I have been going to A and E Animal Hospital since 2012. I have visited a few other veterinarians in town, but I have to say that I am happy I stuck with A and E Animal Hospital! I specifically see Dr. Amy McGuffin because she knows all there is to know about cats. I have a senior cat, and everything my cat throws at Dr. McGuffin she has an answer and solution for. This ranges from cat litter box issues, thyroid disease, kidney disease, heart disease, teeth issues, and medications. I also have a dog, and she is absolutely amazing with him! The staff are extremely friendly and willing to help. I am always full of questions about medications, behavior problems, and prices but I never feel like I am bothering them. One thing I love about A and E is that they remember me and my pets, even when I drop in for random medicine pick up! I can’t say enough great things about A and E. I wish that all practices were as honest and empathetic as A and E.

Only go to this vet if you would like your cat to suffer its entire life. We brought our cat here and they recommended declawing without going over the complications or anything the AVMA says vets are supposed to do before ultimately doing a declaw as a last resort. Our cat, who was once a sweet and loving animal, has become extremely aggressive due to the constant pain shes in as a result of the declaw. Scientific studies, including those published by the AVMA, DO show a large majority of cats suffer from this operation and express their pain through innapropriate elimination or aggression, unfortunately ours has become part of this majority. Shame on A & E for carrying out this procedure. Our cat now has to live her life in agonizing pain as a result of having a very sensitive part of her anatomy amputated.

The facility is clean and the staff are nice, but they arent very prevention focused. Twice now theyve not warned me about getting a preventative dental cleaning, but instead waited until my cats teeth were bad enough to have to pull several teeth. Once they even told me to wait 3 months before getting a cleaning. When I did come in after 3 months, they ended up pulling 4-5 teeth. Why have my cat wait that long if her teeth were that bad!? They also will not call you before pulling teeth, and I found the reasoning for the last 4-5 teeth my cat had pulled questionable. My cat has hardly any teeth left, and Im afraid if I stick with A & E, they will all be gone. Going somewhere else that actually cares about prevention.

Cheap, good. And if you have a young healthy pup, then they will do just fine with what you need. I had an older dog who started to not act right and I kept getting told she was just getting old. Turns out she had cancer. I didnt expect them to find what was wrong at the time, who knows when the cancer became a large enough issue, and I wouldnt have treated it with her age, but couldve treated the problems it was causing. I did that after I chose a new vet, and was very disappointed that I wasnt taken seriously. If you think there is something wrong with your pet, figure it out, dont blow it off because they arent always going to tell you till its too late.

Absolutely amazing staff. My cat had a urinary obstruction so my husband and I rushed him to the emergency clinic in Champaign so they could at least unblock him. The next day we called to make an appointment and they got us right in. I was very pleased with Dr. Stanko. I expressed the financial limits we had (because the emergency visit was pretty costly but extremely necessary). She gave us a quote on what would be the best trajectory to get my little pumpkin back on track and she even calls to check up on him. The office is a little farther away but Id gladly make the trip. They were very professional and super friendly.

I have been taking my two dogs here for a couple of years now, and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE Dr. Amy McGuffin! One of the best veterinarians Ive ever had!! She is so gentle, kind, and cares so much about your pets! The whole staff is amazing, as well! The only reason I gave them 3 stars, is that their prices have increased so much over the past year, that I just cant afford to go there anymore. It breaks my heart because they are so wonderful. If they could just lower their prices (even just a little), I would be back in a heartbeat!

Really great vet office. My fiance is a vet student and advised me to go here while she was out of town. They were friendly and wonderful the whole way through. They made recommendations which acknowledged the financial limitations I might have and made it clear what the best level of care I could give my pup was. I will definitely return if I need further help with him!

We have been going to Drs. Brummet and Juhl since they first took over the A&E practice. They have consistently provided excellent care for our dogs over the years in a professional, helpful and compassionate manner. We wont take our precious dogs anywhere else! Tony and Gabrielle

The new facilities are great, but the service is even better. They have been available twice for same-day appointments for routine things like shots and animal inspections. Every time we are in and out quickly, cleanly, and cheaply.
