arrived and ran out for a nurse. She was advised that my grandmother was put in the cardiac chair at 11am. My mother arrived around 4pm. After this incident, a sign was printed out advising the PCTs to elevate legs when in cardiac chair. You cant blaim the PCTs alone. Where was her nurse? Nurses only come in to administer medicine other wise you wont see them enter the room. If you ask them a question about the patients condition. They dont know the answer, they have to check the chart because they werent here. Its neglegence. Straight out neglegence. We had no choice because my grandmother is on a trach so we were only given two options. If she wasnt, we would have never agreed to bring her there based on reviews alone. When I walk into places like this and see the neglengence these patients go through, I wish I had chosen the medical field for my internal investigations speciality. Oh another thing, THE STAFF DOES NOT UPDATE FAMILY WHEN A PATIENTS GETS BRUISES OR NEW SKIN WOUNDS. When you notice it and ask them about it, its a shrug and a I dont know I wasnt here let me go read the charge. If they say this, go grab some coffee, your wait will be a while. There are some good people who work there but all of the horrible people out number them. Update. A little over a month has passed and nothing has been done for the giant lump on her arm. Nurses claim a surgeon checked on her arm several times and when asked what the surgeon has decided to do, their answer is "I dont know". Apparently, the nurses job is just to administer medication and not actually check on the health of the patient. You need to make sure someone is there at all times with your loved ones. The PCTs put my grandmother in the cardio chair and didnt make sure her trach was okay. Her airway was blocked and couldnt breathe. My mother got there just in time. The staff doesnt communicate with each other. Respiratory likes to sit and play on their phones. You will see this very often when you walk around the floor. Again. You have I would say 2 good people out of 10. But do not leave your loved ones there unattended.

I would give this zero stars if the site would allow it. I cannot begin to explain the deplorable conditions of your facilities and the complete negligence of the staff. The coordinator who spoke with me promised me private rooms, mental health care, understanding nature, pain management. I was outright lied to. Upon arrival when I brought these issues up to the staff, I was mocked, mimicked, and actively ignored. The patient was left to sit in excrement for hours, denied baths, and had urine spilled all over the floor several times with zero intention of cleaning it up until I asked. When I finally asked for a towel to give the patient a bath myself, I was given filthy towels and linens. The room had exposed wire and cracked paint. The patient (who could not speak) waited upwards of 30 minutes for the call light to be answered and went without medications several times. At times, they would call into the patients room asking what the patient wanted, knowing the patient couldnt speak. The negligence of the patients feeding tube caused a back up and subsequently a leak. Staff continued to force feed the patient against the patients wishes. Syringes were left in the patients bed and razors from the blood sugar tests were left on the floor. The patients health continued to decline and he was threatened that if he didnt "try harder", hed be kicked out. Additionally, several nurses bragged about their meals to the patient, who could not eat. How cruel. The final moments of the patients life-our final moments together-were interrupted by infectious disease who wanted to check if there was a fever, two nurses who were in the wrong room, and someone who was "looking for physical therapy". His blood sugar was taken while on comfort care for no reason at all. After the patient had passed, we were refused help with contacting and coordinating with the funeral home and had to do it ourselves. Confidentiality was breached several times and requests to see doctors were outright denied. I will make it my lifes mission to ensure that no one has to go through what we went through at your Hinsdale facility.

I have a hard time believing these negative reviews. My expereince at RML was nothing like what these people have written. The staff and the doctors were excellent! They communicated with me regularly on how my mom was doing. The staff were always friendly, they answered our questions. When we did have concerns there were several people we could talk to. They have a Patient Ambassador who visits with all the patients to be sure there are no problems. They listened to my concerns and she worked with the staff and unit manager to resolve my concern. I NEVER felt my mom or the family were treated any diffierently afterwards. They encouraged us to share our concerns so they could make my mom’s experience the best it could be. We were very stressed about the unknown about my mom’s health, the people at RML helped us better understand what was happening. My mom is now at home from RML and is doing better then we thought she would be. I will always to thankful for the people at RML

Upon admission staff failed to check blood glucose and patient had blood sugar of 29! Patient developed IV infiltration, had a mini stroke, developed pneumonia twice, pulmonary edema twice, unable to wean from ventilator, developed necrotic heels and wounds to bottom and went into respiratory distress numerous of times. Patients stomach stopped digesting food and the staff failed to check residuals and was being over fed making IBS worse! Gtube was left opened leaking medications and stomach contents! The staff were uneducated for rapid response protocols. Patient confidentiality not respected. Facility more concerned about infection control as they get bonuses for less reports. Nurses rotate to much! Patient was discharged to rehabilitation and was sent to the hospital a day later for Pneumonia and pulmonary edema. Patient did not benefit from this facility whatsoever!

Compare ALL OTHER OPTIONS before choosing RML! RMLs mission statement; "our mission is to provide quality, compassionate care to patients with prolonged, severe medical illnesses from our referring community" ....... I am here to say that so far, from the 3 times Ive visited my sister in the last 3 days that shes been here, Ive ONLY witnessed anything remotely close to compassionate care by ONE NURSE! ...... if a patient needs the nurse, even if it IS every 20-30 minutes, and they push the nurses light for help, first of all, how long SHOULD it take for the nurse to get into the room? And secondly, is it ever appropriate for a nurse to suggest putting in a Foley catheter because the patient is "going" too often? ...... I dont know, to me it seems like the nurses at RML need a little training in compassion........ Very disappointing
