After being treated abysmally at Beth Israel Deaconess ER in Boston, my symptoms worsened after BI gave me Barium Contrast without stool softener or instructions on timing before a CT; I was sent home without a proper, full workup, as promised by a GI doctor there. Over the next two days, the pain and inability to pass the barium led to my falling into a coma-like sleep, aroused only by severe pain, inability to pass stool, and then terrible dry heaves from the pain. By 4 am, there was rectal bleeding, and Id aspirated into the lungs, with burns in mouth, down the esophagus, and irritation in the bowel. Beverly ER and hospital were top notch in terms of treating a complex medical case with ease, kindness, and a teamwork approach. As it turned out, I was so dehydrated, and glucose so low, I stayed for three days, and gave me many bags with dextrose and electrolytes. I learned so much, and would like to thank the skills of Skip Walker, the Chaplain, with the incredible and empathic work he does, Ann-Marie Ryan, the Patient Advocate, and Andrea and Liz, the incredible nurses, and Lindsay, the respiratory therapist, and the GI specialist, all of whom made the stay particularly helpful, informative and filled with kindness, care and laughter. Above all, thanks to the ladies who make those beautiful prayer shawls (thanks to Skip Walkers organized work) and the medical teamwork that has led to the palliative care that will help stabilize things, and extend while greatly improving the trajectory of my health. Dont lose those pens, Zoey! Beverly Hospital is a rare gem, in this cold world of monstrous and uncaring, large hospitals that tend to now marginalize those with chronic illness in the bigger cities. Were from Newburyport, but would choose Beverly over any of the Boston Hospitals, ANY DAY, even with a rare connective tissue disorder. You saved my life, after Beth Israel hurt me, then dropped the ball.

Let me start off with the terrible receptionists that did not get me into a room, THE NURSES were the ones that had to assist me, not the receptionist. It took an hour and a half to register me because we didnt go up right away when they called me up. I came through by ambulance and should have first priority. I didnt get into a hallway room until 6 hours later. The called everyone else, but myself and other patients started complaining to the nurses that I have been bleeding for six hours straight and needed to get stitches. The receptionist laughed when I was crying after waiting six hours. A nurse ended up redressing me after six hours on me sitting in the dressing that the EMT gave me. The receptionists were rude and catty. I would give the nurses a higher rating because they were going out of my way to help me out after other patients and families were complaining about the nurses not waiting on me. The receptionist at the Friday August 26th 4-10 shift or however long need to be fired because I came through an ambulance and wasnt waited on until 6 hours later. Its ridiculous. I am not coming back to this hospital ever again. Its a shame because I was born here and expected better service.

I am very impressed with this hospital. I had a stress test for my baby when I was overdue, and one when I was sick and they screened for complications, a procedure to move along the birth, which helped me avoid being induced the following day. I later delivered at this hospital and wont be going anywhere else with future additions. The staff had impressive bed side manner, made you feel at home, respected all requests, thoroughly explained all procedures, I worked with doctors, midwives, and nurses and I was amazed by how well they supported one another (no stepping on toes or egos). We happened to pop at a time when they were absolutely swamped at the hospital and not once did we feel like they werent available to help, the maternity staff had hustle. I could seriously go on and on, but bottom line it was fantastic and both my husband and I loved having them welcome our little into the world.

Beverly hospital is up and coming. The staff on each floor is great overall, I personally believe that for every shift in any hospital there has to be that surly, "needs to retire" nurse that teaches us patience and tolerance even as we are on pain meds and an IV ;) The nurses and therapists are fantastic, especially on J2. The NICU and nurses that work in the NICU as well as the nursery go above and beyond daily and are truly unsung heroes. The OT there knows his stuff and works on every floor which only showcases his vast experience and knowledge. You can even find him doing carseat fittings in the nursery and educating parents in the NICU. This hospital is clean and though you may have to wait in the ER awhile, thats any ER everywhere so if you arent dying or holding your amputated limb, practice your patience and be thankful your arm is still attached to your body.

Terrible management, i had to spend hours on the phone trying to pay a bill. Paid my bill through insurance they couldnt find the check the insurance company sent them, called several times they said they fixed it but it never got resolved. They sent a debt collector after me. i paid on time and everything cleared through the insurance but Beverly hospital couldnt figure it out, that being said the staff in the ER and the doctor and nurses we excellent the negative review is towards the accounting and billing department. paying a bill shouldnt be this difficult its incredibly frustrating and a huge wast of my time.

I gave birth to my daughter at Beverly Hospital and had the best experience. In L&D I was able to labor in the whirlpool tub for as long as I wished. The nurses were wonderful and supportive and I was able to hold my newborn daughter for a very long time before they took her for a short time to do her measurements and gave her right back. Maternity was also great. The nurses were wonderful and the room was comfortable. The food is pretty good and they even offer a free special celebratory dinner for mom and dad with a special menu and fancier settings. My experience couldnt have been better!

I witnessed awful behavior while I was in the ER waiting room. The nurses were horribly rude and had terrible attitudes. I witnessed them watch a man struggling to get in the bathroom without helping him at all. Later a nurse greeted them same man in a horrible way, and dragged his bad leg across the floor because of her carelessness. Your job is to help people, a smile on your face should be a necessity. Im very disappointed with what I saw and with the lack of a good environment.

Not my experience but was visiting family. Most of the staff seemed nice enough. They all spoke as if they were reading from a script, some more enthusiastically then others. The discharging nurse literally read from a script at the rate of a 4th grader and said um .....at the very least 675 times and actually answered a question maybe once. Im giving this place 3 stars because the individual who was actually being treated seemed quite happy with his experience here.

My roommate was is the ER for 10 HOURS with her foot gushing blood because she had cut it open. It took literally 8 hours for them to finally see us, and 2 hours to fix her foot. First of all, the operation should have taken 30 mins at most. Second, they should not have left her there bleeding for 8 hours!!!!! And these people were taking patients that were there for a SHORTER time than us, and seeing them first!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL.
