I adopted a kitten from the Orphans of the Storm animal shelter, and this was one of the vets they recommended. During the first week, I noticed that Alyssa (my kitten) was acting strangely. Now, Ive never had a cat before, but I felt like something was up. I talked to two of my friends that have cats, along with the animal shelter that I got her from, but they said there was nothing wrong. I wasnt convinced, so I called the AMC. Whether they took pity on me (you could probably hear my anxiety over the phone), or whether they genuinely believed there might be a problem, they told me that I could come in. It turns out that I was correct. I saw Dr. Brumfield, who told me that she had a respiratory infection (which we caught early because Im such a worrywart). Not only did he prescribe some medicine, but he also answered some unrelated questions I had about cat care. Long story short, the meds worked wonders! Ive gone back several times (vaccines and a follow-up) and I have been REALLY impressed. Ive seen other vets as well as Dr. Brumfield, but he was the one who I saw first, when Alyssa was sick, so he especially stands out. I wasnt sure what to expect from a vet, but Im REALLY happy with the AMC. Brief wrap-up: Pros: ~ very helpful (not only in the office, but also over the phone) ~ understanding and compassionate (answering questions, teaching me things such as how to clip her claws, treating her like the goddess she thinks she is, and even more!) ~ knowledgeable (like above, they answer questions in such a complete way that even someone who gets confused easily like me can understand, knows what theyre doing in general) ~ clean environment (no problems to complain about -- and Im really nitpicky about that!) ~ REALLY friendly! (One of the receptionists knows Alyssa and me by name, even though weve only been there a few times. She shows genuine interest and care for us both. Im *pretty* sure shes Melissa S., but Im horrible with names.) Cons: ~ I only wish they were open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! All in all, I would recommend the AMC to EVERYONE who has a pet, even if theyre not the closest vet. (Its a 25 - 30 minute drive for me, but I would rather have to wait in a car for longer, than go to a closer vet who wouldnt take good care of my baby.)

This is the note that I sent recently to the team at Animal Medical Center. I was so moved by the experience that I wanted to share online as well as others look to making care decisions for their pets. Dear Animal Medical Center Team, Thank you for all the wonderful care you provided to our cats over the last two years. Two of which you prepared us to say goodbye to and we felt that you genuinely shared in our tears. Thank you also for believing that our tiny kitten, Lola who was found at the age of 6 weeks, weighing two pounds and a lot of health problems was worth the fight. Thanks to your care, she is celebrating her 1st birthday this month and is every bit the feisty personality that we saw when she fought through some unhealthy months. We recently moved to a different city, but we will never forget your compassion.

We took our young cat (2 years old) here because he suddenly lost a great amount of weight and had horrible breath. After a long wait for our appointment, we were taken into a small room where he was given a VERY quick exam. The vet said it was a tooth infection, gave me antibiotics, recommended a several hundred dollar teeth cleaning procedure and sent me on my way. It seemed to work, at first. A few months later, my cat (again) lost a lot of weight very suddenly. We took him to the Chicago Cat Clinic, where he was diagnosed as being in the final stages of renal failure. If the vet at Animal Medical Center would have taken his time and done a thorough exam, this would have been caught and could have saved our cats life. BEWARE OF THIS CLINIC!

Over the past twenty years we have taken nine different pets (kids") to Animal Medical Center, and we have seen every vet that has been a part of Animal Medical Center over that time. We have never met with anything but compassion and competence. We have moved many miles away however we still continue to bring our animals to Dr. Miz and his associates. The doctors orthopedic and other surgical skills are unparalleled, as is the follow-up care. If I was asked by a friend about Animal Medical Center, I would say that I would never take any of my pets anywhere else.

Top notch animal hospital! My puppy, Coby, had become extremely ill. I took him to one animal hospital but they seemed unsure what the issue was. The next day, we took him to the Animal Medical Center and they were able to identify the issue promptly and performed surgery that saved his life...and the price of the surgery was about half the price quoted by the other vet in the area. Everyone was compassionate, patient and explained everything in detail. They will be my one stop shop for the vet needs of both of my dogs.

I have taken my 11 year old Lab mix to AMC for almost the entire time Ive had him and the care weve received has been FANTASTIC and NOT just from Dr. Miz although he certainly is great. EVERYONE has been kind, considerate and great to deal with. Dr. Butynko is my "main" vet and ALL the staff (Mike the tech, the administrative staff) are concerned and caring. I too cant imagine anyone giving AMC a bad review - ironic that the person who wrote the terrible review ended up at Riser! I LEFT Riser and would never go back."

I was looking for a local vet when my cat came down with an oral issue. It ended up being cancer, and the staff have been so kind and helpful through out the entire ordeal. Im so grateful for how wonderful they have been. Ive been able to call with any questions and the Doctors have taken the time to answer with patience. When we had to Euthanize our family friend the staff were kind and sympathetic. Well continue to our remaining pets there and I would recommend them to anyone.

I brought my Burmese Python there when she was 12 feet long when she had mouth rot and they are one of few places around here that deal with big snakes and they did an excellent job with 5 people holding her down to give her the injections and the sab on her mouth. I never herd so much hissing in my life lol. I dont remember the name of the doctor though it was 5 years ago.

I wish I could add a review about the service here but I couldnt get past the receptionist. I was on hold for 15 minutes when trying to make an appointment only to come back and have them ask me to hold again after waiting 15 minutes. I dont know if this is any indication of their services, but I will have to look elsewhere.

AMC has cared for my Alaskan Klee Kai since I first brought her home. The staff is caring and courteous; Dr. Miz is terrific. After she broke her leg, AMC has provided excellent care and she is doing great. As an experienced dog owner, I would not hesitate to recommend AMC to anyone seeking a vet.
