My parents used to take our animals here but it got to be too far of a drive, so they have been looking for another vet to match their competence, with NO luck. The vets here and friendly and really know their stuff. My first encounter of my own with this vet is that I called all over town for hours asking if they would euthanize a rat with cancer that was suffering. Everyone said "no" (I even got a an "Wait, a rodent!?" and a "just break its neck!" from other local vets, obviously not understanding that this rat was an unconventional pet but loved by our family as much as a dog or cat) except Gulf Coast Animal Hospital. Once we told then what was wrong they said it was a mammary tumor and that albino rats and very prone to them and that they could put her to sleep humanely. She looked horrid when I brought her in, her skin was oozing and she was covered in mucus and blood. I could barely say anything other than cry and they were so loving. They held her close like she was a sick child and when they brought her back they had cleaned her up, curled her into a sleeping position and had her wrapped in a blanket. Not only were they not "grossed out" but they treated her as they would a dog and only charged 50$ (instead of 140$ that another vet quoted), which was worth it to not let her suffer anymore. It takes a true animal lover to act so kindly to a rat. I also took my puppy there for his shots and they gave him treats and played with him. Even though he got shots, I can tell he will be happy to go back. He didnt flinch or whine and he was so relaxed on the way home, you can tell they didnt even upset him. I dont mention "the vet" anymore. I call them "your friends" to my dog. "vet" is such a... nasty term! haha.

The only saving grace of this poor place are the secretarys and helping nurses. Doctor Scott has some of the lowest character and integrity around. We brought our very loving and docile Pitt in with symptoms of lethargy, fever, stiffness--overall very sick. Dr. Scott was so nervous he insisted on a muzzle. I acquiesced to the request as he didnt know us and Tucker and I understood where he was coming from. Tucker did famously in the muzzle and Dr. Scott even took it off him and continued his last portion of the work up without it. We talked over a treatment plan and knew that there might be other underlying issues but decided to go with a less aggressive plan. Up to this point I was satisfied with the services we received. Tucker quickly started declining, his fever shot through the roof, couldnt even stand up let alone eat. I called Gulf coast immediately that morning and made an appointment for 10:15 am. I received a call back from one of the Nurses stating that Scott Refused to see us anymore and would not be taking care of our pup. I was outraged that the diagnosing Doctor wouldnt even take the time to see him in a moment of emergency. We had to go to another Vet to start all over again in a worse condition. I called that entire day asking for Doctor Scott to at least explain himself. I was assured he would give me a call. It is now 3 days later and I have yet to receive any call. This is why I state poor character and integrity. It is their right to choose whom they serve. But an explanation takes 5 minutes. Cowardliness is not a characteristic you need in a vet. Be weary of this place.

I do not have enough superlatives to describe the wonderful care of Gulf Coast Animal Hospital and Dr. Kristen Faggert. The short story is my boxer was not feeling well the day after my wife and I had left for vacation. He was brought to Gulf Coast animal hospital and was placed in the caring hands of Dr. Faggert (She refers to herself as Dr. Kristen). Dr. Kristen, called and immediately updated us on her overall impressions and what she felt was best to do. Through a combination of keen acumen, laboratory tests and imaging she was concerned about possible mass of his internal organ and recommended surgical operation. She was ever so right! It turns out Cooper had been carrying a 3.5lb cancer on his spleen and this likely explained all his symptoms. Dr. Kristen expertly removed this and Cooper was back licking faces later that day. Obviously my wife and I were relieved. Whats more is Dr. Kristen kept us informed the entire time with daily updates (incredible considering we were out of town) and even offered to take Cooper home with her to watch him. Dr. Kristen had no idea (and found out later) that my wife and I are in the medical field, so we have a deep respect for and notice exceptional care. This was beyond exceptional and Dr. Kristen was not giving us special attention; this is clearly the way she treats all of her patients. We are so lucky to have Dr. Kristen and the caring staff of Gulf Coast animal hospital. They undoubtedly saved Coopers life.

I cant tell you how impressed we are with the doctors and staff here. We have 5 dogs, so there is always an issue with one of them, but mainly our Great Dane, Bella. She has had a problem with her foot for a few months now and Dr. Kristen has been amazing. Dr. Kristen even went as far as giving us her personal number so that we could call her, even though she was out of town if we had any questions about Bellas foot, also Julie met us at the office everyday over the weekend so she could clean and dress it after her surgery. The girls are wonderful too, they really make your pet feel special and always have a calming voice to ease their nervousness. Dana always has a cheery voice when she answers the phone and a smile when you come in the door. We would not trust our fur kids with anyone else!

Dr. Kristen Faggert, Dr. Smith, and the entire staff are knowledgeable, personable, and it is evident they care immensely about the animals that come into the hospital. Everyone is friendly and proactive in the care of their patients and it is evident from the second you walk in, your pet will receive the best care possible. Dr. Kristen goes above and beyond to ensure the best outcome for your animal. And, seeing the staffs passion for animals, you know your pets will be just as loved in their care as they are with you. I wouldnt go anywhere else in town!

Dr Kristen and her staff far surpassed my expectation of the care they gave my cat. Where another vet downplayed Ellies condition Dr Kristen was concerned. She worked Ellie in for surgery the very next day. I dont think she was even out of the operating room before they called to tell me the surgery went well. She was very knowledgeable and thorough with her explanation of everything and answered all my questions. Cant recommend her highly enough!!!!!!
