I took my dog to Dixboro Medical & Dental center today 3/21/12 for surgery and would NOT recommend this vet to anyone. Dr. Ben Colmery refused to listen to acknowledge what care I wanted for my dog. He said that she probably would die, so “in his opinion” he did not think it would be fair to give her a chance with surgery. I do NOT feel that Dr. Colmery had my dog’s best interest in mind. He is refusing to help her and insisted on putting her down. There are So many specialists for pets as well as people, I do not understand how or Why a vet (in business to help animals) would simply let them die. That is NOT the easy thing to do. I share my life with my dog, my son loves his dog and we do not want her dead, that is why we chose vet care. As a doggy “mother” and a “human” mother, I would NEVER accept a doctor suggesting that I kill my son instead of getting him medical treatment. SHAME on you Dr. Colmery!!! You should get OUT of the vet practice if you do NOT care about the well being of pets or their owners peace of mind and love of their animals!!

My vet suggested I take my cat to Dixboro Veterinary Dental for what she thought may be stomatitis resulting in infected teeth and my cat not eating. The dentist here diagnosed her with Bartinella instead -- a virus he says often manifests in stomatitis like symptoms. There are no medical journals on this correlation. He pulled a few of her infected teeth and sent us home with medicine. The medicine stopped working after a month. When we called, he said it was likely ANOTHER virus and without seeing her, sent us home with more pills. Those didnt work after a month of trying to get her to eat. When we called, he said she need yet another set of medicine, but still didnt want to see her in the office. My primary vet was furious about his nonchalance and tried calling many times. The vet refused to speak with her. I am now out the $800+ he craved plus the $1400 to have another dentist take care of her (go figure) stomatitis.

We see Dr. Colmery for our Yorkshire Terrier who has had extensive dental problems. I wish someone had told me about him when we got her as a puppy. It would have changed everything. He takes his time talking to us about procedures and follow-up care. He is terrifically knowledgeable. He helped us when it was obvious that our regular vet (who was a great vet) did not have the knowledge base to deal with dental complexity and recommended us to Dr. Colmery. If you have a small dog, I recommend seeing Dr. Colmery from the start. I wish I had. My next Yorkie will go to him from the very beginning and well be able to sidestep future dental problems. I couldnt recommend him more highly.

Dr. Sell and her staff are amazing! Not only is the care great, but she does not try to upsell you on every little thing like other vets in the area. Its refreshing to find a vet to who cares for your animals like she does. We have been going there for over 5 years and have three dogs and two cats so weve had plenty of experience with them. Were just sad that we had to move and cant find a vet as good as her!

Dr. Colmery has always done an excellent job with our three dogs. Weve been taking our dogs to Dixboro Veterinary the past few years and have been happy. After we moved to Florida and had some not so great experiences, we decided that we would rather drive our dogs all the way back to Michigan for their routine dental care. Thats a long drive considering we no longer own a home in Michigan!

Our treasured dog Toby was in dire need of dental treatment. We were referred from our family Vet to Dr. Colmery at Dixboro. What an amazing experience for us both. The service from the staff and from Dr. Colmery was the best quality possible. I would give them the highest recommendation.

Highly recommended, we had two older cats with dental issues. Our primary vet gave no hope for having oral surgery due to their age... After their procedures at Dixboro both cats are no longer in pain!

LOVE them! We felt valued and cared about, and prices were extremely fair, which you dont always expect when going to a specialist for your pet. Cant say enough good about them.
