Our family dog that we love very much was just diagnosed with Addisons a chronic disorder. We were devastated but soon learned that it was very treatable but costly. We wanted to look at different Vets so that we could afford the treatment to make our pup healthy. I found Mahan hospital just 2 minutes away from my home and I went there. The building was old, rundown and no one was there (it was 11:25 am on a Monday). I decided not to judge a book by its cover and give this clinic the benefit of a doubt. I called later that day and spoke with Dr. Mahan. I asked him about treatment costs and visit costs, I was relieved to hear that it was within my budget. Then to my surprise the doctor said he did not want to conduct business with people like me. He said he did not want people so concerned with money coming to his practice and that we would just be a pain to deal with. I absolutely cannot believe the tone he took with me, he was not only rude but hurtful. We love our dog very much and are just trying to make sure we can provide the treatment she needs. I highly suggest no one brings their business to such a inconsiderate and disrespectful man.

My family has gone to Dr. Mahan for 4 cats (maybe birds too, for all I know) for 15-20 years now and ironically Ive only had occasion to visit him myself in the past few. Well, hes spectacular, kind, efficient. Hes taken care of my little friends UTIs and diagnosed her thyroid problem. Really helped her. Ive been thrilled to pay him and hes always reasonable. Pound for service, doesnt get better. I like his old school, pragmatic feel. Mahan is the man.

He has been taking care of my families and my pets for 40 years and this man is a sweet man who cares very much and knows what he is doing. If anyone has complaints it could only be with themselves because he is fair sweet smart honest and respectable. I love him and cried to find him practicing when I moved back to my hometown of highland park at 40.
