DO NOT GO TO THIS VET! I wish I could give this place a score lower than Poor - Fair but unfortunately you cannot. I never used this vet personally but I re-homed a pet that its previous owner used this vet. Why? I have no idea because they are the most rude and unprofessional establishment I have worked with in years. All I wanted was to have my new pets records faxed to the vet we use in our home state which is not in Kentucky and after not only 2 phone calls from the cats previous owner, but also 2 phone calls from me, and another 2 from my vet I still do not have my pets records! When our vet called them the first time they told them that they had absolutely no record of the animal...of the animal that has been going there for over 3 years...okay. When I called, Jenna, said they have the records and that she would fax them to my vet right away...she didnt. When our vet called them again the lady who they think was named Jessica was completely rude and told them they didnt have the records, that they already released the records to the owner, that they were getting no information from them whatsoever about the animal. Which obviously I do not have the records nor does the previous owner or I wouldnt be writing this review right now. I dont understand what is so hard about faxing a patients records to a new vet when I called them the first time and they reassured me that the new vet could request the records and it would be no problem. All I want is for my new pet to get the proper care it needs at its new vet and Dixie Animal Hospital is making that impossible.

(LESS THAN 1 STAR!) I do not like this clinic for several reasons from over the years, but a more recent situation has occurred to reassure the reasons of why I do not like this clinic. A family member of mine just got a puppy and took her to this clinic to get her vaccinations and to be tested for anything(she was previously living on a farm). She wanted to have the Vet test her for PARVO but the Vet did not want to and just did an exam and found that she had worms. (A lot, since she was living OUTSIDE on a farm). Well...She was given instructions and such for the worms and was told to just wait and see if she would get rid of the worms on her own. About 3 days later, my daughter and I were babysitting her and noticed that she had rapid breathing in her sleep and sometimes when she was awake. The next day we babysat her again and she was very lethargic, sleeping all day and still had the rapid breathing. That night when the family member came and took her back to her house, she threw up everywhere and had diarrhea. She then took her to a different Vet the next day and they tested her for PARVO. Guess what?! SHE WAS POSITIVE FOR PARVO!!!! Now we have to bleach a lot of stuff and clean the poop from our backyard(hopefully our dog didnt come in contact with it). The family member of mine has to bleach every floor in her house and has to give my dog and her dog a booster shot. Thank you Dixie Animal Hospital(and the vet who didnt want to test for PARVO) for reassuring my thoughts about you. Very much appreciated and I would not recommend this place for ANYONE!

Here is the vet office doing it right. Other places are in it for the money yet this place has the same equipment and more compassionate doctors. My story is simple, I was tapped out because early in the day my elderly cat had been attended to by our awesome vet office who had closed at 12. By the time Id gotten home, my other elderly cat started having issues. I called around trying to see what could be done, and the office across the street from me, in Jeffersonville are notoriously expensive without reason, quoted 600. Friends recommended Dixie instead, and I called. They said their basic office fee, blood work and xrays and meds wouldnt be more than 300. It was less. Im in the process of writing a thank you note to Dr Lionell Smith for her care of my fur baby Sassy. My cat had blood work done to rule out trouble there, turns it she had a uti and was a bit dehydrated. Id recommend Dr Smith as the backup vet all of us need. Everyone should be so well priced.

Have used them for years for all my pet needs. Until today my experience has been good. Today we had to make a tough decision to send our 16 year old baby to doggie heaven. I stopped by there earlier and informed the girl at the front desk we would be bringing Bailey in. She was very comforting to me explaining how the process would go. She brought us back to the room and took bailey back to put the cathater in him. Then the doctor came back in with his limp body saying he had to fully sedate him because he was being aggressive with him. Then injected him and said "done". He took the moment away from us to fully say our goodbye to our beloved family pet. Ruined our last moment with our baby.we just looked at each other like what the heck just happened. The doctor was about as sympathetic to us as a rock. Like I said the girls at the front desk have always been good to us but this doctor has lost our buisness after alot of years

I boarded my six month old Yellow Lab with Dixie for three nights when I had to go out of town, and when I picked him up he was kennel crazy from not being exercised at all the entire time. It was only then I found out that he had only been let out of his crate three times a day, for ten minutes at a time (to do his business) but had not had any attention or exercise besides that! Also, this same dog was seen by several different vets at Dixie over a three month period when he was brand new, and each one told us his diarrhea was just due to diet. After hundreds of dollars in bills and several food changes, we got a second opinion and found out the poor thing had WORMS!!! This entire time Dixie was not able to diagnose something as simple as worms. I am never taking my dogs or cat back to them! The staff might care about animals, but they do not seem to know how to care for them.

Worst experience I have ever had at a vet. I will not be returning. A few weeks ago our older chihuahua jumped from the recliner and fractured her jaw. As soon as we noticed something was wrong we took her to Dixie (an awful mistake). The vet there was extremely rude barely spoke 2 words to us and gave us 2 options pay 3000 to put plates and wires in her mouth or put her down (remind you it was a hairline fracture!!!) We asked her to stabilize the jaw and we were going to get a second opinion. They taped her mouth closed with white medical tape instead of a muzzle.... When the tape was removed it removed a lot of hair with it. We paid $300 for some lady to tape our dogs mouth closed and didnt even get a solution. I am extremely furious with them and I will never be going back.
