I went to the ER with abnormal uterine bleeding, on Friday 5/17 and NOT ONE PERSON was at the Front Desk to receive me. There was an Amish boy and his dad there too who couldnt get care. I waited at least 7 mins for someone to come to the front desk of the ER!. A nurse came out and I asked her if anyone worked the front desk; I needed someone to sign me in and take my vitals... she said she didnt know where the lady was and then never bothered to ask me how I was or if I needed help or to get someone for me. When the receptionist finally decided to show up I was upset and asked where she was. She got very defensive and started raising her voice,saying "are you yelling at me??!" I wasnt yelling, but I was agitated with abnormal bleeding, nausea, menopausal, and in pain. I couldnt believe that receptionist took an attitude with me and that no one cared about my concerns as I stood there bleeding down my legs. Her FIRST reaction SHOULD be a profuse apology for leaving her station that long. NOT retaliating against the patients. OMG! Because she was arrogant and incompetent, I just left. Clear case of patient abandonment, on their part. I drove bleeding/ in pain to Geisinger 30 mins down the road. Geisinger immediately greeted me, and had me in a hospital room, and cleaned up and cared for. I was close to tears at how kind Geisinger was to me after my experience at Evangelical, and how genuinely attentive to both my emotional and physical needs. They were shocked that I drove all that way to Danville because the front desk was unattended at Evangelical for so long and told me to file a complaint. So I have added yet another complaint against Evangelical including one with the state licensing board and the BBB, and anyone else who will listen. I am just so fed up. Its becoming a real joke -- their service has been so unstable. Being the grand daughter of a doctor certainly adds to my poor opinion of them as I know this treatment is poor! In agreement with other comments: Evangelical hospital has rude doctors who yell at you and judgmental ER staff and forget about trying to get an email from any of these doctors. My last doctor at Evan broke my heart. I had called at 700 pm with leg pain/cramps and he started jumping down my throat for calling him "so late at night." Bear in mind he was ON CALL and I had contacted HIS SERVICE.There is never any excuse to mistreat a patient. I transferred my records out of his office the next morning, to another doctor at Evan that another one of my doctors uses, but Evan has been so horrible historically and with this latest ER incident, I am leaving just to get out of Evans care PERMANENTLY. My experiences have been that bad and its too stressful to continue to run into unprofessional behavior in a medical facility. I might even be the recipient of retaliation for complaining. I also had an incident in their lab; when trying to get my blood work done; the girl in their freaked out that she couldnt take my blood cause "my veins rolled" (multiple other facilities have taken my blood work without issue) and I had to reschedule because she couldnt find anyone EXPERIENCED enough in the lab to take my blood work! Hello! This is a hospital people! Hire people who are TRAINED! For the handful of good experiences I have had at Evan, (there is one good ER doc at Evan who I request to see when I have been there) unfortunately the bad ones have outweighed them. BTW if you try to complain or go to the ombudsman; she will side with the doctor or try to downplay bad behaviors. They never believe or take the patients word and will cover their own FIRST. Please continue to file your complaints with the state medical board- they dont act immediately, but poor behavior patterns will make a difference with enough complaints. I no longer want to be with Evangelical. They just dont care about their patients. At least Geisinger knows how to approach me. In the many years I have been to them they have never treated me this unprofessionally.. Thank God I had somewhere else to go.

Sorry say this er a joke maybe it the staff and Dr I had but horrible horrible. Would never ever recommend this er!!! Down visiting family and had some issues so had come er but they are horrible horrible didnt know what to do for patients with ulcerative colitis and that. Tylenol for my pain and nothing help my ulcerative colitis. Be sure Ill be telling all about this horrible hospital.

Best doctors, nurses and staff at ER! We were visiting from Morgantown, WV, attending a music competition. One of our students who had asthma flare-up was treated here tonight. We were impressed how thorough and caring everyone there was tonight, the attending doctor, the respiratory specialist, the RN, the administrative assistant. Thank you very much!

Horrible place i waited literally 2 hours before someone came in to look at me an they didnt do nothing i was in horrible pain they wouldnt even give me ibuprofen or anything for the pain then tried to hold me against my will to leave... very horrible place if i could give zero stars i would.. just plain horrible

Evangelical gets 4 stars because they have a decent staff that actually seems to care about people. In my experience, they do things pretty much on time, and there is more of an at home, relaxed, kind of atmosphere. Lost a star for the crappy billing department, but other than that, good hospital.

Wonderful atmosphere, very caring staff---exactly the way you want to be treated and cared for when hospitalization is necessary. Best hospital experiences Ive ever had---and have been in 4 others. Will definitely got to Evan when needed if at all possible--even though its a 45 minute drive.

Yesterday I visited the hospital for laboratory tests and found each and every person who assisted me to be caring, friendly and professional. I cannot praise these folks enough! In this day and age of some facilities operating like "factories", Evan is definitely a cut above.

Absolutely Top Notch ER... I am from Jersey and was super impressed with the many private ER rooms and speed of being treated. 5 star ER, easily! Only gripe? The A/C is like set at 60 degrees. I needed like 5 blankets but, if it is to stop the spread of disease, I understand.

Have been waiting almost 3 hrs having difficulty breathing at times and hard time catching breath. No one has been called for 45 minutes at least. A lady has been waiting since before I arrived and she is having someone come pick her up. Worst hospital visit Ive ever had!

Best ER and Urgent Care facility around, great staff, very clean. The wait to be seen has been very short the times Ive been there. Evan as a whole is SO much better than Geisinger. Highly recommend.

Ive been there when I was born and I was there when I was five years old because my brother cut me in the thumb and the doctors were nice to me
