I am not one to usually post reviews of businesses, however, in the past week we have had such a GREAT experience with our vet at River Road Veterinary Hospital that I felt I just had to! We switched over to this vet just a few months ago after some great referrals from friends and we are very thankful we did! Over the past few weeks our 2 year old pug had become very ill with what we originally thought was just a UTI. Unfortunately, it turned out to be upwards of 30 kidney stones that were blocking her urethra so she was unable to pee :( Dr. George and his staff have been nothing short of amazing. Someone from their staff called every day to check and see how she was doing and as the issue seemed to not be getting any better.. they had us bring her back in. She was brought in for emergency surgery and is luckily doing great! As a pet owner, you can expect that if something goes wrong with your pet you will have a hefty bill and although this still rings true, they have made an effort through all of this to try to keep the costs down and have been very upfront about everything. Since we started coming here..everyone has always been SO helpful, thorough and honest. This is something I have never experienced before at any of the previous vets we have been to over the years. They are always upfront with treatment plans and each appointment will print up a bill for you to look over before they even begin. I love this because you are never shocked when you go to check out. In a world where customer service standards are sub par, River Road Vet. is superb! Not to mention that the building is modern and absolutely immaculate! I have the nothing but the utmost respect for Dr. George and his staff! I would strongly encourage anyone to give them a try!!!

I second all the positive comments that have already been written, and I would like to respond to Criss "review of new vet hospital". As a health professional myself, I am confident in making diagnoses in my own area of expertise, but indicators of health vs. disease for pets and people do not necessarily equate. I want my pets to be reexamined before any medications (including vaccines) are administered if enough time has elapsed between appointments for some other medical condition to have developed of which I may be unaware. Otherwise, an existing problem might be made worse and/or another problem might develop, and without current stats, the cause and effect would be more difficult to determine. In my view, River Road Veterinary Hospital is a model for knowledgeable, conscientious, compassionate care with state-of-the-art facilities. Drs. Tracy and George Fountas are outstanding practitioners who have cultivated an excellent staff and referral network and I appreciate the peace of mind that gives me in caring for the two canine members of my family.

Ive been bringing my dogs to RRVH since they first opened. The level of care that goes into each visit and each patient is amazing. My boys have been there for routine checkups and everything ranging from allergy issues to minor surgeries. On each occasion, they are professional, thorough and genuinely concerned that my pups are receiving the best quality of care. The staff have also been helpful. My schedule makes it difficult to plan things in advance, but the reception staff will be patient and call when appointments are available. After each visit, we always receive a follow up call to see how the boys are doing. If there are any questions, the staff are able to help see the issue through to my satisfaction. This is the small touch that you wont receive anywhere else. The best things I can say about RRVH is that I have confidence that my boys will receive the BEST quality and care. Vet visits are never fun, but peace of mind is so important when you know youre getting the best treatment for your pet.

I have a puggle named Gus and a bichon poodle mix named Wally. We see Dr. George Fountas at River Road Veterinary Hospital. The Dr. and the staff are all really friendly and informative. They are professional and I feel confident in knowing that my dogs are getting the best care.I have had to bring them in for an ear infection, tic bite testing, rash, fatty deposit biopsy, an infected bug bite and regular shots and check ups. Each time my dogs are treated, I leave with a care plan and medication (if needed), and all gets healed. Oh, and they follow up with you! Yes they cost a little more than other vets, but you get what you pay for. There are no surprises, they go over everything with you before so you know what is happening and how much it costs. I feel good about supporting a family own and operated local business.

My dog lost his tags off his collar. I went to the Township they charge 50cents to replace. I went to River Road for the replacement Rabies tag and they charged $5!!! Something not quite right about that.... I am sure the replacement tags are not that expensive. I also dont like how they try to get you to buy medicines like heartworm from them. I told them I was buying from 1800Pet Meds and they matched the price - so if they can do that why are they charging so much in the first place. Happy enough with the vet care overall just surprised how it is different staff each time I visit.

Wonderful veterinarians, wonderful support staff. Dont think the person below has ever stepped foot in the hospital because everyone Ive ever sent there is thoroughly impressed with the entire facility and staff. We have had pets for 30+ year, and have been to Bulgers as well as Andover Animal Hospital and this is by far the best of the best. The Doctors know the pets and call for a follow up to see how they are doing....very caring and obviously love what they do. I highly recommend River Road and George & Tracie Fountas and would not trust my beloved pet with anyone else.

We were new to the River Road Vet Hosp and took our dog there. The facility was new and the people were nice but prices were higher than some other vets. Less than 5 months after the initial visit we needed to bring the dog back for Kennel Cough and they were going to charge another office visit for a full exam. They try to get you to have canine check-ups every 6 months instead of the usual one per year. All other vets that we contacted were not charging for the office visit for existing clients and would just charge for the vaccine/med needed. We will not be returning.

I have been bringing my two cats here since I moved to Andover over four years ago. Dr. Tracie is terrific and she or one of her assistants always call a day or two after a sick appointment to see how the patient is doing. They are always available for same-day sick appointments and they are very understanding about one of my cats who is an absolute terror at the vet. They seem to love my other cat though, and who wouldnt? He is always so sweet, even at the vet, and they take very good care of both my kitties.

Very kind & sweet place!!! I had an emergency and my own vet "couldnt make the vet go any faster " to squeeze him in so I called River Road Vets they had no appointments but squeezed him in and still made us feel welcome & did not make us feel like a burden at all. The lady behind the front desk even came out to great him and make him feel comfortable! We received great service & treatment! Will deff be back! Tucker also approves :)
