I have seen Dr. Norman for several years and have always been extremely pleased with him. He did my cataract surgery and was willing to do the second one a week after the first one due to the strong correction I had before the surgery. He is a very caring doctor who takes time to answer questions. He is very thorough in his exam as well. My husband had something in his eye a few years ago and went to another doctor first, who wasnt able to remove it. He got an appointment quickly with Dr. Norman, who was able to remove the object. When I needed laser treatment for secondary cataracts, Dr. Norman gave up some of his lunch time to see me. When my husband had shingles and needed to see an eye doctor right away, he was able to see Dr. Norman the same day he called. I would highly recommend Dr. Norman if you are looking for an ophthalmologist. The staff who work with him are also very nice and helpful.

I had LASIK (with a laser as opposed to a microkerotome (blade)) performed by Dr. Reader using the VISX excimer laser and the iLASIK platform and I could not be happier with the procedure and results. I am better than 20/20 in both eyes now and was at -3.50 and -3.75 before the surgery. Some may think the price is steep, but there are places charging double using the same laser and this is a professional eye clinic in which the Doctors have years of experience and training, not a $495 per eye "Walmart of LASIK." Dr. Reader is very open and honest during the consultation explaining all of the risks and if you are an ideal candidate for the procedure as well. It has been over a year now and I am so used to having great vision that I have to be reminded that I even had horrible vision and dealt with contacts and glasses. I was ecstatic to jump in the lake this summer without contacts to worry about too.

This is the kind of place where they flatter you, tell you how great you are, have a real nice attitude - then not not only charge more than other places upfront, tack on made up fees after the fact. An exam cost $175. Higher than average, but thought it might be worth it. But when I got my bill, they added on another $55 "refraction" fee, which the person at the clinic told me was for the part of the exam where they ask you "1 or 2" and figure out what your vision is. Well, thats just really part of the normal exam, now isnt it? I asked if you could get an eye exam without the "refraction" fee - you cant. So its really a $230 fee. Then if you want contacts, theres an additional fee ($75) and appointment you have to make. At least this time they told me there would be an additional fee. So now were up to $305 for an eye appointment, before buying the contacts.

I went here just the other day and was VERY impressed. The wait/check-in staff was very friendly and my appointment was right on time. The nurse who helped me first was very kind and took care of things while also engaging me in conversation. The ophthalmologist I met with, Dr. Jonathan Engman, was AWESOME. He was courteous, sociable, and extremely knowledgeable about every question I asked. My visit at Southdale Eye Clinic didnt feel like I was just another patient that had to be seen and then quickly rushed out the door. Instead, I felt welcomed and helped with utmost care and respect. I would recommend this clinic, Dr. Engman, and the rest of the staff that took care of me to anyone hoping for an experience similar to mine.

Dr. Kaplan has been my eye Doctor for over thirty years. He is one of the kindest guys I know, and I always feel very comfortable and well attended to at every appointment. I appreciate how he shares the pros and cons of various treatment options in an unbiased way. I am especially thankful for his advice about elective surgeries that were popular, each time I hear from friends complaining about side effects that they didnt realize would limit aspects of their vision. Southdale Eye Clinic has always been friendly, and I value and trust them inherently for my eye care.

I was late by 8 minutes (Yes, 8 - not more not less) and had to wait for almost 1 hour to get called in.... I understand being late is not OK, but having me wait for 1 hour - cmon... After I saw almost 10 people go in front of me, I had to go to the front desk to remind them that I was there in order for them to call me in 5 min... If I didnt mention it - I dont know how long I would have to be there for... The nurse OR the doctor didnt seem to care for the wait at all... NEVER, NEVER, NEVER again...

Always considerate and welcoming service; Dr. Engman and the technician are wonderful and I always feel well cared for; on my last visit, I also sropped into the eye wear department to have my glasses adjusted. The service was excellent and the adjustment was done quickly and effectively. And the older man who assisted me encouraged me to come back anytime if any more adjustments were necessary. I loved that! I felt very much taken care of by a very experienced eye glasses specialist.

Got billed for contact lense eye exam when they already knew what my insurance coverage was and i kept asking them and they didnt advise me that insurance doesnt cover if technician performs eye exam. Technician spend hardly 10min on me and it was a limited eye exam. I was planning to purchase contacts from them but now I do not plan to return to them,. Appointment took 3hours instead of 1 and half hour because they were running late.

I believe the name of the gentleman who helped me was Don. He told me a pair of red glasses looked good on me. I was afraid the color was too bold; Don assured me it wasnt. So I went ahead and got the red glasses. Now I absolutely LOVE them. I get a lot of compliments from other people, even strangers. Before, I didnt want to wear glasses; now I dont want to leave home without them!

This is by far the best eye clinic I have ever been to. The staff is great and my dr, Dr. Norman, is simply the best! Hes so happy to be able to be your doctor. He performed my cataract surgeries and his bedside manner is superb. I was not nervous and it was over with very quickly. I always enjoy going in for my annual visit.

It was a big mistake buying Maui Jim prescription progressive bifocal sunglasses from this place. They substituted a cheaper lens that was not from Maui Jim. Still charging $800. It voided the support from Maui Jim when I went to get new lenses somewhere else. They just blew me off when I stopped in to talk to them about it.

Jonathan H. Engman, M.D. was one of the BEST doctors I have had in 40 years. He was kind, very knowledgeable and considerate. The diagnosis was accurate and my issue was healed in the time frame he quoted. Also, I was treated very well by the entire staff. Thank you Southdale Eye Clinic!
