Dr. Strobel thinks hes God. He comes into your room with 4 or 5 residents and soley talks to them about his findings as if you are some project. He does this everytime. Not to mention, even if you are an exisitng patient you have to schedule a month in advance. AND he does not see patients on an emergency basis. I had 2 episodes with him. The first time, I ran out of re-fills for my medication, I called in and asked them to re-fill until I could come in....I was told no, he wouldnt re-fill anything without seeing me first...okay...when can I come in..they said next month and if I had a problem with that, then I should go to Walgreens and buy generic facial wash or anything over the counter until they could see me. They were very rude and inconsiderate. Second...I went to the ER for skin problems and was told to follow up with my dermatologist. I called and explained the situation and his office said they couldnt see me until 8 week later!!! They DID NOT CARE whatsoever about my situation, and refused to let me speak to Dr. Strobel. He never talks to you in person or over the phone. Now Im upset because Im having problems and NO DERMATOLOGIST! I pay 300.00 per month for health insurance and I REFUSE to deal with poor service!

I am a 31 year old African American woman (theres a point to telling you this, I promise) and made an appointment with Dr. Strobel because my hair is thinning. During my first appointment, I explained my issue and Dr. Strobel immediately responded with "Well, black women usually experience thinning hair as a result of long term weave and braid wearing." I responded "Well, that cannot be my issue as Ive never had either." He looked surprised and then decided to take a sample. Today, I had my follow up appointment where Dr. Strobel now relegated my hair thinning to "long-term hot comb usage." I hav enever used a hot comb. Do black people even still use hot combs? Moral of the story: Not all black women wear weaves, braids or use hot combs. Maybe try ASKING and doing a bit of fact-finding to determine the root issue instead of assuming. I wonder if he assumes that all white people skin issues are caused by tanning beds. I bet he ASKS if they tan or about the amount of sun exposure they experience.

I have been a patient of this office for about 8 years or so. I really havent had too many issues minus two major ones that forced me to write this review and forced me to find a new Dermatologist. I needed a refill on a prescription about 6 months ago and the receptionist assured me that it was taken care of with no issues. I did not see the prescription until two weeks later and 20 phone calls from me to the office. The second issue occurred recently. I called over to get a refill on a prescription and it took a week and a half for them to tell me that they could not refill it due to me having a new insurance company and it had almost been a year since I last saw them. And to take the cake, the receptionist Shannon, told me that she would call me back on multiple occasions to give me an update and she did not even bother to call me back at all. I do not know if its a lack of good help or lack of common sense, but dont waste your time find a different Dermatologist.

I dont know what "Shannon" below is talking about. But I had a perfect experience with Dr. Strobel. I was being bitten all over by an unknown source in my new townhouse (i researched online and knew it wasnt bed bugs, scabbies, etc...) and couldnt take the itching and bumps anymore so I called him and was able to make an emergency appointment for the next day. I waited maybe 15 minutes in the waiting room and maybe 10 minutes in the examination room (which i believe to be above average for waiting in my book) and he came in the room by himself, examined me quickly and a efficiently. He gave me two prescriptions and I was on my way in less than 20 minutes. Both medications worked like a dream and I have him to thank for his advice and kind words. To summarize the above, Dr. Strobel is a experienced and intelligent dermatologist that has a great practice.

I have been a patient for 10+ years and I highly recommend Dr Strobel. His office has been extremely accommodating even for those "emergency" last minute issues. Like any Drs office there can be a wait. But it is worth it especially when you consider that this is the type of Doctor and dermatologist that will take the time when needed to diagnose or identify or even spot something ...Like skin cancer... though you are just there for a follow up for something else like dandruff ... The office and exam rooms on my experience have been very clean. I give the practice 5 stars. And recommend this practice to family and friends.

He is a wonderful doctor. The customer service is lacking and the technology. If you need a copy of anything... fax and in-person are the only options. The office is unable to send prescriptions electronically (e-mail) or receipt information. Every time you call, they pick up and say can you hold. Why not wait or place a person in a queue or something until can you address their needs before you even pick-up. Asking someone to hold is not service. You answer the phone and say please hold? This is not customer service.... Time to consider an upgrade in phone system and electronics and customer service training.

The office is dirty and dingy. Its dark and over crowded and reflective of the staffs lack of hygiene and efficiency. They lost my referral and could not find me appointment. The room where I was finally seen was filthy. There were shreds of paper from a patient gown and a rolled up gown on the floor near the biohazard bin. They seem to be so overwhelmed that they cannot maintain the facility. Awful. I will not be back.

The doctor is fine and the PA is fine but the office staff is AWFUL. Rude, they act like youre doing them a favor by coming in. I dont know why the doctors in Catonsville put up with it, surely there are better employees around.

Dr. Strobel has been my dermatologist since I was a teen. Hes fantastic and one of the most knowledgeable doctors ever. He keeps up on new therapies and definitely considers insurance when giving you a prescription.
