It has taken me some time to write this review due to the pain of losing my cat of many years recently. As a long time pet owner, I feel compelled to write this. I began at Blue Cross a few years ago and never felt completely comfortable. My cat was skittish and the employees were routinely aggressive and not sympathetic. This past summer, he became ill. Upon examination, the techs were rough, rude, and aggressive with my cat. He became aggressive and lashed out and they blamed this on me. One of the techs scolded me as if I was a child. I cannot imagine all pets come in to this place in a happy mood! He was scared and sick and the staff showed absolutely no compassion for a cat that was clearly suffering. I was even more disappointed by Dr. Debs method of treatment who did the minimum number of tests on my cat. She prescribed a method of treatment for a condition that I have since proven through two other vets was completely misdiagnosed and caused more problems to my cat. If I called with questions, she was unsympathetic and uncaring. After realizing that my cat needed quality care, I switched to another vet. He did a battery of tests and found out that my cat had lymphoma. He even worked with me and a specialist. These two vets went above and beyond and were caring and loving. It was night and day from my experience at Blue Cross. He never loved going to the vet and due to his illness he had his frightened moments when he didnt want to be touched and would want to scratch or hide. However, my new vet and the specialist vet treated me and my cat with dignity. My cat was able to have a pleasant 3 months and then when he became ill again, he was able to die in dignity and peace due to caring and compassionate veterinary care. Thank goodness, I left Blue Cross. I cannot express how hurt and disappointed I am by the treatment Blue Cross subjected my cat to during his illness. I cannot begin to describe how disappointed I felt with my contact with this place and with Dr. Deb. I have never written a bad review like this but I feel compelled to warn others away from this place. If you have a different experience, good for you and I am glad that you have had good care but my experience was absolutely one of the worst in my life. I cannot ever recommend this place.

This clinic is fine for routine shots and basic treatment, but if your pet is sick take them somehwere else. One of our cats was given his vaccines between his shoulder blades by Dr. Deb, and developed injection site carcinoma. They were very surprised at the U of MN vet hospital, where he went for treatment, that a vet who was currently practicing was still giving the shots in the back. It has been recommended for years to inject in the legs, so if cancer developes the leg can be removed, saving the animals life. My beloved cat passed away due to his cancer, it cannot be treated if it is in the spinal column. I do blame Dr. Deb and her outdated practicing for this cats suffering. A few years later our other cat began losing weight and was dehydrated, Dr. Amy diagnosed her as having kidney disease, a go to diagnosis for older cats. The treatment was to feed her a prescription food that is minimal in protein, and was like starving the poor thing. After 6 months of watching our beloved cat decline in health, we brought her to a different vet. The new vets first action was to look down the cats throat and discovered the tumor growing there, something Dr. Amy missed. The cat did not have kidney disease, proven by a test done by the new vet, and the tumor was so big that our tough little cat could only hold on for a month before passing. Dr. Amy wasnt responsible for this cats cancer, but I do wonder about the quality of life she may have had if she had been diagnosed correctly and treated properly. We now have two dogs, and they go to a different vet, no animal of mine will ever go to Blue Cross again.

Ive been taking my pets here for about eight years, and theyve always been great. If your focus on pet care is solely based on budget, this may not be the place for you. But if that is the case, then maybe you should reconsider owning a pet. However, if youre looking for a vet that takes a vested interest in your animals well being, that doesnt do a lot of extra work or order unnecessary tests, try Blue Cross out. My sisters dog had a recurring problem that three different veterinarians attributed to bone cancer in her leg, and were ready to schedule a $3000 surgery to remove her leg. At my urging, she finally brought her dog into Blue Cross. After a half hour and a few blood tests, they determined it was an issue with her thyroid instead. A mere two weeks of thyroid medication changed her sluggish, pained old-acting dog into a bouncing, bounding puppy. Ive dealt with all the doctors here. Theyre all competent, fair and good at what they do. If Im given the choice, I always book with Aimee Meyer. Hands down best vet ever.

Im impressed with the efficiency of the staff at Blue Cross Animal Hospital. That is highly appreciated with a frightened pet. Ive seen three different doctors now. Each was amazingly patient taking the time in examining my "kittens" and especially in answering all my increasingly "crazy cat lady" questions and concerns. I had another highly satisfying experience there this morning. Its too bad the doctors of humans arent generally as patient and compassionate. I have found a good new provider for my cats in Blue Cross Animal Hospital-- and in weighing the consideration of getting a dog again. They obviously know and love animals as all the docs and staff seem to be pet owners as well. They are really "there" with my pets and me when Im there. I truly appreciate the level of service provided us each time Ive been for what has so far been "routine" but very good care. I hope this is helpful for other dedicated pet owners. Since our pets give us so much, they deserve what Ive experienced as excellent care and service.

I have used Blue Cross Animal Hospital since the mid 70s for the care of my pets -- many dogs and cats over the years. Dr Deb and her staff are professional, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. Dr Deb has always provided me with all the options for care and supported my decisions. She diagnosed my young lab with Lymes disease before it was well known and before lab tests were available -- she prescribed the antibiotics and he lived a long and healthy 12 years. She has helped through the end stages of each of my pets lives with sensitivity and care for both me and the pet. She is practical with her recommendations. I have seen the other vets in the practice and have found each of them qualified, caring and sensitive to my pets needs. Their prices seem reasonable and fair. I have used the clinic for both routine and emergency care and in both cases have been completely satisfied. I would recommend BCAH -- doctors and staff -- to anyone looking for a place to take their pets.
