I was in the youth program 5 years ago when I was 16. During my stay the staff was really nice and caring, especially the nurses. Its a very controlled environment in many ways. There not afraid to put someone in solitary confinement or call security. I watched kids literally get swarmed by security. Granted they were completely insane breaking stuff lol. Also it felt more like kindergarten then a therpy group. We mainly just talked about why we were sad but saw very little feedback on how to make it better (besides self evaluation). I felt as if they were afraid to tell some of the kids they were just wrong and being stupid. I get being nice but sometimes people need someone whos blunt and doesnt hold back. After all you wont get better unless someone points out your flaws. All in all, I did enjoy my time there. But you really truly have to want to change for this to help. Like anywhere, If you go here expecting someone else to magically fix your problems your honesty retarded and you will never see any results. I know i didnt and thats why it didnt help me but that would be the case anywhere. And if your parent I know you already know this but most kids dont truly want help even if they say they do. Most of the time there just saying that to get you off there back lol and Ps. If your thinking of sending your daughter here I would seriously reconsider!! coming from a guy who went here Its like shooting fish in a barrel but your using a shotgun with a laser sight. Nothings easier then a girl with issues. Dont worry i wasnt that type of guy but i saw many that were so be careful maybe its different now but i doubt human tendency changes that quick. Hope this was helpful :)

I went to this clinic to get a needs assessment. The man I met with was apparently a therapist. He was probably one of the most arrogant, insensitive, non empathetic and rude individuals I have ever met in my life. I was somewhat appalled by the way he spoke with me and my guardian, and some of the things he said to me. He did not care about what I had to say and how I was feeling. The treatment option him and a doctor (which he spoke for about 3 minutes with behind the scenes after meeting with me for over an hour) decided on had nothing to address and treat my specific mental health problems. I felt like he had already decided my treatment before I even walked in the office. He was extremely pushy about this particular treatment plan, almost as if he is paid on commission. It felt like a sales pitch, except he gave us little to no detail about how the treatment would be beneficial for me. He was unable to answer most of our questions and concerns we had. He basically told me that this was the only option I had. Needless to say, I walked out of this appointment feeling worse than I did walking into it. I would encourage others to do more research before going to this clinic. There are better more qualified places out there that actually put the needs of their patients first.

run for your life - they didnt use any typical therapy protocols used by the mainstream mental health organizations - communications horrific - they left serious messages that should be left for a live phone call .. since then I have had my daughters therapists and other professionals not affliated with prairie care say they would never send or refer a relative or child to their program

I went here for treatment about a year ago now and literally the only good part about it was the art teacher, I have anxiety ocd and this place was so generalized you could barely get any help for problems you had. Their treatment plan seems to be "stay here for a few weeks then go back to school" with nothing more than a few breathing exercises while your there. Would not reccomend
