Another reviewer where if there was an option for no stars thats what we would give them. I have decent dental insurance but unfortunately they are the only pediatric dentists in the area that took our insurance so we brought our 4 children there for a few visits. Never again. My youngest son needed a tooth pulled but they never mentioned getting a spacer for him after his tooth was pulled. Six months later we took him back for a cleaning and they told us he should have a spacer. Then we also had to have cavities filled on two of my children. Prior to having the work done They told me how much my portion of the bill I was responsible for and I paid it the day the work was done. Then a few months later I get a bill for the same work. After multiple phone call between my insurance provider and Kool Smiles I found out they had done work not paid for by insurance and I was responsible for it. I was not happy that I thought I had already paid the bill only to be hit with more charges but I reluctantly paid it. The above work was done in September of 2015. This week I get a bill from a collection agency for another 70 or so dollars for the same work that I thought was already paid in full. I called Kool Smiles and find out they decided to use a white filling instead of the silver filling (or vice versa) and my insurance did not pay that. So here it is one year later and they are billing me through a collection agency after I never received one bill for it and for work that I did not even okay. If you tell me it is going to cost X dollars to do the work that is what it should cost. It is not my fault you give me an price based upon whay my insurance covefs and then your dentist used a different filling that my insurance does not cover. We have also been billed for additional charges after everyone one of our other visits. I always ask what is covered and how much it will be and paid fot it on the day of service but every single time we were there we received a bill for additional charges after the fact. I have gone back to our original dentist who does not take our insurance and my insurance only pays an 80% benefit for using an out of network provider but in the long run she is still cheaper then using Kool Smiles. AND IN MY OPINION PROVIDES BETTER DENTAL SERVICES!!

I recently took my 2 yr old son to Kool Smiles in Salisbury. This was his second trip to the dentist (we had gone to another dentist 6 months ago, but due to an insurance change, had to find another one). His appointment was scheduled for 9:45am so we arrived at 9:25am - early to fill out new patient paperwork. I was very impressed at first with the friendly receptionist and play area which my son loved, at least for the first hour. We waited almost 2 hrs before being called back at approximately 11:15am. My son generally does very well in new places, but this was entirely too long for a 2 yr old to wait. After about 1 hr 15 min, he was sitting by the door, whimpering because he was so tired and wanted to leave. At about 10:40am the receptionist saw us struggling a little and reassured us we would be called soon. Which didnt happen till over half an hour later. When we were called back, a different woman apologized for the wait and told us it was because it took so long for us to register? I had even arrived early for the appointment for this reason! Then by the time we were "registered" she said all the chairs were full. When we finally got into the area with all the dental chairs, my son sat on my lap because he was very tired and fussy. We waited another 15 min for the hygienist to see us and my son actually fell asleep in my lap. One bright spot - the hygienist was wonderful with my son. She was kind, calm, and handled all the "fussiness" very well, accomplishing what needed to be done. When she was finished, we waited another 15 min (maybe longer) for the actual dentist to look at my sons teeth. I resorted to the pacifier at this point because he was really crying and upset, wanting to leave. The dentist took about 5 min to examine my son. She wasnt overly nice but was professional and asked if we had any questions. At this point, we had been there for almost 3 hrs - we were both done. Needless to say, Im doing everything in my power to not take him back there!! Im thankful my son cooperated for the hygienist (who was great) but this was a very frustrating experience for mom and son!

Ridiculous to contact them... If answer the phone in the office, they put you on hold and the other option is through a call center where no one speaks English or cant comprehend what youre saying. I called to cancel a cleaning because my daughter had a "work" appointment the same week, told me I still had the work appointment... I called the next day because I wasnt confident she was correct... She had cancelled the wrong appointment. Meanwhile my daughter has gone MONTHS waiting for this appointment and now shell have to wait another month. She had a cavity in a back tooth, the dentist told us she needed a cap. I trusted they knew what they were doing. They told me theyd give her gas to calm her down, which they did. They then told me she wasnt sitting still, which she was, (I was sitting right there) and strapped her into the papoose (a straight jacket essentially) with 3 people holding her down while she screamed in terror for 15 minutes. They had already started drilling so I had to wait for them to finish. Obviously, I got her a new dentist and he has told me she only needed a filling, not a cap, let alone the 2 caps they put on. So she went through that horror as a small child for a procedure she didnt even need. A procedure I paid $600 for because we didnt have insurance. I dont know how this place has such high ratings when all Ive heard since our experience are horror stories. Choose with caution!

The Dentist is great but getting through to the actual office staff for information like a referral or in my case a reaction to medication prescribed GOOD LUCK! All calls are routed through a call center. When you reach the call center the general response is the office your trying to reach is busy and cannot answer the phone at his time so I can take a message and have them call you back. In good faith I agreed to this only to wait two days for a call back. I of course went to the ER when I did not get a call back within an hour. I tried to call them back many times and became so frustrated with being put on hold while they tried to reach the Fruitland office and my all time favorite was when I was transferred to an office 3 hours from Fruitland. Dr.K was a great dentist but I just need the full package. The ladies in this office are wonderful when you go in but KOOL SMILES needs more staff and they need to allow for the individual offices to handle the needs of their patients. I can understand they save money on farming out scheduling appointments but this is healthcare not a hair appointment.
