Not helpful at all First im in so much pain went to the emergency room with abdominal pain the doctor said i need an ultra sound asap . So i called the next day to schedule the ultra sound she said i can only give you an appt a month from now .. im telling her i cant have any pain medicine cause my allergies but her respond is sorry but nothing i can do for you ... And visual services i have an appointement at 2:30pm im in my way there at 2pm when i received a call from them telling me the doctor doesnt have what you need can we reschdule you for an other appointement i said ok So i reschedule for the week after i went there she gave me the first pair contact lenses to try and see how they fit very uncomfortable . The doctor look at them im telling him very uncomfortable he said ok try another pair i went to her again to try the next pair my eyes are getting so itchy cant even put lenses on , she was using her computer and looked at me like i dont know how to put them on , she took the lenses from my hands without cleaning her hand or anything trying to help me put them on " i was so disgusted im not gonna put the lenses in my eyes after she touched them with her uncleaned hands " i took the lenses clean it try to put it in my red itchy eye and she took it again from my hands with her dirty hands . Whatever i put it on i found out she gave me the wrong size she said its ok let the doctor see it . He did looked at it and sent me back to her . i choosed to go with another lenses that i tried a month ago to see the difference so i asked her if i can try it again before i order my own package . She looked at me like i want a free pair lenses and said no i cant we order you one if you like too i said thanks and left the office so disgusted " when it says a demo in the lense its not something that i can wear and i throw the other pairs next to her " But what irritate me is when she touched my lenses after she was using her computer Service is so awful . I ve been with harvard vanguard for 9years So disappointed ...

I have had bad experiences with Harvard Vanguard in both the internal medicine (primary care) & visual services departments. I first saw Dr. Slavsky about a year ago for a routine physical. She systematically ignored all of my concerns and made insensitive comments like, "You are trying to lose weight, right?" even though I am well within the normal weight/BMI/etc range. Next, I saw Dr. Tierney for an optometry appointment. The appointment itself went well - he was professional, comprehensive, and listened. I needed to get follow up diagnostic tests off facility and when those results were faxed to him, Dr. Tierney was supposed to follow up. After two months of radio silence, I begin practically phone stalking him, but I cannot get a hold of him. The first time, I was told the results were lost. After that, no explanation. I am still waiting to hear back (and calling regularly). Lastly, I called in February to set up a May appointment with a different PCP who I knew was popular. I gave it so much advanced notice specifically to ensure I could see her. They set up the appointment, say everything is fine, until a few days before (today) when they confirm my appointment WITH THE WRONG DOCTOR (Dr. Slavsky of second paragraph fame). When I called to rectify this, they said the doctor I would like to see stopped accepting new patients in NOVEMBER. This may have been helpful information in, say, February, when I made the appointment. I asked to be transferred to someone I could file a complaint with about the entire facility. She suggested I LOOK AT THE WEBSITE. I did and I called, but they only have ONE person who can take complaints and shes on vacation. Hence, the rogue Yelp review. I have also experienced Harvard Vanguard attempting to make unnecessary referrals. Because everything is done in-house, they profit off of you making extra appointments. Its a shame, because Harvard Vanguard is so convenient, but I have decided that the system is messed up, not just a few individual doctors.

I can’t speak to their medical expertise as I’m not a doctor, but as far as I could tell theyre medically competent. There were several annoyances regarding bedside manner however that have made me decide not to return. Before the doctor came in, a nurse asked me the usual questions about my medical history. After that, the doctor came in, and asked me the same series of questions. What was the point of that? When the doctor entered the room, so did another person who never introduced himself to me. He sat at the computer and entered data while the doctor talked to me. That also seemed unnecessary, and it was weird to have someone else in the room while I’m talking to a doctor without even being told why he was there. I showed up to the lab, fasting as requested for a blood test at the appointed time, and they didn’t have the right information from the doctor on what test to give. The staff there was extremely apologetic, but I waited for an hour just to get my blood drawn. After the blood test, I was never contacted by my doctor with the results. I checked for the results myself on their website, and fortunately they were there. I just looked at the numbers myself, and compared them to normal ranges that I found on the web. I had another test, and again wasn’t contacted with the results. It wasnt the type of test thats posted online either. I was already nervous about the whole situation (as I would assume many people are when awaiting medical test results), and waiting around not knowing was not a good feeling. I finally sent in a note asking for the results, and a nurse got back to me quickly with the results. The person who checked me in at the front desk was nice.

Im doubtful that reviews are much use when it comes to finding a restaurant, and they are probably useless when it comes to finding healthcare, but I will say that with the small exception of the Pharmacy here, Ive had 8 years of great experiences here. Staff is friendly, wait times are reasonable, the after hours care for our infant was fantastic. All of the doctors Ive seen have been very calm, offering good advice and seem aware of the dangers of false positives and over-prescribing drugs. When Ive caught a rare glimpse of the culture of the place, it seems to be positive. What more could you ask for?

Ive been a patient with this practice for almost a decade for primary and OBGYN care. Ive had excellent care in all departments and the convenince of so many specialties in one office building is great! Including the very inexpensive pharmacy. Ive recommended the care here to others. Having the after-hours phone nurse available is very helpful for advice instead of wasting time at an urgent care facility.

I only have had good experiences with all their staff. Nurses are very kind, their system works great and doctors are very professional. I would recommend this place to everyone (the one in Somerville t least).
