I started seeing Dr. Cowan maybe 2 years ago. I loved his courtesy, how he explained things, and his staff. He did a Mohs procedure on me, everything went well with my care, my appointments, etc. I was so pleased that when my son needed to see a dermatologist, I raved over how my experience was. We saw Dr. Cowan for my sons symptoms, my son loved him as well. Unfortunately, the only recommendation Dr. Cowan had for my son was to prescribe a medication that has to be monitored with monthly bloodwork, that was not normally used for the symptoms my son has. Dr. Cowan has had success with it in similar cases so we were up for the challenge. I didnt realize that my insurance required prior approval of the med which meant the Dr. had to contact insurance either by phone, email or letter. My son saw Dr. Cowan in February 2016, got his initial bloodwork done approximately 3-4 weeks later and they phoned in the Rx. I kept contacting their office over and over and the insurance to see if a prior approval recommendation had been done as my insurance said they had received nothing. It is now June 17, 2016 and still no follow-up call from Dr. Cowans office as I requested and we have grown frustrated. I even went by the office to request to speak with someone and all I got was the receptionist told me that she had posted in the system each time I have phoned and that she would have Tiffany give me a call back. Tiffany told me originally that it would probably take him about a week to get the prior approval done. Sorry to say, I am sadly disappointed and feel as if our care no longer matters. I waited and contemplated over writing this review but if his office sees it and it helps just one person get better care and follow-up, then it is worth it. I dont like to be a critic, but common courtesy of a phone call doesnt take 5 minutes. If the insurance doesnt approve it, we can accept that but no communication from his office to discuss what an alternative step could be makes a patient feel as if they didnt matter in the first place. I really wished I could give Dr. Cowan and his office 5 stars.

I arrived early to fill out paperwork since it was my first visit. Several people were asleep in the waiting room---45 minutes past my appointment time I found out why. According to the receptionist, appointments are scheduled with a "ONE HOUR WAIT TIME". Ironic, since one of the forms I had to sign said if patients are late for their appointments they will be billed predetermined amounts! Nearly 55 minutes past my appointment time, I was finally taken to an exam room. After another wait,Dr Cowan arrived, did the exam & removed an inflamed mole. I was told I would be called & told the results of the tests done on it in 3-4 days.TWO WEEKS LATER I still had not been called with the test results & only received the information when I CALLED THEM! The doctor is nice, seems professional. His office is,in my opinion, very poorly ran & disorganized.

I will never return to Dr Cowan. He was unprofessional, dismissive, insulting, and anything but thorough. He is a doctor for Gods sake, a skin doctor at that and when part of my breast was exposed he acted like a child. He would barely even look at the mole in question because of its location and his "modesty policy." Then after asking "what do you want to be when you grow up?" (I am 24 years old and didnt appreciate being talked to like a child) I told him I was in nursing school and was about to start on the Oncology floor with CHC, his reply was "well thats depressing!" After consulting with my aunt who can always calm me down, she had a similar experience with him two years ago. Therefore I can say with absolute confidence that I will never return to his office and I discourage anyone else from going there either!

The workers are nice and they treat you well, but they dont seem to respect your time. The 1st visit, I was there for several hours. I was there to have a "deep biopsy" over 3 weeks ago. I ended up getting 2 stitches and I am still waiting for the results of my biopsy. I have called 3 times, but I was told a longer wait time for the results with each call. Today I called, number 4, but I was told they left early. I will never see this doctor again.

Its been a couple of years but I had to fire Dr. Cowen because of rude staff and for bringing a visitor, not associated with the practice, to come into the exam room. He asked me if it was ok to bring in the visitor after he brought in the visitor. I felt pressured to agree. And he showed the visitor my skin and talked as if I was an object and not a person. Stay away from this practice. Go to Graves Gilbert, they are great.

Dont know about Marys review...but just had my first visit with Dr. Cowan. for a spot on my hand that needed to be looked at. Appointment was easy, staff was nice, and Tffany (nurse) was great. Dr. Cowan was great too! Nice, easy going...very professional. Did what was needed. Will write more as follow-up visits go. But for right now...hes pretty good.

I will never return to Dr.Cowan. He was very condescending towards me. Dr.Cowan did not even address my concerns. Instead he was more fixated on selling me unessesary treatment. He barely even examined me and could not even recognize a ringworm infection. I will never go back to Dr.Cowan.
