It really depends on which clinic you go to as to what kind of care you get. I feel their concern over money is paramount over patient care. I have gone to the Pulmonology clinic where I saw a doctor who did not give me 5 minutes of her time. Came in prescribed a sleep study and left. When I made an appointment for a follow up to tell me what the sleep study results were I saw a nurse and never saw the doctor again. I went to a family practice clinic where I was scolded by a doctor who told me I was being unreasonable for coming in with a knee problem. She said xrays were expensive. So I didnt have one. Went to another clinic-my doctor sent me to an ortho doctor. I had a tear in my meniscus and pretty bad arthritis in both knees. I got a cortisone shot in my knee and the pain was gone. On the other hand I have gone to neurology and had one of the best doctors I have ever seen. In Emergency room again it depends on the doctor. I fell down the stairs. My toe hurt. He looked at my toe and said I was fine, normal. So after a month of pain in my toe, went to the ortho doctor. I had a broken little toe on my right foot. One xray and I might not have had to suffer so long. I have been seen the headache clinic. They were very nice. I went there for rheumatology and Dr Steele was very good. I am now going to the PT dept. I have an issue there. I called customer service. I hope they get back to me. So I guess that the best thing to do is try somehow to check out what doctor you go to or what department. If they are rude to you at the front desk, that is a bad sign. If you go to a doctor who tells you xrays are too expensive-run to the nearest doctor not affiliated. I still go to Park Nicollet. I know there are some good doctors and some bad. Some with empathy and some with none. It is hard when you are sick to have to sort the wheat from the chaff, but if you get chaff, try to find wheat wherever it is.

Great nursing staff in the travel clinic, who provided me with excellent care when giving shots and prescribing travel medications. However, cost transparency at this clinic is confusing and poorly serviced. While they make you sign a consent form stating that you are responsible for all costs (even if your insurance company does not pay), they do not tell you that the counseling provided with the vaccinations/prescription is not billed as preventative care; instead, it is billed as diagnostic care. While I normally wouldnt mind how the care is coded, I do mind that since it was not coded as preventative, my insurance company would not cover this care. While I am by no means an expert in medical billing/coding, it does not make sense that this counseling (which was little more than reading the label of the prescription, and telling me that my arm would be sore from the vaccination) should be coded as diagnostic care. As a result of this nuance in coding, I was billed an extra $81 that I had to pay out of pocket. My advice? Check your insurance and provider coding before your visit (I suppose thats always good advice), and steer clear of this clinic for travel care -- I would seek out Walgreens or CVS minute clinic. I just called both my insurance company and these providers, and their travel care is fully covered.

I had an eye surgery in 2005. I was told I had an 99% chance and that I shouldnt worry about anything. two weeks after my surgey I went back for post surgery check. I told my doctor (W. Keith Engel) that I been seeing double- 75% of the time. He said it would be fine and that I shouldnt worry. months went by before I made another appointment because he never took anything I said seriously. It was as if I knew nothing about my eyes and how I see.He acted like he was the almightly one and only he knew what was going on with my eyes and that i shouldnt bug him with my none sense because he had done a great job on the surgery.WELL news flash dr.Engel you mess up on eye and you want to close your eyes and pretend like everything is ok but everything is not ok! My eye is NOT ok and theres nothing you or any other doctor can do to...to fix it now!!!! Im screwed for life an yet you want to act like you did nothing wrong and its somehow my FAULT that my eye is screwed. Its really not my fault how am i supposted to know that i had a disease in my eye that YOU over look huh.... dr. Engel?

Ive been to Park Nicollet in St Louis Park and at Carlson Parkway, and the only positive experience Ive had was at the eye clinic in SLP; I think the doctors name was Dr. Bakken (I highly recommend him, this review is not about him). Ive had at least 4-5 other visits and most of the time my questions were responded to very rudely and dismissive. The last time I went in, it was a 20 minute consultation with a NP, who shrugged her shoulders when I asked a question and simply couldnt be bothered to investigate my problem or give any medical advice whatsoever. I was charged $291 for that. Highly, highly disappointed, as I thought PN was supposed to be one of the better healthcare providers in the area. The charges are always inflated and the services are sub-par. Avoid! (Except Dr. Bakken, who was great, if youre looking for an eye doctor.)

I was referred to this ENT clinic when I visited urgent care. Most of the receptionists are rude, except for one named Karrie (Im not sure if thats how her name is spelled), who was surprisingly nice. I called one day after the nurse had left, and I had some general questions for the receptionist who did nothing but remind me that the clinic was closing, and that she had to go. I feel like the nurses arent very friendly, but the audiologists that Ive dealt with are fairly nice. Dr. Richard Wemer is the ENT doctor that Ive been seeing, but I feel like I dont see much of him when I go in. I usually have to wait about 20 minutes after my tests just to get about 5 minutes of his time. This place is too busy, and I dont feel like I get the one-on-one time that I feel patients should.

I was covered in rashes and went to the minute clinic which then recommended me to the Park Nicollet Urgent Care. They do have the triage system like any other place. The nurses were good and friendly and cared more about my condition. The doctor however was horrible I wish i remembered her name. I told her I might have allergies from changing detergents, but she prescribed me some scabies medicine. When I asked what should i do about my itching, she said if it is scabies it migh go away after 4 weeks. Then she walked away while I was still trying to find out what if it wasnt scabies. I am still itching all over and paid a lot of money for a 2 minute consultation in which she didnt even look at my rash. I am very frustrated and angry at the situation.
