First let me say we have been to many vets before Dr Rabek at Cresent Hill Animal Hospital. Our Labs are like our children. The first experience we had was when our first Lab Harry was shot by one of our neighbors. Pushed his way under a wire fence as I yelled for him. Within two minutes the neighbor shot him not for being aggressive but because he grabbed a work glove and took off with it. Labs a mischievous. As I was going after him through the field as quickly as I could I heard a loud shot followed by instant yelps of pain and instinctively knew my dog had been shot. Happened just that quickly. We found him on our front porch in a pool of blood. We rushed him to closest vet and it was as if we were at a human hospital emergency room. Dr Rabek and staff jumped right it and saved our boy. We have had two more labs since then and nothing but great care always at Cresent Hill Animal Hospital. Multiple surgerys and just about anything that can go wrong with a dog they have treated our dogs always with great success. Dr Rabek always goes into great detail about what is going on with our animals and answers questions we have at any time we call. Very nice guy and the sweetest staff. With our last Lab Gracie when the time came he even came to our home when it was time to end her suffering. We wanted her to pass peacefully in her home. Nothing but the absolute best to say about them all. His office isnt new and fancy but the honesty, knowledge, experience and most of all caring are there. We would never consider going anyplace else.

Dr. Rabek and his staff have always been amazing to both my boyfriend and me as we have taken our pets (rescue cats and a rescue dog) here since we moved to Louisville a little over a year ago. Around this time last year my rescue cat Oscar (my only pet at the time) was my baby and he suddenly became very very ill. Dr. Rabek fit us in to his schedule immediately and ran (and thoroughly explained) every test he could to figure out what was wrong. We were in and out of the office several times a week for 2-3 weeks. When he was no longer able to treat Oscar (at this point we had ruled out every other possibility and he thought Oscar had either lymphoma or meningitis of the spinal cord) he made us an appointment at Blue Pearl. They confirmed that these were his most probable diagnoses (I am a graduate student, living on a graduate student stipend, and therefore declined the $2,500 purely diagnostic CAT scan and spinal tap they offered as our only other option) and they encouraged us to continue the treatment Dr. Rabek had already prescribed. When Oscar passed at home a few weeks later Dr. Rabeks office sent us a card, even after only being clients of theirs for a few months, which I still have. Since last October we have gotten another rescue cat and rescued a small dog and we always take them to this office. Their care and understanding is so appreciated and their pricing is extremely fair.

In May of 2010 during a time in my life that I had just lost everything and was scared to death, just trying to get through each day, the one thing I had was the little angel in my life, Marley, my little three legged poodle. This dog was my comfort, my best friend. He blessed everyone he met. He got sick very quickly and I had no car at the time so I walked to this office. I pleaded with Dr. Rabek to save my dog but I had no money so all he did was give me a condescending lecture about the stack of unpaid bills he had from people. My daughter drove up here from Danville and gave him a three hundred check. He was supposed to send e-mail with lab results so my daughter could get the antibiotic from her clinic. He never sent a message but called when I was at work and left a message that I had to bring in cash before he would treat. It was too late by the time I got home from work and Marley died that night. I never got lab results or any kind of receipt for the three hundred dollar check that he promptly cashed. He is cold concerning the animals, rude, condescending, and should never touch an animal. I hope you read this Dr. Ravak and remember Marley next week and how you could have given him a five dollar antibiotic and he would be here with me now. If you really love your animal, run from this man.

Ive been going to Crescent Hill animal hospital for 15+ years. every member of my family has been going to Dr Rabek with their animals during that entire period. Dr Rabek has been incredible to us the entire time. Hes cared for about a dozen family pets in that time period. In fact he has been so good and kind to me over the years I often think about how there is no possible way I could ever thank or repay him for the his help. The people who complain about his bedside manner are people who created their animals problems with their own irresponsibility, and Dr Rabek let them know it. Dr Rabek is a caring, thorough professional. He, like any other pet lover, cannot stand to see animals mistreated. He tries to explain the the problems an animal has in detail to the owner with accurate and sometimes complex terminology. His goal is to make sure the owners completely understand what is going on and how to best care for their animals. He has gone way beyond the call of duty for me and my pets numerous times. I recommend his services to all pet owners I meet.

Not only are there multiple accounts of Dr. Rebaks bedside manner, he has kindly provided examples by responding to only all the negative reviews below in a manner that is not respectful of the trauma reported. These reviews never questioned his knowledge, but reported fault in how a tragic set of situations were handled. While, it is not a vets job to navigate the emotions associated with a sick pet, compassion helps this profession. I was personally accused on this review site of "exaggerating" my experience. Now, while things happen in every business, denying any fault and continuing to belittle owners who had horrible experiences for reporting them on this outlet is a testimony to how people and pets can be treated in this place. Not all of course, but enough to show the character described. Sadly, what happened to me was not an exaggeration and I sat on the floor, cried and spoke to many friends and family on the phone sitting on the floor for at least two hours. There are many witnesses. And why would someone make that up.

I love Dr. Rabek and his staff! Anytime I call they immediately know who I am as well as my pet and any time I have had to take my pet in they treat him like he is their own. My dog recently had to have surgery to remove a lump. My dog had never had surgery before so I was extremely nervous about it so they called me during the procedure to let me know that the lump appeared to be a cyst had healthy tissue and in their opinion it didnt need to be biopsied (saved be about $200). They then called me immediately when it was over and let me know how my dog was doing to put my mind at ease. They even showed me the mass when I was in the office picking him up to explain why they could tell it was a normal cyst and I could visually confirm that all of the tissue around it was healthy. On top of their incredible customer service their prices are EXTREMELY REASONABLE. I cannot rave about their office enough, I absolutely love everything about them!
