Dr. Vada and the rest of the staff at McAfee are AMAZING. My boyfriend and I were having trouble with our four month old puppy. She was very sick and the vet we had been taking her to shrugged off our concerns and prescribed the same "treatment" each time we took her in. After a month of the same symptoms and three separate trips to the vet, we decided that a second opinion was needed. Not only was Dr Vada attentive and listened to all of our concerns, but so was the vet technician. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They eased our mind and offered different solutions to our problem. Thankfully, our puppys immune system fought off her bacteria problem and she is happy and healthy! I am so pleased with our decision to try out McAfee. They will be the animal hospital we choose to fix our puppy, and we will also be switching our three year old mix over to their care as well. Professional. Efficient. Tentative. Highly, highly recommend.

First off, I waited at least half an hour after my appointment time. Now for a normal doctor, its just me waiting. For her, my cat is stuck in its carrier for MUCH longer than she should be. Its unfair to her to be forced to sit through that. Second, its supposed to be a free visit for post adoption within two weeks of the adoption. So they tell you they have to do several things during this visit. Then they send you a bill, without actually mentioning that you will have to pay for it. They want extra unnecessary vaccinations for your pet (even though the shelter said that they are up to date.) Its a scam to drain every penny out of you. NEVER again will I step foot in here.

Im not sure why some of these reviews are horrible. McAfee Animal Hospital is AWESOME!! I have been taking my dogs there for 9 years, not a single complaint. They have never tried to get me to purchase extra things or do unnecessary procedures, in fact when my Giant Schnauzer had ACL repair 8 yrs ago it failed and Dr. Steve re did it at no cost to me. They are very passionate about animals. You get what you pay for, so if you want an in and out vet go to a Quack that wont take the time to listen to you or pay attention to your animal.I recommend McAfee to everyone!

If you want the absolute best care for your pet this is the place to go. The vets are wonderful, caring, and knowledgeable. Dr. Steve is awesome when it comes to tough surgeries. The ladies at the front desk are efficient, sweet and understanding. I dearly miss the great Dr. Larry McAfee who recently retired and especially want to thank him for the kindness and caring he has shown to both me and my mom during the loss of our beloved dogs. He cried along with us. There were other countless times he was there for us, too. I send you a hug Dr. Larry.

I have had absolutely no problems here. My pets have been seeing the doctors here for 5 years. Theyre kind and compassionate and Ive never waited longer than 20 minutes. My human doctor makes me wait twice as long as that! I definitely recommend McAfee Animal Hospital to everyone, I love it there. Im always greeted with a smile and the technicians love my pets. My dogs love coming to the vet, and I think that says a lot about McAfees. Its pretty important to me that my dogs are comfortable and actually look forward to seeing the doctor.

Amazing. I got my first dog, Sage, in January of 2015. She was just 8wks old. Being a first-time pet owner, I was a little anxious. Dr. Danny was the first vet I met, and she was amazing. She treated Sage so kindly. The technicians loved Sage and were always prompt and courteous for all of my appointments. I met another vet, but I cant remember the gals name. Dr. Danny responded to emails when I was changing Sages diet as she grew, and she helped remedy Sages motion sickness via email as well. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this clinic.

Horrible...DO NOT GO HERE!! I went to Dr. McAfee for over five years and I repeatedly asked about my dogs teeth issues and he repeatedly told me it was fine, dont worry about it. Today, after two other dental opinions, my dog had over 12 teeth and jaw bone removed before of advanced stage periodontal disease that Dr. McAfee should have caught years ago especially since I brought it to his attention. My dogs jaw may not function anymore and I will be filing charges against this animal hospital with the state board IMMEDIATELY!

I have been going to McAfee Animal Hospital for over 16 years now, I drive 23 miles and about 45 minutes. I drive this because I went thru every vet in the Schererville area and found all lacking. Dr. Steve is the best of the best. He has always been there for me and my pets. Has never pushed me into doing something I didnt want too. I would and have recommended him to everyone that wants the best for their pet. 5 stars are not enough they are a 10 in my book

I have taken my dog there twice. Both times I had an appointment. Both times I sat and waited and waited and waited. Today I waited for an hour beyond my appointment time. The vet didnt show up until I was walking out the door in disgust. The worst part of this was my dog and I were the only customers there when we arrived. Im finding a different vet. One that respects my time. Dont go here unless you have plenty of time to waste.

Dr. Steve is the most amazing, compassionate Veterinarian we have encountered, I would only trust my "children" to him. He cares for all our animals and treats them as if they were his own. He went above and beyond when we had to transfer our dog to Chicago for life saving efforts, He checked on her and us, continuously. Truly truly the definition of an OUTSTANDING VETERINARIAN!!! and a wonderful man.

The staff at McAfee have been both compassionate and professional in treating my Goldens, Romeo & Juliet. Compassionate when Juliet left us about a month ago. Professional and thorough when treating Romeo. Their service and treatment of both the patient and the owner has been exceptional. Sharon and I would definitely recommend their services for your loved pets.

They did everything they could to help my baby... And did everything they could to keep him comfortable. The vet was very sympathetic and did her best to comfort me when I had to make that painful decision. A week later, they sent me a card to express their condolences. Great people! They care a lot about your pets.

I have been going here for 15 years! They are amazing. They caught somwthing in my cat that the 4 vets in my town didnt catch. They care and take their time with u. Sometimes emergencies happen, and appts take longer. But wouldnt you rather have them take a few extra minutes with you rather than push you out the door
