First thing is first, Im reading some of these reviews & I cant even imagine ANYONE at heartland being rude, mean, unattentive in anyway towards a person OR a fury baby & this is why...Ive been going there a while now w/my bunny which is a hard pet to find a good Dr for around here, first time I took my chunky bunz in was when he suddenly fell ill (& I mean ILL!) I was crying half hysterical & beside myself w/fear, not only was the girls at the desk comforting but the nurses & Drs were ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!! My husband & I knew right then & there they were ALL IN OUR CORNER & OUR FURY KIDS WOULD NEVER SEE ANOTHER DR! Long story short my chunky boy had some real major problems & it was a long VERY DIFFICULT BATTLE for not only chunky, myself & my husband but also FOR DR BULL & DR FLANAGAN!! They went above & beyond what Ive ever seen or heard of any vet drs EVER doing for anyone! Ive had fury kids my whole life & all of my family & friends do to so Ive seen & heard it all so when I say this its not lightly, everyone I tell my story to about chunkys fight & the compassion, luv, help, service & AMAZING CARE we received from everyone there everyone always says " AND I QUOTE "wow they went above & beyond anything Ive ever heard of" END OF QUOTE. My chunky was a rescue & I was the one who was extremely blessed to have him in my life for the 6 yrs. The absolute joy & happiness that little 2 pound dwarf lion head baby gave me was like no other & when he lost his battle w/bad genetics & complications in my living room 3 months ago my heart shattered & I still cry almost daily! That horrible morning we took my boy to heartland not knowing what I was supposed to do or where to turn (I was in complete shock & no family lives here) there wasnt a dry eye in the whole place when they seen me walk in bawling holding my lifeless boy, they took me to a peaceful room w/a couch & chairs & everyone would come in while Im kissing & crying & completely loosing it & they would try to console me, telling me what a wonderful mom I was to my boy & how much they could tell he really loved me & they knew he held on as long as he did due to our bond & his love for me.. I never felt so much luv from people that werent my blood family then I did that day & when it was time for me to let go Ill never forget dr. Bull wrapping my little boy in a blanket & sweetly carried him away to be cremated, the next day I received flowers from them & then I received a signed cards from everyone, then a few days later I received the most precious gift anyone could EVER give me they took Little impressions of my chunkys feet & they had some of his fur for me so I could always feel him! I cant begin to express or explain the true luv & care my chunky got from them all or THAT I GOT FROM THEM ALL, its impossible for me to put it in words! All Ive EVER seen/heard or felt from everyone there is absolutely wonderful things! NO ONE ELSE WILL EVER BE MY OTHER FURY KIDS DRS! I couldnt find the type of care, understanding & wonderful people anywhere else even if I looked! (& im a millitary wife & have had MANY MANY MANY other vets in every state just about) so this is my story about chunky bunz & his caregivers at HEARTLAND VETERINARY IN ELIZABETHTOWN KY.... Thank you each & every one of you for everything! You all are truly amazing & wonderful people who will always hold a special place in my heart:)

Dear Lexi, We as veterinarians and staff are disappointed to see your complete experience following your visit to our office was not a positive one. We make every effort to ensure all of our patients are provided the best possible treatment and are not in pain from any condition, whether it is arthritis, joint disease, surgery, or recovery from an injury. In your case, your roommate traveled from Bowling Green to Elizabethtown with your dog and elected the full course of treatment that day. We completed radiographs (xrays), started pain medications and explained that surgical treatment will ultimately provide the best pain relief. A few days later you called back and mentioned that you would like to consult with the other doctor for a second opinion over the phone. She reviewed your xrays and put together a tentative treatment plan and left messages on the phone numbers we had for you, going so far as to leave a message at your work and on the friends phone number we had listed. We were booked full on appointments at the times you called, so we were unable to reach you as rapidly as you requested. We welcome you to schedule an appointment for a consult and recheck examination now that the first round of anti-inflammatory medication is completed as that is the best way to evaluate the condition of your pet. Yours truly, The veterinarians and staff of Heartland Veterinary Hospital

We left our handsome boxer here 3-4 times and were just okayed; but figured at least it was a safe place because it IS a vet hospital. The lady at the front desk is rude but we can deal with that. One worker- Ally is great and we wish her well in life. The reason for the one star- over spring break we boarded our boxer and when we picked him up something had been done to him. We suspect fowl play- abuse of some sort. Hair loss in weird shapes on both sides of his back. Their Vet looked at him and gave him a thumbs up healthy.... Umm can you see the hair loss and skin discoloration? Apparently not. We took him to our own vet and they have run skins tests and cultures- they did rule out physical abuse such as a hot iron brand, hitting, beating etc. they believe it was neglect and a possible dirty environment. Now our vet bills are going crazy as we try to figure out what heartland did to our baby. He has been on antibiotics for 2 weeks and its not getting better. Can they be bothered to check on him? Nope. They are covering their butts and didnt even offer monies refunded or any compensation for their negligence. We just want to know what they did to him so we can make it better. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I am in the military and generally use the on post vet, but they do not offer after hours care. Someone was pulling in to the drive way and my dog put his paws on the side of the car to greet them before the car came to a stop and the tired rolled over his back feet. I called Heartland (after hours) and they met me at the door. The took him in, reassured me (and I was pretty distraught, so that was no easy matter for them). They took their time to carefully tend to him. He has since healed with no limp, no scars, and no lasting issues. They explained his injuries to me in a way I could understand well. The fur on his two back paws were gloved, the fur peeled back on them. The aftercare was stellar and he is totally healed. This is one fabulous vet who I have recommended to many. I hear they are a little more expensive than other vets, but my thought is that I would want the best care for myself no matter the cost, so shouldnt I want the same care for my pet? Im sure if he could talk he would agree.
