I went to RO Pediatrics for around 3 years after my first son is born. I never had any major medical issues but a few of my friends did and they left the practice because the doctors are not thorough and rush you through appointments. I wanted to make my own decisions so stayed there until after my second son was born and I started getting frustrated with their disregard for questions. Also they make you wait at least 20 to 30 minutes each appointment, it is ridiculous. I switched to Merillwood and it is SO much better. They actually talk to you about the development of your child and when they are sick they do testing to ensure whether it is bacterial or viral and check their oxegyn (none of which was EVER done at RO Peds and my son was wheezing and not getting enough oxegyn). I encourage parents that are unhappy here to try another doctor - it is much different elsewhere.

My first daughter was a patient here. She would scream and scream- all day and all night. I addressed this with my doctors here at Royal Oak Pediatrics and they said it was "normal". I asked about switching formula and they said NOT to... I knew there was something wrong and they wouldnt do anything besides look at her and say she was fine. No testing was ever done, we were never referred to a specialist. I listened to these doctors and kept giving her milk and dairy based formula for years. It turns out she has a DAIRY ALLERGY. It wasnt until I switched to another provider that I found out what was the real problem. My guess is because she had Medicaid at the time, and providers arent compensated as much for Medicaid patients. Being that, they quickly run you in and out without actually addressing any real problems or concerns.

Dr Mannisto is competent, friendly, willing to spend time answering questions. I have not met Dr. Folcik but have heard good things. Dr. Shah seemed quick to prescribe antibiotics, without explaining why they were necessary. Several of the nurses are great with kids. The front office staff is lacking in customer service skills. The office is poor at time management, such that we never get out of there in under an hour and a half, even for well-baby visits. The only reason we have stayed with them thus far is that we like Dr. Mannisto.

After meeting Dr. Mannisto, we knew we wanted to make Royal Oak Pediatrics our sons new "home," at least as far as doctors offices go. She is so patient and will stay in an appointment for as long as it takes to answer all your questions and concerns. I gave the office four stars because it is a little dingy and some of the furniture and equipment is past its prime. That being said, as long as the care is cutting edge (which it is), we can look past the aesthetic deficiencies.

Dr. Folcik is wonderful - shes thorough, kind, and dedicated to patients best interests! We do not care for Dr. Dodge - he is rather abrupt and not very compassionate. We havent seen Drs. Mannisto or Shah. The support staff is nothing exceptional, and the front desk/referral coordinator make you feel like youre an incredible inconvenience. The office aesthetics are not great - decor is very dated. But, the kids rooms are cute.

I love this doctors office. We are always seen in a timely fashion and out of there within a hour. They are extremely organized . The male doctor has a nasty attitude but overall we have a great experience each time. The front desk staff are super awesome and always professional. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome . I commute from Detroit to here and will never change my pediatrician

This doctors office is wonderful. Friendly staff and incredible doctors. There are multiple pediatricians in the office Ive seen all, all wonderful. I am that crazy mom who takes her son in for anything and everything and they have never made me feel bad for visiting too often. They are as well affiliated with beaumont.

This office is great but the Dr Johnson lady has mis diagnosed me the last 3 times I visited now and acted as though she didnt have time for me and barely answered my questions. I had Impetigo as clear as day and I wasnt prescribed an antibiotic and now its all over my arm. All other doctors have been great.

I grew up going to Royal Oak Peds when it was Wake Clinic on Main street, I grew up with Dr, Wake, Dr Sheriden, Dr Dodge, and Dr Shaw as my ped drs , . I took my daughter there, and now I am taking 2 more of my children there, although the once he leaves I dont think I will remain there.
