I was recently a patient at this practice and the experience was a nightmare. 1. The system for contacting your doctor/working with the healthcare team was fragmented and inconsistent. for example various people would contact you to set up appointments or ask questions about your care, and after answering their questions someone else that works within the clinic (that has access to the same information) would call and ask you the same questions all over again saying they didnt realize youd been contacted. It was also hard to speak with your doctor directly unless you were onsite, in fact their was a telephone game that would happen... different nurses would have to get a hold of your doctor and then contact you when they were able with answers to your questions. Very long and slow process. 2. You have to go to another location for ultra sounds and various procedures, this is very inconvenient and frustrating if your pregnant, because the places they refer you to do not have free parking and are quite a distance from the parking lot since they are U of M clinics (nightmare) The clinics your referred to also have student training nurses that are helping (at one point one was left with me unsupervised so the nurse could smoke a cigarette! The unsupervised student nurse was recording information in the wrong patient file, and gave me inaccurate information about a procedure she told me I would be receiving, turns out it was the wrong procedure.) 3. When I expressed my concerns and complained to the head of the clinic about my experience at her practice, and at the places I was referred to she was rude, hostile and irritated with my concerns continually reiterating that they deal with thousands of patients on a daily basis. As if to say we made mistakes but so what because your just one of thousands. After the experience I had with this clinic I not only left the clinic but I left the entire Fairview Network.

I had a doc there for years and was happy with her. She left and I met with a new doc, telling her I was looking for a new, ongoing doc. She was an hour late for first appt. of the day. I waiting in a freezing room in a paper gown. She walked in and sat at computer and began typing. Never apologized for wasting an hour of my time. Spent about 10 minutes with me, rushed me out, wouldnt let me talk about anything.. The next year, I tried another doc. Same story about looking for a relationshio with a doc. Same 10 minutes and rushed out. One of my concerns is that I get short of breath. As she was rushing out of the room, she said maybe I have congestive heart failure (way too young for that.) I was disgusted, but after worrying about it for a month, I went for the heart test she had referred. $3000 test. The technician there asked if I had ever been tested for asthma, which would have been a logical first step. My heart is fine. Cost me and the insurer a lot of money because of a stupid doctor. Next year, doc #3. She disapproved of all the things the two previous docs had done. Also rushed me out after a 15 minutes of nothing. Took my BP, measured 200/120 -- MUCH higher that my usual abnormally low BP. I was freaked, they said no big deal. I went out a bought a BP moniotr, which I use at home to measure my very low normal BP. This one later scolded me in an email for seeing too many docs. If I just saw the same person, I would have better results. Duh! I felt that all three of them did not listen to me, had no interest in serving me, and wasted my time. I will never go to this clinic again.

Years ago when I moved to the UpTown area I realized that sooner or later I would need to see a doctor for a checkup as it had been some time since my last. Being in a new city with so many healthcare systems from which to choose I solicited the advice of a healthcare professional friend of mine who suggested I look into seeing one of a few choices of physicians at the Fairview UpTown Clinic. I rolled the dice and within a week was in the exam room of a doctor who, by the end of my appointment with him, I knew without reservation I made the right choice. As the years passed my beloved and trusted doc eventually moved on to a different health clinic and I found myself again without a primary. Considering the exceptional quality of care and professionalism I received thus far at this particular clinic I opted to seek out another physician who had established himself with Fairview UpTown and was immediately satisfied that I had again found a great provider. To this day I still see this physician for my healthcare needs but have learned to appreciate the fact that it is not only his contribution of excellence in the field of medicine resulting in my continued satisfaction but rather the combined skill and professionalism of all that work for the Fairview Health System. I know I sound as if Im a paid spokesman for this healthcare network but I truly believe that being lucky enough to have a healthcare team one can trust without any reservation is worth its weight in gold, and Fairview UpTown Clinic is exactly that.

I went there for annual physical. They asked me if I have any question or problem that I have. I told them that I had cold but it got better, I had stress but due to certain thing, but other than that there is no health problem. They charged extra office visit in addition to the annual physical. So the free annual physical turned in to what it would be two office visits, and I had to pay out of pocket. When I called and complained, they told me that the medical billing is complex , they can charge whatever they want based on what doctor writes in the note, and there is no way I would know until the visit is done, and the bill knocks your door. First of all the doctor asked me if I had any question, second of all, they did nothing other than saying "good, if you have further concern about stress, schedule another visit". The doctor literally spent less than 5 minutes looking at my eye, throat and ear and telling me to point my finger to my nose. They are literally after money, and I will never go there again.

I went there to get a prescription for insomnia and had to come in for an appointment, which is fine. But then the next time I went in I saw a different doctor so I had to explain everything again and I had to help the doctor to fix the printer because she couldnt figure it out. Months later, when I needed a refill which required authorization, it was denied so I called back to talk to the doctor. The first receptionist told me that the nurse actually authorized a refill and I should just contact the pharmacy again. So I called the pharmacy and they told me "no", it was not authorized. I called back the clinic and got someone else on the phone. Finally I got to talk to a nurse and she told me that I had to come in for a physical as noted by the doctor and that it would be more expensive than the original visits where I checked out 100% fine with no health issues. And she doesnt know how much it actually costs. Very poor experience, I dont think I will go back.
