Friday at around 3PM I called to get an appointment for my 90 yo mother. Admittedly, it was late but she frequently does not complain about things until later in the day. I was told there was no chance of seeing someone that day but that I should call first thing, 7:30 AM, the next morning, Saturday. I was assured that if I called at that time, that Id get an appointment for her. I began calling at 7:30:01 AM. I got a recording, so while I was listening to that recording, I called from my cell phone and got the same recording. I kept alternating calls until I got someone. It took about 8 minutes. While I was on hold, the recording claimed that if we needed to see a doctor that day, that wed be able to see a doctor that day. I talked to someone who told me that they could see my mom at 9:30 AM. There were some pauses as she explained that the computer was slow. OK....no problem. Then she told me that they would have to call me back and so I left my cell number. It was getting close to 8:30 AM and its at least a 20 minutes ride so I started to get my mom ready. We arrived early a few minutes after 9:00. The receptionist told me that no appointment had been made. I told them that my mom was in pain and that we had been trying to make an appointment late afternoon the day before. He told me that no appointments were available. So I asked if she could see a nurse practitioner. He came back and told us to sit down the hall and that wed be called. We were in fact called sometime after 10:00 AM only to be told that no one would see her and that there was no discussion about it. We had to leave. I happened to get her in to see a doctor in some other place. She had 2 different infections and was given antibiotics.....something I had asked Oschner for but was refused. For someone who is 90, a hang-nail can be a real problem. For a clinic/hospital to turn away an elderly patient, in pain, is inexcusable. I followed what I was told to do to get an appointment and was sent away. I gave Oschner 2 stars because they had always been 1st class on everything else. Id say that their staff has always been top notch....until last Saturday when they completely dropped the ball. The recording of getting a same day appointment, at least in my case, was totally false.

If I could rate this suppose to be hospital a 0, I Promise you I Would!!!!!!! My father has been going to this hospital the past month at least once or twice every week with the latest being today and the service that this hospital provided him and me was BELOW STANDARDS!!!!! If this was one isolated incident, I could somewhat understand. My parents are 79 and 81 years old (Father is 81). Ill talk about the most recent incident, Today....He had to be rushed there AGAIN at 3am this morning, once again service was HORRIBLE!!!!! My dad kept telling them he needed a urinal and the response from the nurse was that HIS nurse hasnt made it back to the station yet, REALLY????? Then a cop had to bring him one!!! They didnt give him a wheelchair to leave in, made him walk to the car!!!! Last visit (a few days ago), the lady was so rude and then she slammed my car door. If he wasnt in the car, I would have told her a piece of my mind. I wish he would go to Slidell but he keeps going back there

My family member, a veteran, was in ICU for 6 days. The social workers refused to contact VA to begin the necessary "coordination of care" process. They initially asked me to "help" by providing them info, which they later used against me & my family member. The charge nurse sat in the nurses station in his Drew Brees jersey, shooting the bull with co-workers, and said to me "We get veterans through here all the time. We dont do that." Everything was about making their jobs as easy as possible, and not about helping my family member. The doctor bit my head off because I repeated back what he said to ensure clarity, because his English took some effort to follow. He condescendingly said, "what about this dont you understand?" in a phone conversation that I didnt even want to take, because I was already on MY phone with VA when the nurse came and got me in the visitors lounge and INSISTED that I had to come and talk to the doctor.

I was recently in a car wreck and taken to Northshore emegency room and the Doctors and staff were extremely rude to me..I had to ask numerous times for something for the pain which BTW i Receieved NOTHING..I had to also suggest several times where i thought needed to be xrayed and they xrayed None of those places..Now my knees and ankles are killing me and i dont know what the outcome is because they were never xrayed, which i have a previous injury, a crushed ankle in which i have two metal plates and several screws in it, They did NOTHING!!..My back is also killing me too and that wasnt xrayed either..I wound up taking off the neck brace and leaving without being discharged, which btw, my neck is about the only thing that ISNT killing me!!..Thanks NORTHSHORE for a whole lot of Nothing !!

My husband had hip replacement surgery Dec 154th on OCHSNER Jefferson Hey campus. Was under OCHSNER home health care. Nurses did nothing when he continued not to have a bowl movement 12 days later, finally we ended up at emergency room OCHSNER in Slidell. Nurse Keena said he had over an hour wait just like everyone else. She was rude and unsympathetic that between his very recent hip replacement and bowls restricted he could not sit down just lay on his stomach. She was very unprofessional and said we could not be accomodated and we had to leave and go to Louisiana Heart Hospital. I recommend Louisiana Heart Hospital for fast, professional emergencies.

My son and I went into Dr. McGoverns office for foot pain and it was coded as corns and callouses, which neither one of us have. Oschner submitted it to insurance and insurance denied it as it is not covered procedures. When calling Oschner back to rectify the problem, not only would they not let me speak to the doctor, they told me that they would not allow the cash rate because "policy is that if insurance rejects a claim, we do not do that". Be careful when going to this place! In fact, if there is another option, go there! Oh and most customer service reps on the phone are not friendly.

My 2 yr old son was in this hospital for 6 days with RSV/pneumonia. Along with taking good care of my son, the staff was very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing and I believe they made the best decisions towards my sons recovery. It was tough being in the hospital right before Christmas but the experience with the doctors and nurses at this hospital made it not as bad as it could have been.
