Sachem was referred to me by Brockton Hospital I only needed a week for respite care for my Dad who has Parkinson, Alzheimers and bladder cancer.Made an appointment to see the facility before we brought him there. Arrived got buzzed in no one was told we were coming so had to wait for someone to show us around. Everyone seemed to be nice met a couple nurses they were friendly felt good about leaving him under their care.Next day when I arrived there was no one their to greet us. You get buzzed in then your on your own to figure out where to go. We got pointed to the room he was staying in. Got him in bed on our own had him all settled then was greeted by a nurse who explained they where in between shifts. The nurse on second shift came in and she was very nice explained to her my dad is a fall risk went through stuff about him felt comfortable he was under her care. I got a phone call from a couple staff member OT and PT they asked about his base line explained he cant do much without assistance and is a fall risk someone needs to walk behind him when he is walking told at least six people from admisssions to nurses and specialist he was a fall risk! few days later got a phone call he fell nurse was unsure how just explained he fell from going to dining area to his room. Spoke to director of nursing she only got he fell trying to sit in a chair by himself he had no alarm on him from the start even though they were told he was a fall risk. he had no bracelet to identify who he was. So how do they know he is who he is when medication is dispensed. They put an alarm on him after the fall but when i went to pick him up he had no alarm on him. Some of the staff (which were the ones we meet the first day that were pleasant that day) seemed annoyed when they had to do more for him when he had a treatment done for the cancer. When I picked him up had him almost out the door before anyone came to ask if I wanted his paperwork! I paid out of pocket for them to take care of my Dad and it was a huge disappointment that this facility was not very attentive to the patient or the family. My Dad will not be going back there!

To the staff at Sachem Center for Health & Rehab: Thanks to all of you who provided excellent care to our mother and grandmother Lena McNeil. My husband and I felt compelled to write this letter to let all those that supported Lena know how much it meant to us. The level of care of superb and we truly feel she could not have been in a better facility. We want to especially thank the personnel in both the Elmwood and Sachem sections of the nursing home. She received care and compassion from all that attended to her needs. We also want to commend the activities group who provided her social stimulation. Lena herself, often talked about how well she was treated and how hard caretakers worked. We know she enjoyed her time at Sachem. It is due to those who were very thoughtful and generous in carrying out their duties. She so appreciated that gracious kindness that was provided during her stay. Lena has shown so many how to live with joy, dignity and love. We will miss her forever. Thanks to all, The Family of Lena

"I was actually surprised that Sachem Center was a rehab facility. The care has been above and beyond what I expected. Nursing have been very good, and their experience is obvious. The rehab team worked well together to attain the goals they set for me. The kitchen was also very accommodating to meet my individual needs." -Joan Boyle
