After moving to Charlestown Indiana Dec. 1, 2015, I decided to establish a connection with a local veterinarian. My previous vet in the Middletown area of Louisville Kentucky was too far to commute, so I had over 7 years of vet records transferred to Charlestown Veterinary Clinic. I visited the vet with my dog of then 8 years for the first time in Spring 2016. My dog was seen as a new patient to the clinic and we established a new oral flee/tick regime (she was previously on topical) and heart worm. As in the past 8 years, I diligently maintained all medicine and IVD special diet food. I was unaware that this vet office did not review the annual vaccination records and update them. I never received a notification that my precious dog needed her annual vaccinations. Thus, for the first time in her life, she missed her annual vaccinations. This left me heartbroken; since June 2016 my dog could have acquired a number of horrible diseases. I cannot understand why the records were not updated and that neither I nor my husband were notified during the many times we visited the clinic for food, heart worm and flee/tick medicine. I was told by the clinic staff that they dont send reminders to new patients who dont have their initial vaccinations there. So if you plan to go to this vet, may sure you go during the time your dog needs its yearly vaccinations. I would highly recommend not going to this vet. My dog is visiting another vet today that does send yearly reminders to all of its patients for annual vaccinations.
