I am very, very, very picky about my vets. Ive been with Dr. Norrell ever since she ran the small animal clinic at the U of I Vet School. She is phenomenal. Shes very good at explaining things (she doesnt dumb it down) and... and I know this makes her sound woo which she unambiguously is not... she is very "intuitive." She figures things out by touch or basic listening/attending--later confirmed with instruments--like murmurs, temperatures, swollen glands, etc. Shes very gentle and caring and--and this is critical--makes sure that everyone she hires is as gentle and caring and she is. Seriously, I couldnt be happier with her, and Ive been bringing my (many) cats to her for years now. Prices strike me as perfectly fair, but I admit I dont have a strong sense of what are good prices around here. (Im from Chicago so everything seems pretty cheap here.)

We brought our new shelter dog there for her first check up. The clinic was fine, the main vet was a little brusque but the assistant was nice. Four weeks later, we go back for a booster for the shot our dog got at the first visit. My boyfriend takes the dog back to the car and Im waiting to pay. Come to find out they gave her the wrong booster, and I had to bring my nervous, jumpy, shelter dog back in to get another shot for no reason. The vet was very unapologetic, and brushed of my concerns about my dog getting a booster for a shot she never got in the first place. Acted like this kind of thing happens all the time. We will not be returning.

I brought in my dog when he broke his foot. They x-ray it, tell us its a small break that should take 6 weeks to heal, and gave him a cast and some pain meds. After the 4th week he was off meds and jumping around with his usual energy. We take him in after the 6th week and they tell us he barely healed and that its going to take another 6 weeks. Take him home, and hes limping and crying like he was day 1. No idea what they did to him because they took him away instead of examining with us in the room like they did the first time. Seems super sketchy to me.

We take our dog here (Maurice, 80 lb lab) and will bring our indoor cat here if/when she ever has any issues. The staff here is so friendly, and Dr. Norrell is AWESOME. Through Maurices last bout of stomach issues, they were so caring and gentle with him and treated us all very well. They always follow up call a few days after to make sure hes doing alright. Highly suggest this place!!! Prices seemed very reasonable compared to what I could find online, too. Take your pets here!

Been family vet service at this location for several years....change of ownership a few times....atmosphere on the greeting clients, is on the cool side/examing my personal pet done out of sight; previous Dr. Vets, interviewed me, with my dog, in the exam, conducted my dogs exam in front of me.....all shots, other care were done out of my sight, while leaving me in the exam room...rate it mediocre...

I first met Dr. Norrell when she was at the Illinois vet med teaching hospital, before she took over Good Friends. Shes great with cats and just an excellent vet all around--I really trust her and the whole team. Ill be bringing my cats here as long as I live in Champaign.

We were seen for an emergency eye problem. They fit us into the schedule quickly when our vet was unable. The entire staff was very caring and put our dog at ease. If I needed a vet in Urbana I would not hesitate to bring my pet here.
