I would honestly give this hospital 5 stars but overall they deserve four. I see a few bad reviews on here but overall I completely disagree. I have been taking my pets to Ambassador for a few years now and I have seen the turnover with some of the younger staff. When young adults are in high school and community college the jobs they are in are not the highest paying but given the job market it is a job and allows for valuable life and work experience, the journey is the reward. Additionally working for a vets office allows them to see what its like to be a veterinarian and the various responsibilities aside from the care and treatment of animals a doctors medical practices faces. The primary doctor of the practice is a bit older (but no less competent and very sharp) and provides good quality medical care at reasonable. As far as the demeanor of the Veterinarian he acts like a normal person of his age group. Everyone reading this has a grandma or grandpa or works with colleagues close to retirement age, do they act like a 20 or 30 year old? Of course not but they are no less knowledgeable or competent( actually more so) in regards to their job. Veterinarians have to go through a lot of schooling to learn the anatomy, physiology and care and treatment of many types of animals not just one ( as in the case of human doctors). With that said Veterinarians are in demand particularity in a growing city and this doctor and his practice is actually and asset to our community. The people posting negative comments may be rival offices with rival staff attempting to manipulate this doctor to sell his practice as it is a prime location for a vets office via writing negative reviews. Of my over three years of going to this doctor I have never had a bad experience with service, professionalism, or price of services. I will continue to recommend this vets office and bring my pets here. Richard,

I brought my cat in for a respiratory issue and an annual exam. After seeing the exam room, I told them I was mistaken and that my cat was up to date on her shots. The exam room was not clean and provided a very uncomfortable, unpleasant experience for our cat - the intercom system came on several times, and the phone in the exam room also rang very loudly. The vet has a terrible bedside manner. He did not interact with our cat at all and did not seem to care much about her. Halfway through our visit, the vet tech walked out of the room with our cat without saying where she was going (to weigh her). When I asked them to clip our cats nails, they acted like it was an insane request -- the last straw was when the vet began clipping her nails with human nail clippers! The cost was astronomical - they charged us three times what our last vet did for a hairball medicine. We wound up spending $100 on a visit that lasted about 20 minutes. I knew all I needed to know about this place when I filled out the welcome form, which asks you to indicate whether you consider your pets "members of the family" or "just pets." what kind of veterinarians office would ask this? do they treat the pets differently either way? horrible. we will never come back here.

I am Matt Bewley. Im writing this response to a recent posting of a fictitious employee Everet Johnson on the google page. I have been working for ambassador animal hospital for over 7 and have never met this employee. Her statement is utterly false with the one intention of hurting the reputation of ambassador animal hospital. When i moved to Maryland i looked for jobs and was very disappointed in the prospect of not finding any. Then i interviewed with Dr.Roy and at Ambassador animal hospital and evan though i had no prior experience he hired me in the kennel. Since then his training has given me tremendous knowledge to perform any jobs including kennel, grooming, radiology, surgery, pharmacy, in house testing and front customer service. Today i could proudly walk into another animal clinic and talk about the knowledge that i have now and the ability to work in different departments such as the kennel/radiology/surgery/front desk independently etc. So dont believe all these google user posts with fictitious names or no name at all. i am very satisfied with my time at Ambassador animal hospital and i will be joining the Marine Corps soon. -Matthew R Bewley (I authorize publishing on public domain)

I worked here for a few months several years ago, and Im shocked Dr Roy is still in business. I left completely depressed that any animals (and their people) have to come here for care. EVERY pet deserves better than this. The staff are friendly but Dr Roy lacks any compassion for animals and people alike. I truly believe he does this for the money and nothing else. Ask to see the "boarding facilities" ahead of time - its literally a dark, depressing windowless room with cages so the dogs dont even see daylight. Im still trying to forget some of the awful memories I have from there. If you dont believe reviews, I beg you to go meet him and tour the facilities ahead of time, I guarantee you will see what the negative reviews are saying. The fact that there are any positive reviews of this place makes me not trust the internet at all.

I started taking my dog to Ambassador when I moved back to this area based on a recommendation from my mother, who has been to a few vets in the area and really prefers Ambassador. They are professional and kind to both me and my "baby". I like the way Dr. Roy provides you with the information and lets you make a decision, rather than being pushy, and Ive never felt like hes recommending a course of action just for the money (e.g. "I think this lump is fine, and if it was my dog Id just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesnt start growing. But if youre losing sleep over it I can remove it. Its your call"). He seems to care about the health of the animals under his care. The facilities arent fancy and shiny, but its clean and functional, which is what matters.

This vet center was TERRIBLE. I initially felt somewhat ok about the actual service while still feeling that the staff was unfriendly. However, I have since been told that some of the vaccines the vet insisted on would not have been given by a reputable veterinarian. Additionally, the vet was reluctant to give the cat a test I wanted, insisting instead on the vaccines that turned out to be useless/potentially harmful. The only reason this vet is in business is that there are practically no others in this area. They are ridiculously incompetent over the phone - I had to explain my request to three different people before they would do anything to help me.

I wish I would have seen these reviews before I went to this place. My cat was dying (heart failure), and I went to them for help. I did not have a regular vet in town yet, and I was at my wits end. The process was AWFUL in ways I cannot describe. The vet never even asked her name and spent all his time talking about prices and the disposal of the body. It was traumatic. I could have overlooked the dinginess of the place if they had treated my cat with compassion. They just shaved her, pricked her, and told me the invoice was up front whenever I was ready to pay. Seriously.
