Most of my life, my parents and I have taken our pets to Westview, but after the changes a few years ago I will not be taking my cat there anymore. I always had a feeling that some of the techs at the front desk did not care and did not really want to be there. One tech in particular has always been rude and condescending. She yelled at me for being 3 minutes late once. After a particular vet left 4 or 5 years ago (I believe it was) things went downhill. The vet that had already been there with the vet who moved just simply spoke to me as if I were stupid (Im noticing that as a trend in other reviews). The new vet that came in just wanted to talk and acted as if she knew everything. I understand she is the person with the veterinary degree, but she would seem to act as if she knew my cats better than I. All of the previous statements would warrant a 2 or 3 star review. Their care was still pretty good. Here is why I am giving them 1 star: My cat died because of their negligence. He was very sick and they did not want to do a damn thing. I hate to seem ignorant, but I truly believe this is what happened. He was breathing VERY heavily all the time. We took him in 3 separate times in maybe 2 months because he wasnt getting any better with the medication they gave him. 2 of the 3 times (one visit with one vet, the other visit with the other vet), they said he was not breathing that strangely and said to me after I asked about it possibly being his heart, they both said that was not a cause... without even putting the stethoscope to his lungs or heart. Another problem he had was a rash he got every summer from having FIV. They kept giving him the same medication that was not working and simply asked if I wanted another bottle on the same visit that no stethoscope was used. I gave up. I took him to a different vet in Muncie a few weeks later. The stress of a new and unfamiliar place was making his breathing very dramatic. Once the vet (a WONDERFUL man by the way) came in, all hell broke loose. His lungs had that fluid sound in them, and he began digging at his mouth because he could not breathe. He was bleeding, drooling, and coughing up liquid everywhere. His tongue turned purple. The vet decided to give him a sedative. This way, we could see if he may just needed to calm down and get things back to normal. If not, he and I (as much as I could be at this point after crying the whole time) would be prepared to be put down. He was too far gone and the sedative killed him in less than a minute. The vet said he most likely went into cardiac arrest. He had a LOT of fluid on his lungs that should have been taken care of MONTHS ago. His heart was already experiencing a lot of stress and the rate at which it increased from being in a new place with a strange vet sent him over the edge. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever go back to Westview.

My kitty accidentally fractured her one of her pelvic limbs caused her to have bandage for maximum 5 weeks according to Indianapolis Vet emergency. Since I go to school at Muncie, so I transferred over to here. Westview animal clinic services started great, but then everything just went down the slope. I asked for smaller bandage for her for almost a month but they never did and because of that, my kitty couldnt function right which I have told them over and over again. After my kittys x ray, I came to pick up my kitty and the result, the front desk ladies didnt even say anything about the results until I asked. When I asked the questions, she was like I dont know let me go ask the doctors! She came said my kitty has to be on other 6 weeks of bandage when she was on her 8th week of bandage already. At the end, they still didnt tell me how was my kitty. I just want the best for my kitty and I feel like they are lack of enthusiasm and responsibility. Maybe even lack of knowledge for a fractured kitty. Also, my kitty was discovered a ring worm inside of her, they asked me to give her a half of pill and I did, but they didnt recheck my kitty to be sure she is all healthy. Again, they said while you kitty is on her bandage, she cant have vaccine. Maybe two or three weeks later, oh we are giving her vaccine, I hope you are okay with it! Sure go ahead, as long as my kitty is healthy then I am okay. She is my first kitty, and I am not familiar with all the processes and everything, so I just went along with them. Until one day, my roommates dad, he is vet doctor, he said thats ridiculous, a kittys minor fracture heals much quicker than older ones and she shouldnt be on it anymore. I feel very disappointed and a slight of " I shouldnt trust that clinic anymore".

I cant describe how disappointed I was with the Westview Animal Hospital. First, the vet they recommended to me was simply crazy. Theres no other word to describe her. She talked like she was on cocaine or meth. I could barely understand her for how fast she spoke and all the tangents she went on. I didnt know if she was talking about my cat or her dog or something else entirely. I also didnt like how she handled my cat at all. He was upset in the carrier and she would not let me just pick him up out of it (it has a door on the front and the top). She insisted she open the front door of the carrier and try to pour him out of it! That only made him more upset and I was really afraid he was going to get hurt because he was trying to stay in the carrier. She also tried to take a urine sample from him with a syringe while he was awake, which completely freaked him out, and then she didnt even get the sample anyway. He was at their office all day and when I got him to take him home, he was covered in feces and dried urine. I dont know what conditions they stored him under but they must have been disgusting. Then, two days later, it turned out that he had gotten ear mites while there. He had been nowhere else (hes an indoor cat) but the vet, has no contact with other animals besides his brother, who didnt get ear mites at the same time. I KNOW he got them from Westview and when I tried to talk to them about it they were completely unhelpful and denied any possibility that he could have gotten ear mites from the [disgusting] conditions in their office. I am so sad that I wasted money on this vet "care" and put my cat through all that for nothing, and for him to only end up worse than when I took him in.

99% of the time the revolving door of techs that seem to come and go here have a serious attitude problem, and are very condescending to the pet owner. If a pet owner comes in, and politely explains the pet is a senior over 10, isnt used to being away from me at all, you dont just start claiming youre a vet tech and an expert on vet laws, then try to throw a choker rope around his neck and start dragging him against his weight to the "back room", especially when the animal already has a harness on. Absolutely no reason the pet owner shouldnt be allowed in the room, I wasnt asking to perform any procedures, or use their equipment, but when my senior pet is not used to being handled by other people, I need to be in the room for his safety and comfort level. Ive been to numerous vets in this county over 3 decades, and I have never encountered the pathetic amount of female attitude, unprofessionalism, and snarky talk towards the people who are paying their bills with the exorbitant cost. Simple nail trim? Pet owner cant even be in the room along with them, and $17 ??? Oh, and dont let me forget the time they decided to trim my pets nails without even asking, nor was it requested. This is hands down, the second worst veterinary practice I have ever taken a pet to in my life, and I am now looking for a new vet with a little more professionalism, manners, and compassion for the pet owners.
