I was horribly disappointed in the care I received at this clinic and at Johns Hopkins as a whole. I drove all the way across the country to be seen at the neurology clinic and was treated very badly. The staff were curt and rude, never smiling or looking up from their paperwork while I checked in, I was left waiting for my appointment for almost two hours, the doctor never looked at all the paperwork I had had sent to him and had no idea who I was or why I was at the clinic. After a cursory examination, he announced that my case would have to go to Grand Rounds. My paperwork had been at the clinic for 4 weeks. Perhaps it could have been reviewed in Grand Rounds BEFORE I got there???? I left with no answers and completely frustrated and angry. Even the receptionist/security guard at the front entrance to the clinic was rude, again, never looking at me and just pointing in the direction I had to go. I made the mistake of using the ladies room in the main 301 campus and was appalled at how dirty and disgusting it was. The soap dispenser was off the wall, the stalls were indescribable and the floor was completely nasty. And this is in a hospital! I traveled 3 days to be seen at "the best neurosurgery clinic in the country." A completely wasted trip. I will never darken their doors again. Horrible, horrible experience.

Me & my fiancé came here because she was having abdominal pain. It took about an hour to be taken to a room which isnt that bad but we came to ER & from what we could see their werent any pressing medical issues with others waiting to be seen as well. Could have been quicker, with that being said some of the staff was friendly but never going above & beyond to make us feel comfortable or reassure us of what was going on or how long test would take. The security isnt so friendly or helpful & parking cost $10 per day, you can get a re admission ticket so that you dont have to pay twice in one day which is nice. The facility is clean & medical equipment isnt cutting edge technology but they seem to get the job done with what they have. All in all Id go to Mercy! Their staff are very friendly & all seem to care about the level of service that each patient receives. Not to mention they have an awesome gift shop, cafeteria is better than some restaurants Ive been to & the rooms are a lot more comfortable. Plus the technology is up to date! If you are dying or need absolute immediate attention Id still say drive another 10 minutes up the road to Mercy. Id come to this hospital if I scraped my knee or the ground if that makes our experience here any clearer..

I was a travel RN with 28 yrs exp ....... heres what I saw, no real orientation to travelers, staff cooking fried chicken in the icu unit at night while the pts are not allowed to eat or drink, pt abandonment while new admissions are worked, staff lying to supervisors, absent supervisors, staff yelling at other staff, rudeness is the norm , outdated equipment, 3 different phone systems and you just have to somehow know which phone does what., multiple barriers to pt care, including the computer system, slow call light response, staff in higher programs here for purpose of using the name on their resumes instead of working a job, staff parking is 900-1000 feet from the door, wtf, good old boy buddy system, if theres a complaint they just stonewall it or get security to escort you out etc...and by the way theres security everywhere because this is how they deal with most any problem. - if you actually need a doc that only works there Ok, but as soon as you do not need that specialist care you are going want to be transferred somewhere else that day. remember the shooting? how many hospitals have had a doc or other staff shot at?

I was rushed to Bayview by ambulance b/c it is a trauma center. As soon as they found out that I was uninsured, it was like no one cared to treat me anymore. I was hit by a car, knocked down and dragged for abotu 6 feet. I suffered a bleeding head injury, a ton of road rash, a ton of deep bruises. The doctor looked at my head wound briefly, without cleaning it, and said," i think you can go without stitches". He never saw my horrible bruise along my whole underside of my left upper arm, probably b/c the dumb nurse put the BP cuff there. OMG, when that thing inflated, i saw stars. The same nurse was prepping the site to give me a tetnious shot, she used an alcohol wipe and cleaned RIGHT where my raw road rash was on the opposite arm. I screamed. she said, " oh, sorry hon". they she did it to the other arm. They discharged me with dirty wounds, no scans to check my head or abdomum for internal injuries, and still bleeding from my head. I bled for about 4 hours.. they should have cleaned my head wound with saline or something. will never go there again.

Absolutely horrible - I took another person here with a head injury shortly after midnight. Did not take terribly long to be triaged and receive a cat scan (approximately 1 hr 45 m) but having a doctor sit down and provide the results was a different story, "We only have one doctor here tonight to read them so maybe 30 minutes. Two hours later we still had not heard anything. We were told that if it were serious he would have been taken back but we have to wait for a room so the doctor can go over the results. Wait hours for a room to be told youre fine?? Waste of our time. Made the decision to leave and have the family doctor look at them in the morning. The staff was nice enough; not an exceptionally friendly environment though. While there we heard some absurd number like 27 people waiting and one had been there for 10 hours (?). Four different people left because it was taking too long. An ER shouldnt be causing people to leave in possible emergency situations. This place shouldnt be allowed to exist - do not waste your time.

Patients first sent my wife to the bayview ER when she had some cramps and bleeding last night. They confirmed that she was pregnant and were worried there was a chance she was having a miscarriage. My wife waited 4 hours to be seen, and still had 8 people in front of her in line. She gave up and went home. This morning she woke me up to let me know that she took a second pregnancy test this morning and was no longer pregnant. I understand that there was probably nothing the hospital could have done to change the outcome. I also understand that this is Baltimore, and there were probably very serious medical emergencies taking place. However, when youre bleeding and scared that your baby is dying inside you, you dont want to wait. In the future, Id rather spend an extra hour driving someplace else than wait 6-8 hrs to be seen here for anything but the gravest emergencies.
