I feel obligated to write a good review here because of all the bad ones I see. I have gone to UHS several times to get my prescriptions filled. It is always quick and professional. In another instance I actually was extremely sick with a bacterial stomach infection. I had let my insurance lapse so I called UHS and they said they could see me immediately. By the time I got there I had lost so much fluid that I could barely stand and my blood pressure was so low I was at risk of passing out and dying. They quickly had me hooked in and transferred me 4 liters of IV fluid. They took a culture to diagnosed my condition properly and gave me antibiotics the same day. I was in the UHS for about 6 hours and the care I received was equal to or better than that of a hospital. I felt safe and taken care of while I was there and they went above and beyond to care for me. My charge for this care was exactly ZERO DOLLARS as I am a grad student here. On a separate occasion a friend of mine caught a staff infection on his face from shaving, I recommended he call UHS. They saw him immediately and gave him proper treatment and got it under control immediately. Again his charge for this was ZERO DOLLARS! I have no idea why the reviews here are so bad. Its not a hospital, its a university health center and they do a very good job.

I go there all the time to get medical advice and preventative treatment. I had one physician who was quite cold, but he was brilliant. He gave me a LOT of helpful information and did a thorough risk assessment based on my family history. I had a dermatologist who was extremely warm and also deeply insightful. Ive seen a physical therapist who was great, a dietician who was also very helpful, my primary care physician is amazing (brilliant with a great sense of humor), and the last time I went to get blood drawn I couldnt even feel the needle go in, thats how skilled the nurse was! Seriously, this place is amazing and every student should take advantage of it as much as possible while they can. Many of the staff are leaders in their respective medical fields and can teach you tons.

There are some very serious issues with the way that some of the medical staff here conducts themselves with regards to their patients and practices. At least one of the doctors obviously helps himself to a LOT of prescriptions, and I have personally witnessed and experienced very unethical behavior coming from their so-called professionals. Most students I know refuse to seek treatment at UHS due to their experiences regardless of any medical needs, myself now included after several recent encounters with some of the doctors there. The only group in the entire building that seemed decent to me was the Physical Therapy office. The staff and therapists there were very nice, but too little too late. If you want any kind of legitimate medical care, STAY AWAY FROM UHS!

Free service for students. Only would recommend going for basic medical needs such as STD testing, labs/cultures. Wait periods are very long and not the best environment to be in since the waiting area can get packed, exposing oneself to a lot of germs and potentially people sneezing/coughing on you. Have been misdiagnosed here before, as so have others (which honestly can happen at any healthcare facility). I believe the staff does try their best to help students the best they can. If you have a complicated or chronic health condition, this is not the place to seek care for those needs. However if u need a simple test test/procedure done you may find this place a bit more useful.

The people who book appointments on the phone are the rudest receptionists ever. They have no patience to explain things to you, and when you ask for an explanation, they act as though you have a brain tumour and therefore cannot think for yourself. They therefore raise their voices, as though that would remedy the "situation". This is another clear instance of why the government ought to have NOTHING to do with our lives: when there is no profit margin to worry about, and it is next to impossible to fire staff, there is no incentive to provide good service.

All of my experiences at UHS, including with the physicians, the imaging staff, and most especially the pharmacy have been outstanding. I am a university staff member and could go anywhere for my health care and medications, but this is where I like to go. Folks here really care about me.

The service is terrible. Youre never attended at the time scheduled, buy if you are late you will lose your appointment (even with a very good reason), try put people in front of you in line, even when you are waiting in the room. Avoid if you can.

They are always full and they have a true dire lack of mental health resources. As a student, I would recommend you find a provider somewhere in the area.

They refused to see me because Im not a student or faculty, even though I had a very obvious severe allergy that was causing my face to swell.

If I need to wait 2 weeks for a ten minute time slot with a doctor, they might as well not provide medical care at all.

Free for students, it is the best option available if you are strapped for cash and need to see the doctor.

Unless you are dying, they will give you no medication and will allow you to suffer on.
