Avoid this veterinary clinic at all costs. Dr. Amos and staff lack respect for clients/patients and compassion for pets. Their primary concern is their own convenience. Most staff either ignore clients, give them false information, treat them in an antagonistic manner, or are overtly rude to them such as the staff member well call "Brenda" who has had multiple complaints against her for very abusive behavior but who is always defended by Dr. Amos, at the expense of the client and pet patient. She even hangs up on clients who are in the process of losing their pets. You notice that I say, "well call her Brenda," because, unlike more reputable and professional veterinarians who have the biographies of the veterinarians and staff members, including the techs, on their websites, there is no information about any staff members, only a very long puff piece about Dr. Amos posted on Nokomis Pet Clinic website. In fact, they dont even state their names when they answer the phones! They are completely unaccountable and that is how Dr. Amos wants it. He is unable to attract competent and compassionate staff members and that is why he is so protective of the staff members he can keep.He recently had another veterinarian working with him who, by all accounts was fabulous, but she is no longer there. I wonder if she felt ashamed to work with the likes of the staff member called "Brenda". If this "Brenda" is working under a technical license, such as a CVM license, her name should be on the website and she should be held accountable for her work and behavior. It really scares to think of her working with my pet. I hope my pet did not have any contact with this individual. I will post updates on the details of why we changed vet clinics near the end so near my pets end of life. The lack of sensitivity with which we were treated with Dr. Amos even arguing with us knowing we thought wed have to put our pet down over his long yearly 10 day vacation is sociopathic. He has no collaborative referrals, only cold advice "thats why there are emergency vet clinics", or Brendas cold suggestion we can call another vet clinic to put our pet down and there are cremation services available. This is for real! She actually said that! I had put my phone on record by then since this conversation was becoming so oddly cold and unprofessional . She then said, "This Conversation is Over" and hung up on me. There are other interactions weve had in our 5-6 years with Dr. Amos some of which demonstrate medically unsound and harmful advice as corroborated by reputable vet clinics and specialists. His medical records are a joke and most vets would be ashamed to send such information to a reputable clinic, but Dr. Amos completely lacks awareness of appropriate behavior for someone charged with the care of a beloved pet. We are currently gathering the data and statements and will continue to add to this post, However, for now avoid this clinic at all costs!!! Dont wait until your pet is 15 years old and you need to talk to your vet about options to be hung up on and treated with overt cruelty by " Brenda" and other staff members who have no ability to connect with clients. After we had to rush to find a new vet at the very time we thought our beloved dog was about to pass, we had to pay for a new set of blood screenings so we could get immediate information since Dr. Amos could not figure out how to attach records, and when he did, he did not attach any lab results but the records contained a lot of anecdotal information, much of which was inaccurate and antagonistic. This clinic has been reported to the State Veterinary Board, and queries in my neighborhood forum resulted in a few other instances of similar cold experiences with Dr. Amos and his staff. Those will be posted as well. Dr. Amos and his very cold staff have caused us a great deal of suffering and our biggest crime was that we acted in good faith and trusted them to have our best interests at heart and to be medically professional. Neither was true.

Our nearly 12 year old cat recently became tragically ill. We took him to Nokomis Pet Clinic; this was the first time we brought our cat to see Dr. Amos as we just moved to the area. Our previous experiences with vets had left us skeptical. However, Dr. Amos and his staff exceeded our expectations. Through a series of outpatient visits, it was discovered our kitty was in multi-organ failure, suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis, pancreatitis, kidney and liver failure. Dr. Amos thoroughly explained our options, including admission to an animal hospital. As the expense of hospital admission could have spiraled out of control, we decided to provide aggressive home care, including an intensive insulin regimen, fluids, tube feeds, and lots of TLC. Dr. Amos was very frank regarding our cats prognosis (dismal, at best), but was more than willing to guide us through our chosen course. In addition to our home cares, our cat spent several days in outpatient care at the Nokomis clinic. No appointment was required - Dr. Amos and his staff graciously accommodated our kitty. Against tremendous odds, our cat has made a full recovery, thanks in large part to Dr. Amos and the Nokomis Clinic staff. Practical, evidence-based, caring animal doctor, wonderful accommodating staff. Highest regards!

We have been going to this clinic since we got our first puppy in February 2011. Nothing but the best care and affordable prices. When we moved to South St Paul in November 2013 we tried a closer vet just for convenience sake; it was a total mistake. We compared this new clinic to Nokomis and realized driving a little further was worth it. Dr Amos and all of the vet techs are super great. You are not over charged and he doesnt push anything (products or services) that are not completely necessary. I had an emergency situation with my cat and had to go to an ER clinic. After being quoted $3-4k and told the surgery must be done ASAP, Dr Amos took my late phone call and scheduled my cat for surgery the next morning at a much reduced price. Dr Amos has also checked up on my little guy 3 times and followed up with an email and phone call regarding lab results. If you live in the area, consider this clinic - you wont regret it!

Dr. Amos is truly passionate about what he does, and does not act just based on increasing his bottom dollar. We used Dr. Amos when we lived in South Minneapolis, and were always very impressed by the level of detail he puts into his work. About a year after we moved from South Minneapolis, our dog developed a cancerous tumor on her leg. We called Dr. Amos to get an appointment for a second opinion, and found out they were completely booked for the next few days. To my surprise at 7:15 pm my phone rang, and it was Dr. Amos available to answer my questions. He candidly informed me based on the information I gave him that he agreed with the previous vet, and did not feel the need to schedule an additional appointment. I highly recommend anyone looking for a good, honest veterinarian to choose Nokomis Pet Clinic.
